After much research I decided to sign up with Chisel Studio and I have been training with Marcus Scott 1hr/2x a week for about 3 months. Marcus is THE BEST. Initially I felt weak and could barely lift 10 pounds, now I am stronger than I was prior to catching Covid. Marcus understood my dilemma, did his research and tailors my workouts to my condition and body, while also challenging me. This isn't a basic gym with meat-head trainers that have unnatural physiques. The PTS here always have health and safety in mind and want to help you become the best version of yourself. The facility is new and they have everything you could want in a box--all the essentials, a GHD, lots of mobility tools, and plenty of parking. The coaching is personalized to each member; Daniel is outstanding and really takes time to answer any questions you have. I also had Lauren as a sub once, and she was great, too. They always strike a balance of challenging you but also not pushing you past your limits. It's a relatively new box with some CrossFit veterans, but many newbies. The age range also struck me--I am always impressed when a box has a healthy dose of people over the age of 30. To me that says the coaching is accessible and scalable, while still being challenging for all the young spring chickens. Class times are great--early morning, mid-morning, lunch, and after work times. Prices are absolutely reasonable. Now onto the members--what a welcoming bunch! My job has me travelling a lot (like, I'm on the road for 10 months solid right now), so I drop in to boxes all over the place. I should count, but it's probably close to 70 at this point. It's such a relief when the members notice the new person and make a point of introducing themselves and welcoming them to the group. That is the case at CrossFit Knightdale--the members couldn't be more welcoming. And so there we have it--every time I am visiting the area, I will be back to CrossFit Knightdale in a heartbeat. Dino is not only great at working around limitations but also working on improving those limitations (and has the credentials to back up his approach). Going into a gym and doing a circuit bores me, and I don't have the knowledge to create safe, smart, and helpful programs for myself. I have not gone to a gym for longer than I care to admit. The classes are small, so there is personal attention, and you get feedback on things like your form. G, the owner, is very aware of her group and takes input, adjusting the classes based on what the group needs most. There's a great sense of camaraderie in the lessons I have attended, more than in any other class I have taken. If you are looking for a place to take classes that are adjustable to what your body can do and want not to feel judged, try this place. It's a positive place to do something good for yourself.
