We had a very good experience with the team at Marina's Crafts. We bought a mid century piece that had a dark brown stain on walnut and glossy polyurethane finish that needed updating. Marina's Crafts responded quickly and provided an estimate after we shared photos and dimensions. While they weren't the least expensive, they impressed me with their explanation of how they'd do the project, which gave me confidence in their approach and the price. Too many refinishers we talked with threw out a number without providing details, which is a red flag for me. They even offered a pickup and delivery service for a reasonable fee. The chairs were my husband's parents and the desk was from his grandmother so all are very special. Marina and Andre did not disappoint. It took about six weeks for the entire project to be completed. It's just them so they took pride and care of our furniture. I am so glad I found them! I did a lot of shopping around before settling on them. They not only had the most competitive pricing, but they also spent a ton of time with me discussing my project through messages, emails and in-person meetings. We got this kitchen seating reupholstered and another smaller bedroom seating reupholstered. When they delivered I realized 2 cushions were slightly bigger than seat , so they promptly took them back to work and re-delivered very quickly. They picked up an old cedar chest that had been scarred by moisture and being moved around for many years. The veneer was peeling, the drawer was broken. What part of "hilariously expensive estimate" did you fail to understand? I could replace the entire set for only slightly more than the estimate to refinish. I have never left a Yelp review before but felt obligated to do so after my experience with this business. We had a mid-century modern couch we wanted reupholstered. We met with them and the meeting went well. They gave us fabric books to look through and pick our new fabric. When we picked our new fabric, they told us they actually couldn't get the fabrics from the books they had shown us. We texted them to see if they could get similar fabrics and they said they could not. It was frustrating but fine because we assumed we could find another company to do this. However, when we asked to get the cushions back, they refused and they hung up the phone. We still cannot get a hold of them to get our cushions back. We honestly don't know what to do next. Marina's husband, Andrey, specializes in furniture repair. He recently completed a project for me. I wanted to convert a wine cabinet in my living room into regular cabinet for storing china, silverware, plates etc. Andrey did a great job ! He fixed all the holes from refrigeration and condensation piping, installed 1/4" redwood planks on all inside walls, made inside shelves also from redwood and covered all the inside wood and shelving with wood polish that closely matched outside stain.
