This place is a must-try when in the area! We were in town for the Bronco Super Celebration event and stayed next door at the Marriott hotel for 4 days. The first night we ate at the tavern next door, and wanted a sweet treat for the walk back to the hotel, so we popped in for a couple waffle cones. First, the shop is very cute and clean, and all the staff are so kind and helpful. I tried several samples before making my decision (there's SO many amazing flavors to choose from!) and decided on the toasted coconut chunk for me, and brownie batter for my boyfriend, both in a waffle cone. The waffle cones are made fresh after you order, and then filled with their amazing (all homemade!) ice cream. We both agreed it was the best ice cream we've probably ever had (cone included!) Serving size was perfect and prices super reasonable. We proceeded to stop by every single day of our trip - that's how good! During our visits, we also had the Twix, Reese's, cookie dough, and samples of Tennessee turtle, caramel bear tracks, and coffee brownie. All were amazing and so hard to decide! On our last visit, the owner came out to chat with us & meet our pup (we had taken it to go each time and sat outside to eat since we had our dog with us). She was so sweet and clearly passionate about creating not only an amazing product, but a great experience overall. What a beautiful, quaint little ice cream shop! Ice cream is homemade - tastes fresh and delicious. Waffle cones are also freshly made AND can be made with different flavors. A big yes. I love ice cream. I love finding local creameries that make their own ice cream. After talking to the owner we found she used to own the Scoops at the outer banks. It was awesome there as well. I gauge all creameries in the banana split. Screw that up and I know I haven't found the place. Owner asked if I wanted a traditional split and I'm like oh yeah. That's what I got. Chocolate, vanilla and strawberry with chocolate sauce, pineapple and strawberry topping with wet nuts. Boom!!! Solid split for $13.99. You won't BELIEVE how amazing the coconut ice cream was! Seriously, the flavor and creaminess were out of this world easily one of the best I've ever had. We also grabbed some lime and mango sherbet, which was delicious too.And get this they make their waffle cones fresh right there! The Bad News is I didn't take a picture to show what a great cone I got. The Good News is I'll be back so that's not a big deal. We LOVE our ice cream on vacation and try to find our fixture parlor in every city or town we visit! Scoops is right next to Food City and down the street from The Island entertainment center. So the ambiance is simple and has enough seating for about 10-15 people. Family owned and operated, I struck up the best conversation with the owner who opened Scoops after her daughter moved here from N.C. All of the flavors are designed and fashioned by her so no cartons or brands here. Just smooth, creamy, and generous scoops of ice cream and sorbets. For me it was traditional cookies and cream with giant chunks of Oreo and a banana pudding with vanilla wafer chunks that should be a southern delicacy! This was in the best waffle cone I've ever had that actually had taste and was sturdy and enough to hold the ice cream. At the End of the Day. Scoops is now officially our parlor in the Smoky Mountains for future visits and look forward to many future visits! read more
