They're all so kind, well mannered, sing, and play with the babies like they're their own. (Ms. Dolker sings so beautifully in her native tongue!) We're first time parents, and they spend all day with our girl, so they've really helped with milestones, and have given great suggestions on a better feeding/nap schedule (different to what google has suggested). I love seeing the older kids run to Ms. Dolker and Ms. Kesang when they come pick up their younger siblings. They miss their previous teachers, and even spoke Tibetan!! There is no charge to leave your stroller for the day like a lot of other daycares in the neighborhood, but the space is a little tight. The other parents are super friendly and really make it a great community to be part of.

It's rare to find a daycare in the city that takes the kids outside, and I REALLY appreciated that she has an outdoor space for when the weather is warm. She makes the kids homemade food, and sends many photos during the day. She also does the most adorable and fun holiday celebrations with the kids and sent home really generous holiday gifts for my son, which was such a kind and beautiful surprise! She is extremely communicative, answers questions quickly and sends updates frequently. She is very understanding of changes to our schedule, if we were running late, wanted to pick him up early, or traveling out of town one week, she was always very accommodating. On a personal note, I did wish there were more opportunities to meet other families and kids that attended the daycare - I never really knew who my son spent time with during the day, and was hoping to build our community in the neighborhood as a new, first-time mom. You are also not allowed to go into the daycare room - she takes the kids at the door, and brings them out at the end of the day. We did have a tour of the room before he began attending, so we got to see the room in person at that time, but after that, you never really get to see where or how your child spends their time during the day apart from the photos she sends. We had managed to split shifts to care for him without daycare/babysitting but my work required more time. I examined many options but found myself at home with Alicia and team. Of course I was anxious at first but they immediately embraced my son (and my tribe). They have been an integral part of his life from prepping him for school to the actual school year(s). When he went to elementary school, they picked him up after school so they interacted with his teachers. They kept me on track with what Buddy needed for school! There's not enough space for me to list the many examples of what makes them wonderful. In a few words - loving support for my child. He's now 11 and in middle school much further away. We miss them BUT Alicia and Tasha still send me texts to see how he's doing! On school breaks, he asks to "be with them" after all, his core group of friends still go back too! And no matter when I call, they welcome us home! They've been first responders and supporters for us in so many critical ways. I can't say that they are just a "daycare"; for 7 years they are also a family.

JiggleSprouts is a Home Group Family Daycare located in on the Glendale Ridgewood border, just…read moreminutes away from Fresh Pond Road. My daughter attends this "pre-school" (targeted for ages 2-4) and simply loves going there. This place is as dream for parents as well. Every wonder what your kid is doing during the day? Not anymore. Not only do the parents get provided with a monthly calendar of their children's curriculum, but it is followed up with homework each night. Homework? Not to worry. it's usually something simple like coloring in a shape or letter of the week. Just something to reinforce the lesson of the day. Supplementing the lessons my child brings home all sorts of arts and crafts; polar bears made of construction paper and cotton balls, finger paintings, a paper Chinese lantern (celebrating Chinese New Year etc.) So not only is my child having fun, she is receiving a rich experience and learning about various cultures and American holidays. I also like the fact that my child goes outside almost every day. I believe it is important for children to get fresh air every day, and I have had to hold my tongue in the past, at the excuses of childcare providers on why my daughter wasn't getting it. Unless there is a blizzard, or really bad rain, or it is in the teens, I see little reason why children can't go out for just a little while, providing they are healthy and dressed appropriately. That is no longer an issue for me at JiggleSprouts. The children go outside, either in the backyard, a walk around the block, or a walk to the playground just a few blocks away, almost every day. Additionally, the parents receive a weekly menu of breakfast, snacks and lunch. It's good to know not only your child is eating healthy food, but WHAT they are eating on a daily basis. This helps meal planning at home and put a mother's mind at ease as far as nutrition. Lastly, parents receive a daily report, in writing. Nothng is more frustrating than not knowing whether your kid took a nap, whether they ate lunch, if they went #2s etc. The daily report includes all those things and you no longer have to try to extract that information during the hectic pickup routine. I'm thoroughly pleased with this preschool. It is by far the best thing offered in walking distance from Fresh Pond Road. No other facility runs a close second. No other preschool environment in the area offers such detailed information for the parents, such a rich and warm homey but intellectually stimulating environment for the children, and lastly, such a good teacher/child ratio. As I mentioned at the beginning of this review, my daughter loves this place. She is always happy to go there, and is always happy when I pick her up. The only "downside" if you can call it that, is my daughter is so tired at the end of the day, that she falls asleep before her bath or before dinner. But to me, that is a good thing. A toddler is supposed to tired at the end of a fullfilling, rich day. Anyione who is looking for a full-time curriculum for their kid, should look no further than JiggleSprouts.
