I'm visiting family here in North Carolina and came by this location with my fiancé. I'm a paying member based in California and didn't realize my membership didn't include out of state access. When I scanned in, the guy at the front desk immediately asked if I was from here. I explained that I was just visiting, but instead of offering help or explaining options, he was rude, dismissive, and made no effort to assist. There was no explanation, no attempt to offer a guest pass, upgrade, or even a basic welcome. He simply turned us away, without care. I even called my home gym in California, and their manager was very kind and understanding. They said that this location could have offered a courtesy pass but when I brought it up, the staff here, especially the manager Daniel, refused and acted like I didn't matter. It was honestly one of the most unwelcoming gym experiences I've ever had. To compare after leaving LA Fitness, I went to Planet Fitness nearby, and guess what? I'm not even a member there, but they gladly welcomed me in, offered me a free guest pass, and treated me with kindness and respect. Their staff was professional and accommodating, something this LA Fitness location seriously lacks. I've always had great experiences at my home LA Fitness in California, where staff are helpful and friendly. But this Raleigh location made me feel disrespected, unimportant, and embarrassed. I wasn't trying to get in for free I would've upgraded on the spot if someone had just taken a moment to explain. Instead, I was kicked out like I wasn't even a member. Really upsetting experience. LA Fitness corporate should be aware of how this location treats loyal members from out of state.

I have throughly enjoyed my time working out at the Burn Boot camp gyms. I have been working out approximately four times a week and that is abnormal for me. The trainers that I have been working with, Lauren and Sam, are very encouraging and make working out fun. A cool thing about Burn Boot camps are that you can work out at any of the gym locations and attend unlimited camps six days a week. Another cool thing about the gym is that the workouts are never the same so you won't get bored. There are certain days for cardio, legs, etc. Free child care is also included with gym memberships. On Saturday's the gym offers free workouts for the public. The gym also offers focus meetings where you can weigh in, check measurements, body fat percentages, and go over food suggestions. The members also keep you motivated and are like a community of people that want each other to succeed. Specialty classes like yoga & jump rope are also sometimes offered. Storage areas for your items and bathrooms are also in the gym. The gym also sells merchandise and items such a protein powder. Burn Boot camp is definitely a great gym!

The facility is new and they have everything you could want in a box--all the essentials, a GHD, lots of mobility tools, and plenty of parking. The coaching is personalized to each member; Daniel is outstanding and really takes time to answer any questions you have. I also had Lauren as a sub once, and she was great, too. They always strike a balance of challenging you but also not pushing you past your limits. It's a relatively new box with some CrossFit veterans, but many newbies. The age range also struck me--I am always impressed when a box has a healthy dose of people over the age of 30. To me that says the coaching is accessible and scalable, while still being challenging for all the young spring chickens. Class times are great--early morning, mid-morning, lunch, and after work times. Prices are absolutely reasonable. Now onto the members--what a welcoming bunch! My job has me travelling a lot (like, I'm on the road for 10 months solid right now), so I drop in to boxes all over the place. I should count, but it's probably close to 70 at this point. It's such a relief when the members notice the new person and make a point of introducing themselves and welcoming them to the group. That is the case at CrossFit Knightdale--the members couldn't be more welcoming. And so there we have it--every time I am visiting the area, I will be back to CrossFit Knightdale in a heartbeat. If you're considering joining a box, I highly recommend this one. You'll get personalized coaching and you'll be joining a thriving community of encouraging people.
