They say they are at better standing now after the puppy mills laws. But they actually worked around the law so they can get away with selling $8000 dogs. And I'm not lying that's the cost of the more expensive dogs there. The cheapest are $3000. You can go to the pound or other shelters to actually help rescue dogs. This place is a scam. I bought two puppies last January from them. Two different breeders. Spent about 9,000 for both. One was for my sons GF and one was for me. The one I had I had for about 9 months and then had severe seizures out of the blue where the emergency vet couldn't save him no matter what we did. Blood work and everything came back perfect and they said it was a neurological disorder he was born with/inherited. I contacted fur babies a couple days after and was told to send medical records to the Mgr which I did 3 times. Then they keep pushing it off on the owner that they have to review. It's been a month. I'm their paperwork it says they will give you a new puppy or a refund but obviously that's a lie as I have the proof and contacted them within 5 days. When I bought my puppy it was in the back room originally and only brought it out when I asked if they had anymore. That should have been my first clue as when I got my puppy home it was sick for weeks but nothing the vet couldn't fix. I was already in love and I wasn't taking him back. It also didn't have paperwork and they didn't know why, to me not a big deal because I wasn't buying the puppy for the paperwork but now with the very thing that happened I've realized this place is a scam. I've also found places in the area that sell the same expensive breeds for half the price and give a 10 year warranty. I've tried working things out with furbabies before I posted my review but they are ghosting me. That leaves me to only post reviews everywhere I can find to warn others and then to get my lawyer involved which will be way more then just getting my refund. Very helpful staff. Everyone was friendly and were able to answer any ?s we had. The dogs are kept together in little crib crates which I think is way better than how other pet shops keep them separate and up higher in the cages. Very clean store, happy clean puppies, and woulda loved to take one home today but will hopefully be able to get one in the future. read more

They are charging $3100 for a rescue cava poo puppy that you can buy from a reputable AKC registered breeder for $2100 and I was told the reason they do that is because the Mall charges them so much rent. Then I was told you can't go to a Porsche dealer and buy a cheap car if you're coming to them you're going to expect to pay a lot of money. People need to do the research and buy their dogs from reputable licensed breeders Or better yet go to a local rescue and actually get a dog from the local rescue not one pretending to be helping rescued animals. read more

The only good thing about this place is the puppies. They lie about everything. The price of the dogs, the financing, the vet coverage. Literally everything!!! Called to talk to the manager, of course, her employees would never lie. She said she would look into things. Never got a phone call back, not that I expected it. Got a dog from these people, which ended up very very sick and almost died. They told me to take it to their "vet", who said he would be fine and gave him some meds. We ended up in the ER shortly after, finding out the dog has pneumonia because FB never took care of the kennel cough he had. Their vet is a joke and only cares about the money, not the dogs. Thank god I took him to another vet or he may not have made it. He is still very sick, but with an actual legit vet, he may be able to pull through. We pray!! This IS a puppy mill. It has costed me almost a grand to save my dog and FB has not taken any responsibility for it. I will be filing a complaint with the Illinois State's Attorney on FB and on their "vet." (Their Vet, at this moment: Belvidere Veterinary Clinic). These people need to be shut down and put in jail! read more

This place is a puppy mill resale. I bought my husky at $5,000, yes, I did. Fell in love with Avalanche. I took her to the vet for a shots, they found a huge overbite. Because I signed the contract, I couldn't do anything, but eat the cost of alignment of her teeth. It is a sad thing to watch. They don't give them water or food, because they don't want to clean up their mess. Please, please do not buy from them. They are awful, and they do not care for the animals. They are in it for the money ONLY!!! You will be better off to go to a private breeder. Oh, yes, do not call them...they will hang up on you. I pray they go belly up!!!! They stick young people and those ignorant with loans/predatory lending, who fall in love with an animal with outrageous prices on the animal to begin with, and then 183% or more interest rates. $1500.00 will easily turn into $3500.00 or more. If you miss a payment you may never be able to pay off a small loan in a life time. Our rottweiler pup had a rare genetic disorder n a cyst was under his spine n it grew n inflamed causing inflammation to occur on his spine. We took him to uw Madison vet did mri etc and it was inoperable. He got to a point where he cldnt walk and was peeing n popping in himself. Was giving him 60mg prednisone and it did nothing for him. So today he cldnt even get up had to carry him to the car. He was suffering horribly so we put him down unfortunately. He was only two years old. We did research and found out the brreder was arrested the day after we purchased our puppy and was charged on 3 different occasions for not having a license and some other things and was found guilty on all. We contacted furybabies about this and they did nothing for us. We spent thousands of dollars on our puppy to try to save him . I give furybabies a zero and DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM read more

Yikes. As a pet professional I know I wouldn't dare buy a puppy from here. The store always has a bunch of bored, barely adult folks working in it. I have heard them on numerous occasions giving out terrible or incorrect information to potential customers. The puppies don't look very healthy and are often allowed to dash around their little cubes in their own urine. Once I came across a client who was frustrated that their Shiba Inu was shedding heavily and barked constantly (and shrilly). They didn't understand why since the people at Furry Babies who sold them the pup said their new baby was non-shedding and wouldn't bark at all. Shibas are NOTORIOUS shedders (and barkers) and even a thorough deshedding on this pup didn't quell the massive amounts of hair coming off of it. Another family I met at a park in ROckford got their Siberian Husky from FB and were also told the dog would not shed heavily. Shameful. I highly advise that if you see a puppy you like, stop, figure out what breed it is, go home, hit up Google or the American Kennel Club's website and research the breed. Finding a quality breeder via that breed's breed club and waiting a little while rather than impulsively buying a puppy from a place that is just pushing a "product" on you will make you and your new family member much happier in the long run. visited family in November and went to the mall, had no idea we'd be walking out with a pup. The staff was very nice and professional, and VERY misleading. We saw a beautiful husky on a small leash tied around a tall dresser. She was the "princess" and was the "cheapest" dog there. She had no water, none of the dogs did, or food. We were very spectacle of the price, it being $3200. Austin, the furry babies worker, said something about a payment plan. Our friend signed up and got accepted. An hour or so later, the papers were signed and we were on the way back to my sisters house. We are from Michigan and had paid for a trip to Chicago for the next few days after the purchase. On the last night of our trip, we looked at the paper work. Interest rate for the dog was at 30%! meaning the cost of the dog if not paid off in 60 months is over $6500. We come home, my friend takes Bleu, the beautiful pup, to the vet and found out that she has kennel cough, the dog flu, and parasites that furry babies bought medicine for. Furry babies do allow three free vet appointments to their personal vet, but with us living in Michigan, working and attending school, making three trips to and from would be a struggle. The first payment came out of her bank account today, they charged an extra $34 for inconvenience. She called and found out the price for bleu is   actually $3600 after taxes. If you are looking for purchasing a dog, I do NOT suggest Furry Babies. Go to  breeder or shelter like we should've... They sell sick dogs at an outrageous price. read more

We bought our puppy from the Stratford location on a Sunday evening. Monday he was coughing & it got worse & worse until I took him to my vet on Wednesday. He had kennel cough which almost turned to pneumonia. After fighting with FB about the health of the puppy the finally paid a whopping $17 for my pups meds....refused to pay the actual office visit charge. After being on antibiotics for a week he was still coughing & I had to bring him to the vet AGAIN. This time he was put on a cough suppressant & ANOTHER antibiotic. FB refused to pay anything else. This place is a joke! At one point they did say we could bring him back & exchange for a different puppy....why would I want a different sick puppy??? I would never bring my pup back to that environment anyway! read more

This place is deplorable. The puppies are crammed in small, wooden cribs with no toys or space to play. The employees dress to look like vet techs, but that's all part of a trick to hide the truth that this is a puppy mill. A French Bulldog puppy here costs$5000...why? Because as one employee attempted to explain to me: Frenchies have a lot of health problems in life... How/why would any potential medical issues factor in to what you charge? Is $5000 supposed to prevent these expensive medical episodes from happening in the first place? Or is it more likely this establishment is simply in business to make a profit off of helpless dogs and naive wannabe dog owners. In the moment, I thought it was a good idea until I got home and realized my interest rate was 30%. I have 6 months no interest and after that it will kick in. She was originally $3200. With the 60 month payment plan the price would go up to $6500. I paid my first month today and all of a sudden my dog is $3600?!?!! If looking at buying a puppy or dog in general, I DO NOT recommend Furry Babies. Go to breeder or shelter. No wonder why they say adopt not shop... dogs did not have food or water and were stuck in cribs all day. The store offers three free pet visits to THEIR vet only. Being from out of state (Michigan), working full time, and going to school full time it is hard to go back to visit their vet. So I went to our Michigan vet and she was confused as to why half the medications were ordered. My pup was diagnosed with kennel cough, had parasites, and medications that she shouldn't have had. The store ordered medicine for parasites but never fully got rid of them. I pray for those little fur babies.. and the price for these dogs are ridiculous! My pup was the cheapest one! My friend was looking at an English bulldog who was $6200... this is outrageous in price. I'm glad I got my pup and she is home safe and now feeling a lot better. No thanks to them!!! read more

These puppies are not healthy. We bought a puppy from then and she died within a week. She appeared very sick 1 1/2 days after we bought her, so we took her to the vet affiliated with Furry Babies. We went back the next day and the vet was so worried he took her overnight. We got her back the next day and by night she was so ill she couldn't hold her head up or walk. So back to the vet she went and their OWN vet told me to return her because she was so ill! So the manager promised to nurse her back to help and the next day even she took our puppy to the vet where she ended up dying the next day...1 week after we bought her. The manager had no remorse when she called with the heartbreaking news, she was more focused on telling me I could have a new puppy or a store credit! Meanwhile they will not give me a refund, or return my calls so I have filed a complaint with the BBB and hired a lawyer. Way to be unprofessional! Also I find it strange they have used 4 vets in the past 2 years that I know of....maybe it's because their vet's have wised up the the kind of puppies these people sell. read more

BEWARE!!!!! On Jan. 8th 2015 I purchased a puppy from Furry Babies Inc. in Rockford IL. She was born 10/20/2014 a very cute little bichon/poodle mix. According to her New Puppy Report Card, that we received from Furry Babies everything appeared normal. We also received her Microchip number and was told that we would have to make sure and register her. We had taken her to their vet in Yorkville for all her required visits per our contract with Furry Babies. Our first visit was 1/9/2015 in which we had supplied a stool sample and received her first set of shots. A few days later we received a phone saying that our puppy had something come back from the stool sample when I started to ask questions they said it was a mistake and not our dog. So on 2/6/15 when I came back for more shots I brought another stool sample and asked what the mix up was and to please re-test they acted like they did not know what I was talking about. At this time they also did the blood work up for the spaying that had to be done in April when they brought my puppy back to me her neck was bloody and I asked what did they do and they said they had to take it from her neck!!! I had also asked them to scan her for her chip but they said the machine needed batteries and next time they would do it?? In April she was spayed and on our re-check visit was told that all our free visit's where done and anything forward we would be paying for. So of course I started taking her to a Vet close to our house. I was told that she has no Microchip and that she has a Grade 3-4 Medial Luxating Patella which is a congenital problem. I called Furry Babies and spoke to the Manager in Aurora because Rockford transferred her records there. I was told that the one year warranty is from the time the puppy was born not from the time they are sold! She told me that they would pay for the operation only if I would go back to their Vet's. I told her I was not comfortable with that since they NEVER diagnosed it and couldn't even keep track of her poop. I would not take my dog for a serious operation that far away, what if something happens and I have to get her back to the vet's. Plus as soon as I found out she has this issue we set her operation up so it does not get worse. I feel Furry Babies should pay this bill I did everything I was supposed to do. read more

July/2017: I bought a chocolate lab for $3000 from Furry Babies in Rockford Illinois. The puppy was sick with Giardia. My puppy was 6 months old by the time it was gone and I took my puppy to my vet to get it taken care of after 6 trips to their recommended vet. Then when the puppy was 7 months he had subluxation of the hip (hip dislocation). I spoke to a manager and she told me I had to take my dog to their vet over 1 hour away and they had been doing business with this vet for 10 years. I told her that was unreasonable and my vet was 2 miles up the road and I had been doing business with my vet for 17 years. I told her I would have to take off work to make the travel and she told me they would ship my dog there and drop him off. I adamantly stated No as they could kill my dog and there was no one to speak for him. I was told I would then have a store credit to purchase another dog. I went off on her and then she told me she would speak to the owners and call me back. Never heard back. I would never do business with this store again. And the breeders or puppy mill or where ever these poor puppy's come from should not be breeding chocolate labs. If they were reputable they would cover the cost. BUYER BEWARE THEY SELL DEFECTIVE ANIMALS! If you get a healthy one you are very lucky. Its obvious that their practices have NOT changed. read more

She is part of our family and we love having peace of mind knowing that she is NOT from a Puppy Mill and that her first year of vaccines and other procedures are covered as well. Well I worked for Furry Babies in Rockford for years. I know the current staff very well and held every job title they have during my years there. As I am reading some of these reviews, I feel the need to get you all on the right track and give you insider information. The beautiful puppies in the cribs, are NOT from puppy mills. At one point, I was the person who went through all of the new puppies information, made sure they were vet checked, and even looked up the breeder information for each one to print out inspection reports and ensure they had no violations. I have ACTUAL knowledge not just speculation or assumptions from someone's opinion. During my time there I also purchased a puppy. She is the love of my life. That's something to explain too, she is a life!! What do we know about life? Well we get sick, we have diarrhea sometimes, we puke, we get tired, when our kids go to daycare they get things from other children, we know that there is eventually death, and we also know that there are children born with defects everyday. Does that mean their parents did something wrong? Does that mean their parents were abused and produced a defected child? NO! My puppy has never had any issues, but I was never naïve in thinking she would never get sick her entire life. Also, I was a person who spoke with customers and showed them our babies. I went through training, and let me tell you, Furry Babies is very concerned with professionalism and ensuring their staff has the tools necessary to meet the customer's needs. They train their staff more than my last job trained me. I came in and they welcomed me with open arms and answered all of my questions without hesitation. Now about the staff: Someone on here commented that they are bored, barely adults. Let me inform you without giving all of their personal information. First you must understand, NO-ONE cleans poop and pee without a passion for the animal they are cleaning up after. They get peed on, pooped on, and they get yelled at by people who just had a bad day and need to yell. They don't go to work, nor did I, to get beat up by all the people with their wrong opinions, they didn't go to work to get peed or pooped on, they as well as myself, went to work because of our love for the babies and the people we worked with. There is a girl who is completing school to be a radiologist, engaged, and owns her home. There is a girl who is married with a baby and owns her own home, there is a couple that works there who has a beautiful daughter and they live on their own being responsible parents and pursuing their dreams. There is a girl there who moved in with her future husband, while they both are finishing college. There is a guy there that is about to get his accounting degree and just wanted a job he loved while in college. There is another girl there who is enjoying her work while she pursues her college dreams. There is a woman probably older than most of you writing reviews, who works hard to support her and her daughter. She not only works full time there, she goes to college online, and is the only form of support for her daughter. The owners? Well let's talk about them. A staff member went out and bought their child new shoes. They couldn't afford anything nice, just something cheaply made to get their child through that stage. When the owner saw the child's shoes, he immediately took the child to finish line and bought them a good pair of shoes. Another staff member didn't have a car. The owner took a day and took that staff member car shopping and helped them get a car for their family. Another staff member had a mother pass away out of state. They were a wreck. So the owners let them go to that state for as long as needed to help their family and welcomed them back when they were ready. Because they didn't have a place to stay when they came back, the owners opened up their personal home to them until they got on their feet. The owners are animal lovers which is why they opened their business. They have a beautiful daughter who is the love of their lives. They are not evil because they chose to pursue the American dream, doing something they love so they never feel they are working a day in their life. They have rescued several animals. The wife has even rescued raccoon babies and cared for them until they could go out on their own. There are countless stories I could give you, as over the years working for Furry Babies I had become friends with each and every member there. They were my second family. Even as I don't work there any longer, because I chose to pursue my college dreams, I still consider them my family. Please don't just go on yelp and say things that aren't true or exaggerate your stories because you are typing in haste and with emotion. Understand that what you say about people and businesses effects them. These are real people, and there is always more to a negative story than people reveal. Hope this helped. read more

This doesn't have as much to do with the dogs as it does the owner, Roger Trolinger. This guy is a snake, a scam artist. He asked me to rebuild his furry babies website because he was very upset with the current company he was using (Townsquare Interactive) and that he was sick of paying $750 per month for the site. I told him I'd do it for $2500, he talked me down to $1500. Fine whatever, no big deal. So on good faith, I spent many hours, many nights recreating the website. The website went live, the 5 different locations used it and updated their puppies. When it came time to pay for the work I had done, he vanished. Absolutely vanished. Disappeared. Wouldn't return phone calls, wouldn't return texts. Meanwhile, I had paid for services and hosting for a few months out of my own pocket. This guy is straight scum. Finally, he came around to saying that he never agreed for me to rebuild the site, as if the meeting I had with him and my buddy had never happened, as if the string of text messaging I had from him didn't exist, as if the back and forth emails I had with him were simply made up, as if he didn't force his previous web host to transfer furrybabiesinc.com to my GoDaddy account. No, all this was chalked up to it never happening in the first place. This guy is a liar, I should've never trusted a guy with Trol in his last name. He sounds like complete trash when he talked about going to the breeders and getting first pick of the best of the best puppies to sell in his stores. Please do not buy from him and support his cowardly life. He absolutely only cares about money, and finding the next quick thing to make a quick buck. He wanted me to build an application which allowed him to buy as many highly sought after shoes as possible right when they became available so that he could mark them up double, triple, and quadruple prices to sell to people the next day. I'm so glad I didn't waste the time on that. He said he's a man of God, but once you decipher all the obscenities and horrible thoughts he spews, you realize he's just a snake slithering to the next victim. read more

Last year I fell in love with a morkie here and bought it. The girl gave us all completely false information about the dog. She told us he was going to be around 3 pounds fully grown. My dog is now 10 pounds, and still growing. They also told me that my puppy was around 8 weeks. The next day we took my puppy to the vet because he seemed sick. We were informed that the vet thought he was only 4-5 weeks old and had not been weened off his mother yet. He now has severe seperation anxiety because of this. He was also very sick when we got him. He had kennel cough and a variety of other things. We were told that all vet visits would be included for the first year, making the price of the dog very good. They leave out that they don't pay for certain visits which were most of the vet visits that he needed! It's been a year, I originally paid 2 grand for this dog and 3 grand on vet visits. I would appreciate furry babies to stand up for what they did wrong and give a refund. read more

My boyfriend and I purchased a rottweiler from Furry Babies in Cherry Vale Mall under the impression that the pup was from a private, safe breeder. They actually verbally told us that but they were very misleading. I looked up the breeder in Ohio yes he is licensed but when you google maps his address it just looks like a puppy mill! There was no clear cut website or anything on him (very fishy)!! The guy Robert Beachy actually got wrote up in 2011-2012 for a sick English bulldog, unsafe living conditions, and etc. I would never not want our baby but we look at it now like we saved his life, our little blessing. We are very lucky he was healthy unlike some of the puppies at Furry Babies. I don't care how they try to word it to look good any GOOD BREEDER WOULD NOT SELL THEIR PRIDE AND JOY TO A PET STORE!!!
