I've been going to Function since I was in high school (about 6 years) and this is my tried and trusted recovery place! Growing up as a gymnast, I've gotten more massages than I can count from a variety of different places so I know exactly what makes a great massage. I've tried so many types of recovery and rehabilitation practices and I keep returning to Function. They offer so many different services: massage, acupuncture, cupping, dry needling, etc. Joy is the best! She's very skilled and is the only person I've gone to that can apply the high amount of pressure I need to help my back. They also have a great space, it's super comfortable and they offer free tea. They have their own parking lot so it's super easy to access. Price wise, they have pretty standard prices. It's about $140 for an hour long massage (cupping can be added at no additional cost) which is more than fair for the service they provide. Function is the first place I mention to anyone looking for a massage! They're a great business and offer great deals for first timers. read more

Function has saved my hip. Acupuncture has proven more mobility and reduced pain to almost nothing. Maintenance is key but the server pain I was having due to sciatic nerve issues and pain in my hip has almost gone away. read more

I had my first prenatal massage of pregnancy here and it was such a great and comforting experience! Even from booking they will ask you how far along you are and some pre massage questions. Then once you arrive they have a table with a hole for your belly! They easily fill it when you flip to your back. I had a truly great massage by Raines and plan to be back! She had great pressure to help relieve some pain but also asks if pressure is good. I did an hour full body massage and she hit every part of the body! Price is great too. I stopped in to see Andy for a problem with my knee. The original point was to have acupuncture done to relieve pain and swelling. He did a full intake and did some great soft/deep tissue work in addition to the acupuncture. He is one of the most knowledgeable practitioners I've worked with and really cared about my well being. I have been coming to Function now for about 18 months and I love it! Kate is the best and I HIGHLY recommend her for massage and acupuncture. She has helped me tremendously, and I believe her acupuncture treatments have calmed my crazy system. She is also great at massage and hands down gave me the best prenatal massage when I was feeling miserable with back pain late into my pregnancy. (And they have the comfy table for pregnant women with the cut out for your belly which makes the massage so much more relaxing) Kate takes the time to really get to know her clients and is such a compassionate/awesome person. She is very thoughtful in her treatments and she is so good at what she does. I don't get a massage often enough, but when I do, I make an appointment with Andy. My body has issues, above and beyond what most people have, but that is no issue for him. I prefer to book an appointment with him for 90 minutes, probably because I don't get in to see him often enough. When I get off the table I know one thing: there will not be a single major muscle group that hasn't been worked on. Once you have had a massage with Andy you will understand why he has so many professional athletes and performers (Cirq de Soliel, for example) for clients. The new space for Function is great and hopefully he will get some signage on the outside of the building soon. If you book an appointment allow a couple of extra minutes as the new location is a bit tricky to find but not impossible. read more

Mikki is a massage magician. I am very active, and travel a lot for work so I am not able to keep a regular massage schedule. I am updating my review since first writing about this place two years ago. When I first started seeing Andy, I had very little hope in acupuncture doing anything for my infertility, insomnia, muscle pain, there was a lot going on. He and his staff did not give up on me, and you could tell the goal was to heal my body, not make the most money they could. As I update this review I'm 6 months pregnant, and so much of that I attribute to Andy and his team helping to get my mind and body in working order. Now I also see Chelsea for massage which makes my back pain from pregnancy go away in a session. I rarely write reviews, but this place is special to me. I was visiting from out of state and a friend referred me to Function. Being 5 months pregnant and with a history of back problems from scoliosis, Im always in need of good, effective therapy. I had a massage with Mikki and she was attentive, responsive and I left feeling relaxed with just the right amount of soreness to know the session would have a deeper, lasting effect for the days to come.
