I am so lucky to have found West Coast Grooming Academy! They are in the Annesberg Pet Space and it was a little difficult to get a hold of them for an appointment but it was worth it. I wasn't sure of the name of the instructor but when we picked Alfie up, he was so kind and discussed how he did. He's a puppy so he's wiggly but he came out looking amazing! I've never seen his hair so soft and straight so I have no idea what magic they worked on him. Alfie was smitten with the groomers which is always a good sign. We paid $45 for a full groom and they give a stamp card as well - every 10 grooms gets you 1 free!

This was my first time visiting and I was thoroughly impressed. My fur baby is a bit difficult as he was born during Covid and hasn't been with other people often. I'm his second home and he's with me all the time. Anxious to say the least. He looks amazing with his summer cut. While the groomers may have been stressed with him, I am very happy with the results. The facility is super clean, smells fresh, easy parking, bright and cheery!

They did a wonderful job with my daughters pup Zoe, we only had her about a week and 1/2 and was anxiously looking for someone to clean her up. Her facial hairs are a lil wild, its kinda funny, and I believe maybe the hairs around her mouth and on her nose should be kept a little longer so they don't fly up when she eats or hangs her head out the car window, we continually brush it down. The staff is warm and friendly and she felt at ease immediately. My only suggestion is maybe they could offer a pet deodorant. The previous place we took our pets always made sure they smelled wonderful after a bath and hair cut, it was a nice touch and the cost was the same. Their waiting list was a bit long or we would have taken Zoe there. Plus we live closer to Pawlor now. We will be returning! Highly recommended!

My daughter and her fiancé have been bringing their dog, Max, here for the last year and they have been very happy with Mario. They have had a really hard time finding someone who will cut their dog's hair in the shape they've wanted. Finally, they found the right stylist. I've been to multiple groomers - including some extremely expensive boutique places. But, I think Mario is still the best. He listens, asks questions, and checks in with me before styling my dog, Bear. I'm so happy with the service. He even made a great Instagram post for me to show off my dog to my followers. I am extremely happy with his services and am SO glad my daughter's fiancé found him. I definitely recommend Pawlor and Mario!

The magic inside this pet space is undeniable. The oversized pet decor and the orange slide add an element of fun to the ambiance. It also smells really good inside...Our little Welsh Terrier went into Fur Town looking like a stray and came out looking like a show dog! The staff was extremely kind and gentle, and they far exceeded our expectations. Oh, and the best part...the price! Yes, the groomers are students, but the have great command over those clippers! Fur Town is an excellent grooming company. We are currently fostering a full bred cocker spaniel with long hair that gets easily matted. Fur Town took care of our dog and she returns to us smelling and looking amazing. We dropped our dog off at 1pm and she was ready at 3:30pm.

Back in July when places started to re-open Sawyer desperately needed a bath. I usually use Petsmart's grooming services, but their availability was limited so I decided to try out Pawlor. Pawlor is located inside Annenberg PetSpace so it may be a bit hard to find at first. The few times we dropped off Sawyer we talked to Ashley and I could tell she absolutely adores and cares for dogs. She would give me details about how Sawyer did during the grooming (e.g. tries to eat the shower head, doesn't like the blow dryer) and what a sweet and derpy dog he is. As a pawrent, I'm a friend of anyone who compliments my dog. Sawyer tends to have dry skin and during one of his baths the groomer texted me a picture of his skin letting me know there were some dry flakes. Appreciate how attentive the staff is. You can also make an appointment with a student groomer and get 50% off. The quality is on par with a certified groomer, it may just take a little longer. Pawlor also provides loyalty stamp cards and you get get 1 free grooming after 10 appointments. Sawyer always comes back soft and floofy and I love how they deck him out with a bandana after each bath.

My pup has been coming here for grooming for about a year. They are by far the best. I have an anxious pup and the typical groomers were always so loud, busy and not clean from an external perspective. This place has such a calm vibe and is immaculately clean and fresh smelling- such a calm experience for my dog and me. My pup always come out looking cute and excellently groomed. I have a 7 year old Yorkie, Biscuit, and grooming at home has always been hard for her, since she is an anxious pup. I am so happy we decided to take a chance on Fur Town! From the moment we dropped Biscuit off at Fur Town, everyone was so welcoming and kind. The groomers made sure to take their time and exercise patience with her, to make sure my baby was as comfortable as she could be. The groom took a little over 2 hours. We asked for a puppy cut, and I was apprehensive at first, however, everyone delivered. Biscuit came out a different dog! I genuinely couldn't believe how unbelievably cute her new look came out! I am a proud graduate of West Coast grooming academy and my hands on classes were held at Fur Town in the Wallis Annenberg space. It is a beautiful campus! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Fur Town is just as beautiful and stocked with high quality shampoos and conditioners. They use Chris Christensen shampoos and conditioners. They have amazing up and coming groomers like the two Marios or the Master Groomers like Huber and Jessica! These guys are the pros when it comes to delivering high quality care for your pets. They are quick to point out any issues and communicate with pet parents about any concerns or tips to further assist pet in keeping a healthy skin and coat. They did a wonderful job with my daughters pup Zoe, we only had her about a week and 1/2 and was anxiously looking for someone to clean her up. West coast grooming is great! This was my first time bringing my elderly fur child here and I was a bit worried she would give them a hard time since she can get anxious. They took really good care of her and did a great job. To note, this is a pet grooming school so they have students grooming with an experienced instructor helping out. I will be bringing my dog back for future grooming sessions. She also came home with a cute little bandana :) read more

They do a very good job with our dog and we've recommended them to many friends, but today's customer service was pretty disappointing. Since Yelp showed them as closed right now, I didn't call as we've done in the past and instead used their (terrible) website to make an appointment for the next available time which showed as later this afternoon. I confirmed the appointment time and put in my credit card info. About 45 minutes later, I got a phone call from a 1800 number that I didn't answer, but received a voicemail from Angie saying my appointment has been canceled because I didn't answer her phone call-that's an odd and unfortunate protocol. I called back about 30 seconds later and she said it was too late, my appointment was canceled since I didn't answer...and they're full now anyhow, but I can drive to Arcadia for an appointment 2hrs later with a different groomer. Really disappointed with this customer service today and not sure we'll be back or recommend them to anyone else. You guys can do better-so disappointing! read more

Brought my fur baby here (la Verne location) because it was the only dog grooming place that had same day availability today. And I'm glad I found this place! Alyssa did an awesome job on Roscoe. He desperately needed a trim and a bath. He was looking like Frankenstein because of a coyote attack so he was shaved down on his neck and two of his legs which were injured. Now he's looking like a new dog with his evened out trim. Now we can forget he ever got attacked lol. Will deff continue to bring him back on a regular basis. The staff was very professional and very knowledgeable and patient with my anxious dog. They also have really cute dog harness with matching leashes and great toys and other products. I absolutely love this place. They came recommended to me by my neighbor. I called to make an appointment and they happened to have a cancellation and we're able to get me in the same day. Everyone is SUPER NICE! The first time I took our Beau (2yr ok'd Siberian Husky) for a visit , we were greeted with a friendly smile. The faculties are very clean. They also have a pet adoption center on the top floor. That it a must see !!! So happy with Burger's mobile grooming appointment today! Tyler arrived and completed services during the time frame. He was attentive and got to know my senior pup. Texted when Burger was done. It was perfect! My senior dog gets really anxious when I leave him at the groomers, having the service come to us made it so much more easier for him. Totally cost was $85 for complete grooming. Look no further, this is the groomer for any and all dogs! I have an extreme large XL breed from the Malamute family that you rarely see in the United States. I sent him to the Academy for the student to work on for the first time today and Zeus came back to me prettier, fluffier & happier than any other groomer we've ever been to! It's been one year of using Pawlor Pets services and they never fail when it comes to my little Dachshund! This location has since turned into a learning academy for student groomers, so grooming is now 50% off the price it used to be for regular grooming. Mario, who has attended my pup many times this past year, is now teaching these students how to master the craft of grooming. My Lilo struggles with getting her nails clipped, and he allowed me to step inside and hold her while he buffed them down, and while in there, I could see the attention to detail that the students were expected to perform while grooming dogs! It's always my worry that a place will mistreat my dog, but I just know that everyone that works at Pawlor Pet loves these little four-legged friends! Mario also recommended a CBD oil to calm my dog down during her nail trimming and educated me on the proper way to administer the oil and as well as the benefits it could provide for Lilo. Love, love, love this place! I live in the valley but drive down to Playa Vista because I trust and love their service. read more

Wonderful grooming school located in Playa Vista. They were great with my German Shepherd and we had a smooth customer experience. You have to book a few weeks in advance since they have limited students available, but I would highly recommend West Coast Grooming Academy. read more

History

Established in 2015.

Originally established in 2015 with our first location in Arcadia, West Coast Grooming Academy (formerly The Pawlor/Fur Town)- Playa Vista first opened its doors on December 11th, 2019. Our facility inside Wallis Annenberg Petspace is where members of the public can come and learn to groom dogs for the purpose of employment, or to receive discounted rates on grooming services for their own dogs! The student groomers at WCGA strives to give your pet the best grooming experience possible, in an environment where we meticulously teach them to bring our special brand of high-end spa services to you. At WCGA, we want to help your pet look like the best version of itself.

Meet the Business Owner: Jessica J.

Jessica is the Chief Academic Officer for West Coast Grooming Academy (WCGA) and Chris Jackson is the founder of WCGA. Together with our Instructors, Mario M. and Mario B., hundreds of WCGA graduates have gone on to have successful careers and open businesses all across the US.

Used to be great! But not as of late…read more I've been bringing pets here for a decade. I used to bring my late grandpa's dogs here too (Jack & Oreo RIP). This was the place I trusted with my fur babies, and it was great, until it got weird. My eight-year-old Pomeranian has been seeing Kat since he was a puppy. Kat is the only person I trusted well enough to take care of him (and my recent rescue). Pampered Tails reached out to me in October because they could see in their system I was looking for an appointment. I thought that was nice, so I asked for Kat's availability. They told me that she doesn't work weekends (which is why I was unable to book online), but they could set me up with a different groomer. The whole reason I came here was specifically so my kids could see Kat. I started a new job, so the only time I could go lately was on the weekend. Accordingly, I waited to get my holiday office schedule, and on November 7th I made an appointment for Tuesday, December 24 at 9am with Kat (because it was available), and Pampered Tails confirmed it. On December 19 they texted me saying Kat wasn't available as scheduled, and they could offer me a different groomer. I asked for Kat's next availability. They gave me 12/30 at 10:05am, which I gladly accepted. I got an appointment confirmation text on 12/27. On 12/30 at 8:05am (yes, two hours before my appointment) I got a text saying Kat was feeling unwell, wouldn't be coming in that day, and needed to reschedule. I understood illness can come out of nowhere, so I asked for Kat's next availability. They responded with 1/14, and that's where they lost me. I had been trying in earnest to get an appointment with Kat since October; I planned so that my work schedule aligned with Kat's, I rescheduled my original appointment, and then the soonest they could get me in (after cancelling my appointment within two hours of that appointment) was another two weeks later. I could have perhaps even been consoled if they had made any sincere show of effort to get me in with Kat asap, but no. Not even so much as "we will call if any of her appointments cancel." It would have been great for them to proactively try to accommodate my twice-rescheduled appointment with Kat sooner than two weeks later, but they didn't. I'm certainly left with the impression that Pampered Tails doesn't want my business, or wanted to steer me away from Kat, or both. In all cases it's too bad because I liked (and more importantly) trusted them for years, but after this, I give up. Your turn - if you can get an appointment.

She'll say that's credit for the following treatment. (Nowhere does it state that.) I normally take my princess to other groomers and they take 1 hour to fully groom, nails cut, ears cleaned and glands cleaned they also return her with a cute little bow. And they're much cheaper. She literally called me 15 min after and said okay I'm done. I was like okay?! I asked her a few questions. Do you recommend this or that and she was like I don't know. But seemed annoyed. I asked her when do you recommend another cleaning? She said idk in 1 month it's up to you. My dog did not smell clean she still smelled like Doritos. I wouldn't recommend or rebook her.

And before her, we couldn't really travel for a bit because his needs were too much, and it made other people nervous. She's the best and I wouldn't hesitate referring her to anyone I know. She's an animal lover, and does all of it from her heart.

Never again. Took my puppy to The Parlor because my usual groomer at The Healthy Spot in Marina Del Rey was unavailable. Big Mistake. My puppy looked like a frail bobble head. It is beyond disturbing they couldn't unmat my puppy without shaving all her hair off! My puppy gets ongoing grooming services and never has the groomer at The Healthy Spot had trouble giving her a proper groom. The Parlor offered a 20% refund, they really should have refunded me fully. They offered a discounted rate to come back and work with another groomer. That's off the table. There is no way I'd feel comfortable to bring my puppy back to that establishment after that 1st experience read more

I've taken all five of my doggie fur babies to Fur Town in La Verne, California, and I give a rating of five stars for each of the groomers who did a wonderful job on my pups; all the groomers did a wonderful job. I found this grooming salon on the National Cat Groomers Institute website and I am glad I did! The staff was very friendly, as soon as I walked in the door I was greeted and helped. Sydney (my groomer) listened to my concerns about Simba (my pet) & explained how to the grooming process works as it was our first time at any groomer. She explained that she wanted Simba to have a good experience and have a positive association with being groomed and I really appreciated that. Simba was very calm after the grooming and he looks great! read more

Amazing! I am so thankful for Tyler and Fur Town. I was desperate to find a new groomer for my fur baby. She had a really bad experience at a local groomers and the only recommendation was to get her to a Vet who would put her under anesthesia to get her groomed. From the moment I called the Playa vista location, the gentlemen that answered the phone guided me in the right direction and was very helpful. I visited your Arcadia location and the staff was wonderful. They were very matter of fact and to the point but they just want to make sure all the owners have all the information. When it came to our animal, they were truly wonderful. Our aussie was a bit more matted than I thought and let us know she didn't like the de matting so they gave her as many breaks as possible. And did all they could to make her look her best again. They truly want to take care of your animals. read more

I decided to get my mini poodle groomed by one of the students and this was a great experience! The initial intake process was very smooth and the person explained how the whole process worked with student groomers so I did expect that the appointment would take longer. But they did an amazing job with my pup! Probably better than some other professional groomers I have gone to in the past. Will definitely be coming back. read more

I used to bring my bischon here while I lived in So. Cal. Pawlor was great! My pup won't let many people bsides myself touch her, and something about Pawlor put her at ease so she would sit through her services. Since moving to the Seattle area I've had a hard time finding a groomer which she meshes with like she did at Pawlor. This place is amazing! read more
