I had the best painless two weeks after the surgery, then I did things that tweaked the fusion's placement. Dr. Baquie and his surgical team did an awesome job. Suggestions: with any spinal surgery a before surgery and after surgery immediately visit to the physical therapy to learn about recovery movements. I was taught after the surgery while still recovering from the surgery drugs and the recovery Fentanyl a few ways to move. My husband tried to understand the directions for me. When I had my knee replacement, an OT/PT nurse was sent to my house immediately to coach me on my recovery. This was only for two weeks, but it was extremely valuable. I had a quick and uneventful. He seemed to be nodding off when we first started but I didn't say anything, I just wondered why I wasn't feeling any "pressure." 30 minutes in he was sitting on the edge of the table and he fell into such a deep sleep that he almost slid off and he startled himself awake. I said you fell asleep! He ignored me, stood up, walked to the other side of the table and asked how I felt. I told him no better, still in pain. How else was I supposed to feel if little to no work had been done? He finished up and 45 minutes into my appointment said I tried and then left the room. I checked out with a young lady and told her the room is way too hot and that he fell asleep. She kind of chuckled and went into it was like the three little bears and never being able to get the temperature just right throughout the rooms. She then asked if I wanted to schedule a next appointment and after I hesitated and said I'd call, she said "to see how you feel?" and I said yes. Not one apology. Not any attempt to rectify the situation or offer a reduced rate, or to come back...nothing. As I got into my car, a nice pinch on the left side of my neck developed and hasn't subsided 10 hours later. All I wanted and hoped for was some relief! Back to the drawing board I guess. Back story: I went for the first time today after rave reviews from my mom who has been going to see him for over a year after knee surgery. I have had lower right back pain from bulging discs/sciatic nerve for 5 years now and have tried massages, chiropractors, physical therapy, and lots of pain meds. This summer I tried new pillows and messed up my left hip and neck/shoulders and just a chronic walking zombie.
