We grabbed a red velvet funnel cake the other day,it was pretty tasty, although the toppings were super sweet! It's definitely one of those things you need to eat right away before it gets all soggy. The place itself was a small ice cream shop too. There were a couple of young girls working there, and honestly, it could have used a bit of a clean up. First when we came in there was an awful burnt oil or fish smell the place overall looked dirty/run down. While vacationing in Pigeon Forge and driving on the main drag the Funnel Cake Factory caught our eye. Who doesn't like a funnel cake and an actual place dedicated to funnel cake, why not? They were frying funnel cakes as you walked in and smelled just like a carnival. They also have ice cream available if you're not into funnel cakes. The staff were welcoming and took our order right away, the place was packed. We ordered an Apple Pie Funnel Cake to share with our family of 4, as well as a strawberry cone and a Superman cone of ice cream. Everything was delicious!!!! The funnel cake was still warm and was a good size too, definitely worth the price. We got one scoop of ice cream for each cone but they were big scoops my kids couldn't finish it. This place. We arrived from a 500 mile trip and went here around 7:00. We were waited on by an older lady with attitude. My wife ordered a hot fudge cake and was told they were out of them. She commented that the last three times she has visited there they haven't had them. Instead of replying that the lady was sorry or giving an explanation, she said well we had them yesterday and also earlier today. Not very professional for a business. My wife wasn't even upset- in fact she told me on the way there that they might not have the cake. She was simply stating that she keeps trying and can't seem to get there at the right time. This is usually a must stop when we drive over from NC. Today we got a traditional and red velvet funnel cakes and split. The traditional is great while the red velvet was good too but whooo that frosting makes it sugar overload. We came about 1pm on a Sat. and man we hit it just before a rush. It was 2 people working. Line got long quick BUT it's funnel cakes, ice cream, etc. You have to have patience. A few people left which comes off kinda rude when you look at the expression on their faces. Again, patience. Cook to order. Nevertheless we all placed orders and it was pretty quick if you ask me. I also ordered pork grinds. Why not. The lady taking our orders was really nice and personable. One of my friends ordered bbq pork grinds and when she tasted one it was hot (it really was lol).
