The service here is SO great. The wine is fabulous outside patio is darling. Quaint and perfect for a great conversation. The shop inside has so many cute trinkets and candles etc. couldn't help myself. Love this spot.

Future Perfect is def one of my faves. Sunny, Nate, and Gillian deliver every visit. I feel like I'm part of the family when I visit. Thank you for being so friendly to those gays, also.

If you're not stopping in here, what are you doing? This is my favorite place in Los Olivos. We went in December and fell in love with the tasting room and Gillian. We just went back this past weekend (3.9.25) and met two new characters, Jenae and Nicole, and fell even more in love. The champagne is to DIE for. Also, I don't like reds and I wanted to take all of their reds home, that's how good they are. Don't get me started on the merchandise, take all my money. The service, the wine, the atmosphere and the personalities in here make this a must visit every time. Obsessed with them.

TURN UP THE SUNSHINE! I adore this place. I was introduced to FP by a friend of mine during her 30th birthday wine tasting extravaganza. Our first stop was this gem of a tasting room where we were greeted by a bubble maker, rotating disco ball, and of course miss sunshine herself. Absolutely blown away. As a queer person, visiting small towns can sometimes be a bit uncomfortable. Not always, but most times yes. I was shocked and overwhelmed with acceptance when I saw this place. Later throughout the day I realized just how LGBTQ friendly the entire town is. No judgement, just great wine and conversation. During my original visit I took home their pride edition sparkling wine which was a cute addition to a pride party I hosted the following weekend so I had to buy it again this time around. Unfortunately, it was sold out so I instead took home a special sparkling wine which wasn't even on the menu. Exclusivity always sells me. Their gift shop is adorable with a lot of great custom pieces. I took home a card which I didn't get a pic of but it basically explained that all roads lead to wine. Duh! Highly recommend this place. It's a sweet pick me up spot with incredible wines. Their Riesling is incredible too. Thanks Future Perfect! X

Keep your face to the sun and you will never see the shadows -- Helen Keller I met Sunshine first at Solminer where she recommended Story of Soil. Loved the rec. Eventually, she worked at Story of Soil and recommended Holus Bolus, as I was wearing a Prince hat. Loved the rec again :-) Now she runs her own joint at Future Perfect. She is a lovely human who makes lovely wines that very much have the current tasting profile. Tonight I'm drinking get feminine version of Tempranillo that is too easy to drink with lower alcohol. It retails for $48 which is definitely pushing the price point for a newer winery. Your mileage may vary of course. Next to Dreamcote Winery who are also fab. Highly recommended.

This place is truly amazing and so is the wine maker, Sunny. She is definitely a ray of sunshine and everyone that meets her agrees with me. You will not be disappointed with the wine they offer here; it's 100% my favorite wine and the varieties are second to none. Honestly I have never been to a wine tasting room where I loved all of the wines. The grenache is fabulous and smooth and probably my favorite; but honestly I love all of the wines she creates. I wish I could become a member but there is a long waiting list for that. I can honestly say that this place is spectacular and I am so happy that Sunny is doing so well with this business; so happy for her. She deserves it!!! Inside the tasting room, she has some adorable items and accessories you can purchase. I bought a bracelet, necklace and hat. I plan to buy more items in the near future as well. The outdoor porch is so cute and is a perfect spot to relax and drink so wine while enjoying the great outdoors with fabulous company. You must try Future Perfect Wine if you are in the area; I guarantee you will love it and won't be disappointed.

Sunshine is a wonderful host and wine maker. Very friendly and attentive! She was running the place by herself and we never felt like we were not being attended to. The wine selection was great and we needed up taking home 2 bottles. The sparkling rose was really good. Not usually a sparkling wine guy but this was very pleasant and not overly bubbly. The porch pounder was dangerous with how good it was. Not a fan of rosé because of sweetness but this wasn't sweet. Really nice subtle tones and just one of my favs. The breakfast wine was really good as well. Very fruity aroma but not sweet. Not very tart just a light white wine. We ended up with a bottle of this and the porch pounder as the subtleness was too good to miss out on. Grenache- I like Grenache but this one kind of fell flat to me. It wasn't bad but I wanted more out of it. Good light body but there was depth missing to me. Overall a great little spot and amazed she's only been open for 10 months. The price of bottles outweighs the price of glasses so do yourself a favor, check it out and buy some bottles

Future Perfect lived up to the hype. Sunshine and the gang were wonderful and served up delicious wines. Thanks to Peasant's Feast for the rec!

I absolutely enjoyed coming here! The atmosphere is fun, welcoming and comfortable. I loved walking into the store and browsing the amazing knickknacks being sold. Sunshine, the owner, was beyond warm and friendly! I adored her right from the beginning. My friend and I did a taste testing then enjoyed a glass of wine afterwards. The front porch is quiet and allows you to people watch while sipping your wine. The wine itself was amazing! The Grenache was hands down my favorite. Go check this place out and enjoy your time there.

I recently visited Future Perfect Wines up in Los Olivos. The wine was amazing and the tasting were a perfect mix of rosés, whites and a red for a warm summer day. The staff was very kind and knowledgeable about the selection and I'd highly recommend stopping in if you're in the Los Olivos or want a fun outing for the day. 10 of 10 and I look forward to my next visit!!!

The positive first: walking in everybody was super friendly and greeted us with a smile, and sat us down right away on the patio since we had our dog with us. We ordered the baked brie appetizer and two glasses of red wine. My husband had the Austin Hope Cab and I had a red blend. I don't remember the brand name. It was a little bit expensive for a glass of wine. I wanna say around $25 but we both were in the mood for a good wine and wanted to treat ourselves. The baked Brie was delicious. Negative: the fish and chips and the service. I was so excited to see fish and chips on the menu because it was halibut. I'm used to cod in fish and chips so of course I had to order since I am a huge halibut lover. The table next to us also said what an amazing meal that was and ordered one to go. We received our fish and chips from not our server and the person dropped the meal and left without asking us if we needed anything. My husband and I looked at the fish and chips and immediately started laughing. It looked like little fish nuggets as opposed to fish! I kind of thought we were being punked. We waited and waited for the server to come by or a manager or some thing and could not get anybody to come talk to us. It took 14 minutes for her to finally come tap on our table and ask if everything was OK. We told her it was not OK and to look at the size of the fish and she said she would go tell the kitchen and asked if we wanted to remake it. At that point, we weren't even hungry anymore. We were just kind of annoyed at the entire situation. She comes back out a few minutes later and says we're going to take it off of your bill. We don't see her for a while and then the manager comes over and says we took it off of your bill. He didn't ask if there's any way to make it right he just said OK anyways and walked away at the end. Being in the restaurant industry for many years, I thought this was pretty offensive. If I were him, I probably would have made another one right away or offered something they are known for like their pizza. So overall, I wouldn't be back. I think there's many other restaurants around there and to be treated like that after how we were served....no thank you!

Carhartt Family Wines gets five stars for being the only tasting room in Los Olivos that stays open…read morepast 6:00. It was the first of five tastings we did during our weekend in town, and the wines were, admittedly, the least impressive. They went down easy, though, and we had a pleasant visit. We checked into our hotel on Friday around 5:30 and quickly realized that all the wineries on our list were closed. We asked the receptionist where we might be able to do a tasting, and she said Carhartt was our best bet. It was quite open when we walked in, almost intimidatingly so, the live music loud as we rounded the sidewalk outside the enclosed patio. Jack welcomed us into the tasting room and suggested we do a vibe check on the patio before deciding where to sit. We peeked outside and it seemed fun in a way we weren't looking for, a bit of a party atmosphere with a live band and a lot of people. We took our seats in the quieter tasting room, where we were able to enjoy the music from a distance while we drank some wine. We both did the house tasting, which came with five pours of Carhartt wines: the 2024 Top Branch, the 2022 Sin Nada, the 2022 Sangiovese, the 2022 Rebel Roan, and the 2020 Northerly. Jack also gave us a taste of the 2021 Graciano. They were all nice wines, but we particularly liked the Sin Nada, the Sangiovese, and the Graciano, and took home two bottles of each, getting one $25 tasting fee waived with each purchase of three bottles. Jack was a great host, and he told us all about the wines and winery as we went along. (He pre-empted our first question, saying that yes, they were the same Carhartts as the Carhartt clothing label, but not the same company. I guess just the classic generational wealth to winemaking pipeline.) It was a helpful introduction to both the Carhartt wines and Los Olivos, and Jack was good company. I said Carhartt was the least impressive of the wineries we visited, but it's also worth noting that it had the lowest price point. Carhartt isn't gunning for Robert Parker ratings. The wines are accessible and tasty, and I have a feeling we'll go through our bottles very fast.

They take the time to explain the wines without ever making you feel rushed, and their passion shows in every conversation. An experience defined by outstanding service, lovely wines, and a warm, easygoing vibe. And as an added bonus, they're wonderfully dog-friendly -- making it even more welcoming for everyone. Overall, it's hands-down the best place in Los Olivos. It's definitely my go-to whenever I'm in town, and I genuinely look forward to visiting a few times a year. We'd had one of the pinots at a fancy restaurant a few years back and knew the place had a good reputation. We also appreciated the easy walk-in situation on a Saturday afternoon. The tasting room was casual and charming, part "mercantile," selling wine, of course, and sundry gift items and home goods. There was plentiful seating, some of it at the bar and some of it in what felt like a large living room, homily decorated with lots of art on the walls. It was pretty busy while we were there, but not in the least bit crowded. We sat at the bar, which was run by an enormous former football player (if I eavesdropped correctly) and a woman from New Zealand on the verge of retirement. I'd watch that movie. We were helped by the woman, who was friendly and knowledgeable, a great guide to the house wines. The flight started with the 2025 Rosé of Mourvédre, then went to Liquid Farm's Chardonnays and Pinots. There was the 2024 White Hill Chardonnay, the 2024 Golden Slope Chardonnay, the 2023 "SBC" Pinot Noir, the 2023 Fiddlestix Pinot Noir, and the 2023 Four Pinot Noir. The wines were fantastic across the board. The tasting fee was $40, on the steep side, probably because the space invites casual drinking. It was easily waived, with one flight waived per two bottles purchased. The wines were all between $30 and $94, so this was easy math. The kind of easy math that had us leaving Los Olivos with a trunk--and back seat--full of wine. The inn leans into the old west aesthetic, but the tavern is just elegant and attractive, with leather furniture, a high vaulted ceiling, and a lot of windows. It was pleasantly bustling on a Friday night, with what seemed like a mix of hotel guests and other visitors. Los Olivos has a population that hovers around 1,000, so this restaurant, like the stagecoach stop, is there to serve travelers. Accordingly, service was first class. There was a full bar with elaborate cocktails and plenty of wine from the area. We ordered two rounds of cocktails, as we planned to drink wine all weekend, and they were all very good. The Vaquero Campfire was a refreshing mezcal drink with pink peppercorn, honey, and charred grapefruit. The Cigars & Horses was a boozy mix of bourbon, yellow chartreuse, and smoked cinnamon. Los Rancheros Vistadores was a pleasantly bitter tequila cocktail, with reposado, amaro, Aperol, and orange olive oil. And the Pinochle Punch was a smooth blend of milk-clarified rye, cognac, and orange. We ordered wines by the glass to go with our entrees, and these were both lovely, too. The Sandlands Lodi Red Table Wine and the Racines Mattei's Cuvée, a Chardonnay that must have some connection to Mattei's Tavern. The food was delicious. We started with a half dozen oysters with mignonette and lemon and Gin's tuna carpaccio, topped with scallion, radish, ginger dressing, and cold-pressed California olive oil. Then we had Mattei's house focaccia, served with cultured butter and herb oil, and the country pâté, with cherry, tarragon, and sourdough. The entrées were both excellent. The Channel Islands rockfish was beautifully cooked, served in a vibrant tomatillo sauce with hoja santa, with sides of roti, grilled avocado, and grilled lime. The Colorado lamb was tender and juicy with a nice spiced crust. It came with couscous, vadouvan, mint yogurt, onion, and dates. For dessert, we shared the affogato: vanilla ice cream, Handlebar espresso. Hard to think of a better way to wind down a big meal. We charged dinner to the room and got $100 through a hotel promotion. This covered some of our drinks. The Tavern is not a cheap restaurant, but it is a great one, well worth checking out on your visit to Los Olivos.

Service is where things fell short both times. It took about 40 minutes to get our breakfast after ordering, and it was pretty obvious the plates had been sitting under a heat lamp for a bit. I used to work in food service, so it's something I tend to notice. We weren't in a rush, but we did need to be in and out within an hour. By the time the food came, we had maybe 15 minutes to eat and had to ask for the check right away just to stay on schedule. Overall, it's a great spot if you have the time to hang, but I'd be cautious coming here if you're on any kind of timeline.
