The leg of one of my grandparent's armchairs had caved in shortly after moving into my current apartment. The repairman was able to come out, he spread blankets out to cover my floor and ensure the dust wouldn't get all over the place. He estimated repairs would take about two hours, but it was done in one. He even reinforced the leg to make sure it wouldn't collapse like it had before. (It had very ambitiously been stapled into place and it's a miracle it lasted as long as it did.) He was even able to put a new dust cover into place since the previous one had gotten shredded by the leg and then my cat. There was no mess left when he was done, and he walked me through every step as he was working. 10/10, definitely recommend. I also booked an heirloom coffee table to be picked up and refinished. I had a recliner that suddenly stopped working. Its still a good one and we didn't want it to be replaced. When looking to repair we reached out to F&R on Yelp using request to quote. It was hard to get their appointment and they do charge an inspection fee if we don't repair with them. They came in today and diagnosed it was a switch issue. They replaced it the same day. From beginning to end, Furniture & Repairs was a wonderful experience. While searching online, to replace my sofa and chair I came across a listing for F&R. After reading their ad, I thought about getting my 15 year old leather pieces reupholstered. They have survived 3 moves, been enjoyed by family and friends with various sitting modes, countless spills, and skunk musk rubbed into the sofa two times by our brave dog. The furniture was loved, but tired. Here's the good part: I called F&R for an estimate. A true craftsman, Arley, came by to see the condition and measure my furniture. We discussed various options for materials and colors. He saw that I was really attached to my furniture, and suggested re-dying them in the same color, only brighter. This suggestion not only saved money and time, it would extended the life of our furniture. Arley, a very articulate young man, cleaned and dyed them in our house. He was meticulous, he knew what he was doing. After a few hours he was done. There was no muss, no fuss, nothing to clean up. The result of the re-dye was exceptional. Short version: The steps and service were fine, probably very good for a lot of needs, but the results didn't hit the mark for us for complicated reasons. Long version: Unfortunately I don't feel I can give more than 3 stars. This is probably because our needs were very peculiar, so the approach taken wasn't quite right. A lot of negative reviews seem to focus on the pricing structure, but I found it was communicated well and fair for what it was. Other negative reviews seem to reflect communication issues, and I didn't really have any particular issues there. I appreciated that the service agent came to us and was flexible about where the service was rendered. The scheduling was slower than I would have hoped, but not bad, and not difficult to manage, so no real issue there either, for us. Our issue was that the result of the work, which focused on trying to fix padding and stuffing, didn't give good results for more than a day or two of breaking in. Again, the needs we had seemed very uncommon, so it may not be entirely fair to expect a successful resolution. Perhaps it could have been more successful if communication was better, but the strangeness of the need probably made that difficult. The agent and I did discuss the needs in a productive way, but I probably needed some more guidance to help identify the real issue we needed to address. I think the agent may have fallen for a red herring from the description that may have addressed most issues like ours, but didn't quite apply to us, or at least didn't address the whole issue. read more

I'd reached out to multiple vendors on Yelp and outside requesting re-cushioning my sectional - Most companies either never responded or quoted outrageous prices without even asking details about how big/small the project was. Furniture & Repairs was communicative, and prompt. We got an estimate, and a formal quote after an inspection pretty soon. The only glitch in this whole project was an external foam vendor having their factory shut down, but the company went above and beyond to schedule and source additional material to make sure we weren't inconvenienced too much. They provided a detailed explanation of the repairs to be done and a fair estimate. They do charge $50 to come out and inspect your piece but they are transparent about that before scheduling the inspection, and it is waived if you proceed with their estimate/repair within 7 days. After inspecting our cracked table and weighing structural vs. aesthetic factors, the technician was honest and told us that not performing a repair may be a better choice for aesthetic purposes, but still provided an estimate if we chose to continue with the repair. We were especially grateful for this honest advice - a refreshing change from other repair companies that bill you for unnecessary repairs. I really appreciated the mechanic for fixing my futon at a relatively reasonable price. Other than it being really long from inspection day on Sept 15 to it being fixed on Oct 13, overall, it's pretty decent for $275 + $50 inspection = $325 for the overall fix. I have a loveseat that had a broken frame on 3 corners and they replaced the frame and the feet of the furniture which was repair and modification. This would have been very expensive but i really didn't want to throw the couch away. I thank you guys for helping me. The fix was done in my home for approximately 2 hours to do, from 2 pm to 4pm. It was a hard fix and i could see that the mechanic was fighting to fix it, and i cannot thank him enough. read more

I am a homeowner in Pinole. A top drawer in my office desk came out and I could not get it to go back in onto its metal glides. I contacted Furniture and Repairs and made an appointment for the repair, and they sent Arley. Arley came at the agreed time, and figured out why the drawer had come off the rails in the first place (a missing metal stop). He fixed that and also straightened the glides so they worked better. He was very knowledgeable, efficient, and diligent. The only thing I will say is that I was promised a confirming email regarding my appointment which never came. It also did not go into my spam.
