The restoration of a dining room set was excellent (worth 5 stars). But the communication was terrible (worth zero stars). I was given a price for the table restoration, but that didn't include the chairs. I was told the items would be picked up on a set day, but later said they could not schedule it on that day. I was the one who had to ask if they wanted a deposit (can you imagine?). During the restoration period, I asked three times for progress photos but go no response (I started to worry that there was a problem, like they damaged or lost the dining set). I was promised a delivery date and later they said they could not deliver it then. I had company coming and ended up renting furniture! Their sales, operations and management personnel don't communicate with themselves, or with the customer (I felt totally ghosted). While the company does fine work, they are high-maintenance from a consumer standpoint. So know what to expect. read more

A complete disaster. After a flood, Furniture Medic was recommended by my insurance company. They completely screwed up the project multiple times. 1. My fabricator came to install countertops and discovered that Furniture Medic didn't install the cabinets square...so the countertops didn't fit. 2. Had to sent him home at the cost of a day's labor and transportation costs. 3. Had to bring Furniture Medic back to fix that issue. 4. Then they left the house filthy. Sawdust and wood chips in practically every drawer and cabinet. 5. Furniture Medic had to send someone back to clean up. 6. Finally, the plumber then came to install dishwasher so we could move on to the next step of our project.....He quickly discovered the Furniture Medic had installed the counters too low so that we would have to tear out hardwood floor if dishwasher ever broke. - Cabinet height is an industry standard. How could they screw that up? 7. My GC had to come back again and take the cabinets apart, rip out the brand new countertops and start from scratch. Additional costs and delays. Furniture Medic trying to blame the GC and shift responsibility. I am back to having no kitchen, sink, dishwasher or cooktop. The crew were all very polite, but they were untrained and poorly supervised. I am now months behind, with additional out of pocket expenses and a vendor who refuses to acknowledge their issues. I am escalating this issue to senior management of Furniture Medic, ServiceMaster (which owns Furniture Medic), executives at my insurance company and the bank that holds our mortgage. We were forced to go with furniture medic because they were the cheapest bid out there and our insurance wouldn't pay for any more than what their quote was. We were skeptical from the beginning and rightfully so. It took five months to get our three lower cabinets done. But the worst thing was extreme incompetence and absolutely terrible communication between them and us. I'm exhausted from each person we spoke with having a different take on what was supposed to happen. 100% for furniture medic did not adhere to the contract that we signed. They are in violation of that, and it took them over a month to even ask for one of their payments. The miscommunication was so bad that workers showed up one morning completely unannounced and said they were ready to install cabinets. We were on our way out the door to go to work! We have a large island in our kitchen (12 ft long and 5 feet wide) with a black walnut top. The top was damaged with some chemicals when we were cleaning the oven...:( I could not find anyone who could come to our house as most re-finishers want you to bring the item to them.....Which was impossible due to the size of island. I sent photos of the damage and the island and they provided an estimate (which was 1/3 of another estimate I received). They scheduled it and the technician came to our home - covered the surrounding area in plastic to avoid dust and refinished the entire island top in about 5 hours. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable! I would HIGHLY recommend and would give them 6 stars if they were available! It looks better than it did when it was brand new! read more

I give up. I've given these people several chances at correcting their mistakes and it's time to warn others about what can happen when you work with this company. It's a long story, the short version is this: if you have e.g. a water leak and want your cabinets taken out AND put back in, go with someone else! Perhaps Chris, the owner, will respond to this review (I've been told he doesn't care enough to call me) with some comment about me being "rude" to his staff, when the truth is I've just been persistent, and I've had to be because Greg, Ondreya, and Al haven't done what they repeatedly said they would do: schedule the reinstall of the cabinets they took out and damaged severely. It's been THREE WEEKS since they took out my kitchen cabinets and I just found out they have "decided not to work with me" for the reinstall so now I am way behind schedule on moving back in to my house and I have to look for someone else who is willing to repair the cabinets they broke. Thanks a lot! When I called to ask about the reinstall they initially told me I needed to be patient because they have so many other customers they're working with who are ahead of me in line (maybe don't take people's money if you don't have capacity to provide good service?). A total of 7 times (yes, I kept count) I was told their office would call me back, and no-one did. Al, their general manager, finally picked up when I called this afternoon and told me he had informed our insurance company ("they are our customer, not you", which is wrong: sure, the insurance company has been paying them, but they know full well that I have been organizing everything). Furniture Medic did a great job for us! We had water damage in our kitchen and we needed to remove some lower cabinets to dry the walls behind the cabinets and replace the drywall. Furniture Medic was able to remove the cabinets and use supports for the quartz counters during the repairs, and then customize and replace the cabinets after the repairs without damaging the countertops. If you need to remove and reinstall lower cabinets and don't want to replace your countertops in the process, I highly recommend Furniture Medic. They're on the expensive side, and it was hard to get on their schedule over the holidays, but in the end they were able to fit our project in and they did very professional work. They really know what they're doing (neither the water abatement company or construction contractor had any idea how to do the removal/replacement without damaging the counters such that they would need to be torn out and replaced, which would have been even more expensive). The team at Furniture Medic is amazing. They surgically removed a built in cabinet, rebuilt it and then surgically put it back in place. The wood, the stain all matched perfectly. Fortunately the Herman Miller dealer turned me on to the Furniture Medic, and they came to my office and in one day the desk was as good as new. Because of a broken water pipe behind our custom kitchen cabinets, we needed to have a few of our cabinets removed in order to replace the wet sheetrock that was behind them. In order to avoid having to disturb the granite countertop that was on top of these cabinets, Mark and his team was able to remove the cabinet but leave the granite in place. After replacing the sheetrock, they essentially rebuilt the cabinet underneath the granite. I was so impressed with what they were able to accomplish (in relatively short time) I had them take all my cabinet doors and drawer faces and refresh them. Everything looks new now. They also replaced the sliders on the drawers and some of the hinges. If you have quality cabinets and are thinking about making them look and operate like new again, but at a fraction of the cost of new custom cabinets, I would highly recommend Mark and his team. read more

Furniture Medic ripped me off (and tried to rip me off even worse than they did), so I wanted to write a review to help you avoid the same. I needed a kitchen cabinet removed and rebuilt after some mold and water damage was discovered. I got an estimate of $900 to remove the cabinet and $1800 to replace it - which seemed high to me, but based on the way the job was described (remove the cabinet, support the granite counter top, disconnect the plumbing) I assumed it would be a complex project (I was relatively naive). They sent out 2 guys who removed the cabinet in about 45 minutes - the countertop didn't need to be supported they said, so they basically just ripped out some plywood and took off the doors and they were done. The next day I spoke with the person who did the estimate and asked what the actual charges would be for removal, since it was such a quick job. She said it would still be $900 since they only book half days - WHAT? $900 for 45 minutes of work??? After arguing with her for 10 minutes, I was able to speak with her boss who said the charges would be adjusted after they verified the timeline with their workers. I then received an e-mail the next day saying they had verified my story and that they would adjust my charges to $595 since it took much less time than they estimated. $595 for 45 minutes is ridiculous! I complained saying it should be no more than $350 MAX, and she said I had to pay the full hourly rate from the time their team leaves the office to the time they return - so they charged me for 3 hours for a job that only took 45 minutes! They never even told me initially that they would charge for travel time, nor was that listed in the estimate! Plus, their site is only 40 minutes from my house so they overcharged by almost a full hour - perhaps their guys stopped for lunch and I had to pay for that as well??? Long story short - only go with Furniture Medic if you hate having money and you want to give more of it to someone else. They will rip you off if your job doesn't land on a 4 hour boundary, and they will charge you full rate for whatever travel time they invent. AVOID THESE CROOKS. read more

Review: Furniture Medic Recently we had a water leak in our kitchen which necessitated our cabinets being damaged and having to be removed. Furniture Medic was recommended to us for replacing/rebuilding them and we couldn't be happier with their work. Nico came out and did the template for replacement and submitted a bid. Once our insurance approved it, they started rebuilding the cabinets. Their time estimate was 2 weeks to rebuild, but they were done in about 10 days. The two installers, Nico and Anthony came out and over the next two days, did an exceptional job. The company was able to exactly match our remaining cabinets and Nico and Anthony were very accommodating with us, even doing some small repairs that we hadn't noticed were needed. Both were very professional and it was clear they knew what needed to be done and very efficiently did the work, even asking their boss if they could stay an hour or so over to complete the job.
