From beginning to end, Furniture & Repairs was a wonderful experience. While searching online, to replace my sofa and chair I came across a listing for F&R. After reading their ad, I thought about getting my 15 year old leather pieces reupholstered. They have survived 3 moves, been enjoyed by family and friends with various sitting modes, countless spills, and skunk musk rubbed into the sofa two times by our brave dog. The furniture was loved, but tired. Here's the good part: I called F&R for an estimate. A true craftsman, Arley, came by to see the condition and measure my furniture. We discussed various options for materials and colors. He saw that I was really attached to my furniture, and suggested re-dying them in the same color, only brighter. This suggestion not only saved money and time, it would extended the life of our furniture. Arley, a very articulate young man, cleaned and dyed them in our house. He was meticulous, he knew what he was doing. After a few hours he was done. There was no muss, no fuss, nothing to clean up. The result of the re-dye was exceptional. Our sofa looks rejuvenated, bright and clean, ready for another 15 years. I lucked out in finding Furniture and Repairs. They are sincere and honest, well qualified in their profession. I hired Bay Area Furniture Assembly to assemble my home gym. The initial installation seemed to go…read moresmoothly, and I was satisfied when the technician left. Unfortunately, I discovered issues the first time I actually used the machine. The pulley system had been routed incorrectly in two places, causing the cables to twist, tangle, create excessive friction, and even go completely slack and off the track when the weight was removed. I immediately sent photos and videos showing the problem. We agreed that she would return at 7:00 PM to inspect and correct the issue. However, she did not show up at the agreed time and instead requested additional photos and videos that had already been provided. Based on the communication and tone, it became clear that returning to fix the issue was not a priority. Ultimately, I had to hire another service to correct the installation. They completely rerouted the pulley system and lubricated the moving parts, which resolved the stiffness and functionality problems. I informed Bay Area Furniture Assembly of this, but never received a response. I am disappointed with the level of customer service, especially considering the price paid. While the initial assembly appeared fine, the real test came when the equipment was put into use, and unfortunately the follow-up support and accountability were lacking. ----Follow Up Reply Thank you for your response. This will be my final response, and readers can do with this information what they will. Several statements in your response are inaccurate. You stated that no follow-up time was agreed upon. In writing, you suggested 7 PM and I agreed to that time. You stated there was no phone conversation. We spoke by phone for over five minutes regarding the issue. You stated that additional photos and videos were not provided. I documented the issue and communicated it as soon as it became apparent during actual use of the machine. I travel frequently for work, and although 12 days had passed since assembly, the machine had not yet been utilized. The issue was discovered the very first time I used it. It also makes little sense that I would voluntarily pay a second company to inspect and repair the machine if there had been no issue with the original setup. I requested no refund, no compensation, and made no demands. I simply needed a functioning machine and chose the quickest path to resolving the problem rather than continuing to troubleshoot. The second company corrected the pulley routing and made additional adjustments to ensure smooth operation. After their work, the stiffness, twisting, and slack cable issues were completely resolved. Whether that means the original assembly was incorrect or not, the fact remains that the machine did not function properly until another company corrected it. My review reflects not only the installation itself, but also the follow-up customer service and accountability afterward. I paid for a properly functioning machine and ultimately had to pay a second company to achieve that. I stand by my review and wish Bay Area Furniture Assembly the best going forward.

At that point, it was too late for me to find another mover or coordinate my timeline again with my building, so I reluctantly agreed to the additional charge. To make matters worse, they called me again later and said they had decided to close on the date I had booked, and they would no longer be able to provide the service. Moving is already a highly stressful experience, and dealing with such an unprofessional company only made things worse. Their last-minute changes forced me to scramble to adjust all my plans, adding unnecessary stress and frustration. If you're planning a move, I strongly advise avoiding this company. They are unreliable and unprofessional, and their actions can completely derail your plans at the last minute. Fortunately I found Tri Valley Upholstery. I send them pictures of the damaged rail and made a "reservation" to bring it in the following week to be worked on right away so as to have as brief a down downtime as possible. Ed at Tri Valley was great - I brought it in on a Tuesday and was able to pick it up on Thursday beautifully repaired for what I felt was a very reasonable price considering the work that had to be done and the excellent job they did. I searched Yelp and found this business (which had pretty good reviews) back in March, 2026. I spoke to Ed, on the phone to get the 411 on how it works with him. I had to leave a voicemail. He called me back fairly promptly. A week or two later we were in Pleasanton, so I suggested to my husband we drop by his shop to finalize the replacement cushions. We took one of the cushions in to his shop so he could take measurements and we could pick out a density of the replacement foam. So he got the measurements and we picked out the density we wanted and got aquote. He said it will take about a week to get the cushions and he will contact us. Great! We waited to hear from him, finally in the third week my husband tried to contact him via text and left a voicemail. We waited and waited and waited. I thought he's a one man show , he must be busy. I finally contacted him again June 3 (text and voicemail) and waited. I do believe he has ghosted us (as my kids say). Definitely do not recommend a business who does not have the common courtesy to return a voicemail or text. Definitely frustrating. I will resume my search. Thanks for reading to the end of my tale.
