This place is a complete joke. We took our special needs daughter to this place, back in 2019. They would not let us as parents, go back there as "it would be a distraction". Nothing they tried was working for my daughter. We paid on time in full every time. We left and a few years later they sent us to collections and to court. Saying stuff about late fees and us still owing, when we proved that we owe nothing. They are making stuff up to try to get your money. BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

I was charged $399 for a 45 min eval. This was our first visit with Functionabilities. We watched a short video, and then they offered a good, better, best therapy program. I have never seen therapy services offered that way before. For some reason, insurance also decided not to cover this visit, even after a letter of approval from my insurance for additional services and after extensive checking with their intake coordinator. When I called to talk to the billing department to try to resolve the issue, the call went to a voicemail message saying "due to staffing shortages and inflation" they do not have staff to speak to. They give you an email to contact for billing instead. When I asked for a breakdown of the charges and tried to resolve the issue through emailing, they said they would need to charge me an additional $50 dollars for administration fees to look into it further. I never got a breakdown of how 45 minutes turned into $399. Compared to other companies, this is the most expensive eval and billing department I've ever worked with. If I could leave negative stars I would! This place is shady AF! They take your kids in a back room and make you sit in the waiting room not knowing if your kid is off just sitting in a chair somewhere! when you look into this place they give you this orientation full of empty promises! W e used them for a couple of months and saw no improvement, my child did better with the public school system! And the billing is a joke! They told us 1 price go in there for around 4 to 5 weeks paying in full every time! Then we go in there and our bill jumps up 20 dollars per session and they want back pay! We refuse to pay it and they send us to collections!! If you love frustrating service with no benefits and paying for something and getting nothing then this is the place for you! read more

We attended the initial consultation and I got to go into great detail of my daughters struggles and challenges. At this meeting I did feel heard and listened to. Among the first 4 weekly visits we had a different occupational therapist working with my daughter each time. This was concerning to me to two reasons. 1.) The OT's were asking me the same questions about my daughter that I had already explained to the previous therapist the week before. I disliked the feeling of starting from square one each time. 2.) My daughter is very reserved and untrusting of people for a while until she builds a relationship with them. For these reasons I felt we were not going to make progress. I brought my concerns to Janna about having a new OT each time. She assured me that their therapists are collaborative and have a weekly meeting where they discuss each child so they are all on the same page. She told me that they now were working on getting my daughter on a set weekly schedule so we would see more consistency in the schedule. Another frustration: I was told by the therapist that for my daughters food aversions I could bring in a snack that she has a hard time eating and they would work on it. We brought one the first time. The next time we had a different therapist who seemed like she had no idea what I was talking about at first. Was this not discussed in their weekly meeting or were my daughters notes not looked at? Come our next visit, we yet again had a different occupational therapist who asked me questions about my daughter that I had already explained to the other therapists each week and explained in great detail in our initial hour long consultation! After the session the therapist told me that my daughter was doing great at learning "how to be safe in the gym" and asked if she was being safe at home. This was really upsetting to me because if you know anything about my daughter you know that she is TOO safe and reserved- she AVOIDS sensory stimulations. Being safe at home is a concern for perhaps other sensory seeking kids that Functionabilities may work with at their facility but my daughter is being seen for the opposite reasons. I'm glad they teach safety of course at the facility but after we had been coming for a month and a half I would expect to hear about more of what you are doing to help my daughter's unique challenges. The owner came to talk to my in the waiting room and I again mentioned my concerns. She assured me again they have a weekly meeting to talk about each child. But then I found myself telling telling the owner about my daughters challenges and the owner (RaLyn?) seemed as if she was hearing my daughter's story for the first time. (If you have a weekly meeting why does it seem like you are hearing this for the first time?) After I explained she told me that she usually sees kids like my daughter 3x a week instead of 1x a week to make progress. I did not feel ready to visit 3x a week with the experience we had been having. I decided to discontinue services. This was back in February. It is now August and I received a charge on my credit card for $80. Six months after I stopped services. I tried to call twice with no answer. I finally got an email saying that the charge was from an adjustment made by the insurance company in May. I strongly dislike that they have my credit card on file on their Square reader and can charge me whenever they want after I have discontinued services. I have asked that my card be removed from their system and have not heard back. read more

My 5 year old son has had issues with eating since he was a baby. I have taken him to different programs for his eating throughout his life but nothing helped. I finally reached out to Functionabilities and they were able to get me in quickly for as assessment. The results showed that he has some sensory processing issues and problems with balance, which correlate with issues issues. I have been taking him to occupational therapy appointments twice a week for almost 3 months now and I've already seen improvements and hope to see even more before he starts Kindergarten. The therapists seem to genuinely care about my sons success and the owners care about the families they serve. They are a very professional company and their gym space is incredible! The cost before we met out deductable was fairly high, but that's pretty much what you have to pay for services like these. And it's definitely worth the month if your child shows improvements. read more

I've lived in multiple states across the country. I've had a child in therapy for 8 years... I've unfortunately experienced the effect of too many kids and not enough therapists. I contacted FUNctionabilities two months before we moved to Utah because it has always been my experience that therapy clinics have a waitlist. Imagine my surprise when I was told there was no waitlist! In fact, they make certain that no child ever has to wait to get the help they need. My kids absolutely love the time they spend with their therapists and my son has made more progress in 6 months here than he has made in his previous 7 years of therapy elsewhere. The level of FUN here makes it easy to get kids interested in wanting to participate in therapy and definitely makes them motivated to achieve their goals. Coming here is the best thing we've ever done for our kids!! read more

There have been significant changes at FUNctionabilities - lots of staff turnover & general change in attitude toward families. There's an extreme focus on profit. Now, it is a for-profit company, but they've gone over the line. If you are late to your appt, it's $25.00 (because "we can only bill insurance for face to face time"), which I have never heard of before. It's $40 if your child is ill & cannot make the appt. But, the biggest concern is if you have low reimbursing insurance, you must agree to pay $35 on top of your copay. Finally, they're not listening to parents as well as before. I still think the therapy is good, but the rest is not. read more

My two children, ages 9 and 12, have struggled with various motor and sensory issues, including issues with food textures, the feel and fit of fabrics, and attention disorder. I tried conventional therapy, which helped with some things, but ultimately didn't touch the motor and sensory issues. When our family therapist recommended medication for my kids, I knew I needed to look elsewhere. Finally, my sister found FUNctionabilities Occuational Therapy services, and we both visited to meet the therapists and have our kids assessed. After working with my children for about five months, my kids are doing so great! They're actually enjoying foods like salad, and also are doing much better with their motor skills and attention. Obviously, there is still more to do, but I am extremely pleased and very grateful for the assistance and quality of care received through the staff and therapists at FUNctionabilities. Buyer BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took my daughter in to see if this place could be a fit for her therapy. She has hemiplexia and cortical vision impairment. Due to her disability, all agreed that this place was not ideal for her and they didn't have the tools to evaluate her.... then gave me a bill for over $900. We were in there for an hr. She asked for a drink of water and then on the bill they charged $180 for a "swallow study". They have been absolutely unreasonable to work with in resolving this as well. Very unethical operation. Main focus is to bill your insurance for all they can get. read more

Everything about this place is horrible! I should've known when this was the only place I was able to get my kids in to for speech after our move that it would be shitty! They don't know how to handle children with special needs at all, they won't let you go back with your kids, and when they are screaming bloody murder in the back with their therapists they still don't let you go back. They don't know how to interact with children! When I wanted to just take my children and leave I was told they would be charged the cancellation fee!! Ridiculous!! Then they require REQUIRE a credit card on file, and when you tell them you are disenrolling your children they charge the full amount to your card without working with you or your insurance that pays 100%!!!! Piece of shit company!! Do not use them. They are over priced and I took my kids the recommended amount and they didn't make any progress! Don't waste your time or money! Buyer beware. My daughter has hemiplegia and some cognitive delays due to hypoxic brain injury. I made an initial appt and took her in to see if this facility would be a good place for therapy for her. We sat down and talked to the w/ the speech therapist, she told me she really didn't have any way to evaluate my daughter as she has cortical vision impairment. She never interacted w/ my daughter or engaged w/ her one-on-one. Then their OT took my daughter back into their gym for 15 -20 minutes. Came back and told me their gym really wasn't a fit for her either based on her disability (hemiplegia w/ very limited functionality of her left arm). They then tried to get all of my paperwork in on site so they could BILL MY INSURANCE FOR $900 for the "EVALUATIONS" ($450 for speech/ $450 for OT) WHAT A JOKE! I told them absolutely NO as that was not an "evaluation"! They are now working to direct bill me. I was there for a little over an hr. If you decide to give this place a "try", DO NOT make initial appt for an "evalutation" or they will try to bill you before you can even see if this place is a fit for your child. They were much more interested in billing me/ my insurance than seeing if their service was a fit for my daughter. read more
