This was a bad experience. This breed is new to us, and both my wife and I were berated for not doing a good job of grooming between visits. The groomer basically took my head off but was happy to charge me over $200.00 for something that looked like a close shave. Maybe if she had told us the first time our dog was there, we could have brought her every second month, as we now learn is important with this breed. The dog is so closely cut that it looks like she is being punished for our bad behaviour. I acknowledge we could have done a better job, but shaming a customer never works. I am sorry I gave a tip, but I was in a bit of shock from the treatment I received. We have been coming here for years, but we certainly cannot go back. So unnecessary! We certainly will not post pictures of our dog here. We are pretty embarrassed about all this. read more

By far the best groomer I have ever been to. Never had any issues and the price is also great. I have 100lbs German Shepherd so it's not an easy task. The staff has always been pleasant and always does an amazing job. All these negative reviews are just people who don't know how to care for a dog in the first place, and want someone to blame it on. read more

We have used Furry Friends in the past and they were very good. Our last experience was very negative and we will not be returning. Our puppy - a new breed for us - needed a lot of grooming. The hair is fine and easily matted and she had been outside a lot this summer enjoying puppy life. I asked the groomer if this might take two sessions but was told the pup would get a close cut. When my partner went to pick up the dog, he was berated for not taking care of our puppy and not staying on a grooming schedule, which had not been told to us the first time we brought her there. She has such a close shave that there are bare spots where the skin shows through. A day after the experience, she has been very distanced (usually highly affectionate) and needing lots of TLC. This seems not to have been a good experience for her, nor for us. We are very disappointed. read more

I turned up with our Dachshund for her nail trimming at the alotted time but was promptly told to stand outside until they were ready to see us. It was -18c outside so we decided to leave immediately. They called shortly afterwards and left a message. The reason we were told to leave was because they had a loose dog inside and they couldnt find the lead. They were concerned that the dog in question would bolt out into the street. As far as I'm concerned, if they can't control the animals that they are paid to look after then I will certainly not entrust them with my dog. Absolute shambles. I've taken friends' cats to groomers many times, and I have taken my own cats to other groomers outside of Ottawa before.... the thing with a trip to the groomer is that your kitty's state of mind at the start of the trip plays a huge factor in what kind of experience you are likely to get. If your kitty just spent the whole morning interacting with new strangers, and you clearly struggled to get your kitty into the carrier bag to bring her to the groomer.... and then upon arrival you are in a rush to leave the groomer because you are trying too hard to do too many things in too little time, your kitty is going to feel abandoned and you should not be surprised that your kitty is super stressed out when you return to pick up your furbaby If your kitty has spent the morning cuddling with you, and you had nil problems getting your kitty into the carrier bag to bring her to the groomer.... and you spent some time with your furbaby as the groomer gets started, it should not be difficult for you to anticipate the probability of a less stressful session will be higher right? So here we go.... I brought my kitties for their first visits to this business on Tue 15 Oct 19 and on Thu 17 Oct 19; and I had a phenomenal experience. The receptionist Vanessa was a total sweetheart, and the groomer/owner Chantal was fabulous with my fur babies. There was very little for me to do as Chantal was very proactive in asking me questions. She had no objections at all to me watching her work, which is a very good indicator that she is very competent and she is very confident in her ability to handle my kitties When I was there, there was a house cat and dog. Their house cat was super mellow, and the dog was naturally curious as I was a new customer. Aside from two or three "welcome!" barks initially, the house dog was quiet and super sweet! The place was as clean as a groomer's business can be expected: the reception area was immaculate, and the working room itself had fluffs of dog/cat fur everywhere. Unless you can put your hand on your own heart and swear your home is kept utterly free of dog/cat fur, you need to manage your own silly expectations of how clean you think a groomer's business should/shouldn't be After staying with my furbaby each time for about 10 mins, I left and then came back, and my furbaby looked great! And once again Chantal had no problems with me watching her finish up Am very much going to come back again! read more

This groomer is very professional. I have been bringing my dog to Chantal for 12+ years. I have always had great service, excellent grooming, and solid support to calm my very nervous girl before, during and after her grooming sessions. I had tried other places but was never satisfied. So... They are about $20 more expensive than others, but they are right in my neighbourhood, and wow are they good. My dog looks incredible, and I'll pay for the difference again. All staff were polite and totally pet friendly. Give them a try. read more

My dog Maple LOVED this place! She was immediately comfortable with the staff when we dropped her off, and she was so happy when we picked her up. Extremely overpriced for the mediocre service carried out by the grooming staff. If I'm paying 80 dollars (after tax) for a tiny 6 pound dog, it better be exactly what I instructed. However, even after specific instructions about how to trim my dog- All they did was shave my dog down. I could've bought my own trimmer and done that at home for cheaper. Do not recommend. I have a very difficult cat that even the vet assistants are afraid of when trying to clip her nails. Chantale and furry friends was recommended by a friend with experience dealing with difficult pets. I haven't looked back...the way the staff deal with my difficult cat is amazing, they treat her like one of their own. Since going to Furry Friends, my cat is less traumatized about getting her nails clipped and is more trusting now. She even let's them groom her and shave her into a stylish lion cut! read more

I brought my himalayan cat here a total of three times, in the past year. The first two times I was happy with the experience. However, the last time (a week ago), I was largely disappointed. When I walked in there were more dogs in the grooming area than the previous two visits. The owner seemed a bit stressed, and asked me three times about my cat's demeanour and expected haircut. I was pretty clear in my explanation, figuring she would give a similar groom as in the past. My partner picked the cat up so I didn't see her until she got home. I was not impressed. Her fur was shorter than I had asked for (I had said "not too short"...). As well, her eyes were still goopy, so obviously no eye wipe. She also didn't smell as fresh as she had last time coming home from the groomers. Sadly, the worst was how she had been groomed around her neck. It was too short in the back of her head, uneven on the sides and honestly looks like it was rushed. I am not happy. I am not even sure how the first two times had such good results, compared to this time. I assume overbooking for the day was a big factor. My cat has been extremely clingy since coming back (anxiety) and it is clear the experience was not one I want to repeat. Chantal is a nice person but the last time was disappointing enough to not wish to return. read more
