Dr. English is great but all the front desk staff and people who help you with glasses at FYi in Sechelt are useless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never gave or sent me my eye exam results without pestering them for it. Never forwarded my test results to my eye specialist with out perstering for that either. Looking at glasses to purchase, the person helping me was totally clueless. Will never go there again. Is too bad, as I do think Dr. English is very good eye doctor. Unfortunate he works under their roof. I would not go to any FYi in any city. Was not impressed with them in the past and this nailed it for me. read more

$183 for an eye test (incl. reading sight) seems like a lot. And their quote for progressive glasses (frame + lenses) was $600. Ended up taking the prescription to Clearly and got Armani frames + lenses for $401. read more

So I want to say that the glasses I've bought from FYI and Dr. Wood's private office in Gibsons before that, for many years now, have been better than anything I had previously in my life, and I've worn glasses for about 60 years now. This is why I NEVER buy my contacts online: very sore eye last 24 hrs, got an emergency appt with Dr. Wood at FYI in Wilson Creek, who then got me in immediately with specialist Dr. Nelson. Serious corneal infection - those of us who wear contacts are at risk of getting them, even with one-wear dailies, and more so for diabetics - drops every half hour for a day or so. This is the second time in 7 years an infection has occurred and we caught it very early this time... because Dr. Wood knows my eyes and what to do right from the beginning. No amount of $$ savings on mail order contacts could convince me to go without Dr. Wood and FYI on my health care team. read more

I phoned to make a appointment and the receptionist kept talking to me while I continued to ask her to please wait a minute so she could enter new billing info while she had my file up. She was persistent, refused to listen to what was being asked of her. I explained my condition and was looking for expertise. Appt given. Call came in from a doctor there saying i was rude and he was actually rude himself while telling me my appt was cancelled unless I phoned back to apologize to reception. I said I do not believe I have any thing to apologize for and then was given the same treatment of not being listened to when asking to wait. With what has transpired during what should have been a easy phone call I would not recommend this office to any one with the way they treat their patients with threats, verbal harassment and non-listening skills. Typical corporate run machine franchise. Go to a real Doctors office and lets not provide them with income. read more

Went in to get an order of contacts, they told me the contacts would be in store and ready to pick up in 3-5 business days... 3 weeks later, I gave them a call to which the reception blew me off and told me they "would call me when they are there." Turns out they forgot to order them, and it was over a month before I received my contacts. VERY UNHAPPY. read more

This place is absolutely horrible, poor customer service, bad selection of eyewear, and extremely long wait times whether you need to see an optometrist or want to purchase a pair of glasses with an existing prescription. Every time I have been here I was shuffled off to sit in their waiting room like its a walk in clinic, even when I made an appointment beforehand. Just ridiculous. There was plenty of staff around but the two customers who were there, were left to wait for over 20 min in the waiting room while staff walked around chatting amongst themselves, I cannot imagine how they keep any customers. There are other options on the Sunshine Coast for eye care. I would recommend you save yourself the frustration, time, and poor treatment of this place and visit one of the others. Great finds. We have had to buy a washers, dryers and hot water heater from them over the years when we have had ours and another family members breakdown. Nice to find a suitable replacement at a good price. The old washer that I found last time was better than the new one I bought, It's lasting longer too! If your not picky you can find all kinds of things there. read more

I could write a page but to be brief.....glasses ordered squeeked.....they tried to suggest quietly that was the best they could do...when I insisted by taking of my glasses I had been wearing and flexing them and their was no squeaking they sent them back.....when I returned in a week....same thing....they had promised to contact the lab when they had returned them....I asked them about that and they said they sent a note???? Sent a note...appalling....so now they actually said they had no idea.....again...what has happened is they just did not care....they were so busy that it was easier to refund the money.....but all is good because I went to Costco...and upgraded the glass quality and did the purchase for $220 less....yes I saved $220.....a 22% savings...should have gone their in the first place read more

Very professional operation, but expensive. These docs used to have a modest practice in Sechelt then they moved, spent a FORTUNE remodelling and redecoratiing this former car dealership so now they have to charge more to recoup their investment. read more

If you ever get a chance to go to FYI Doctors ... DONT!!! The optometrists are paid a percentage of the glasses they sell ... so more time on selling and less time on doing a proper eye exam! They just cost me $400 for a wrong eye glass prescription; the doctor rushed through the tests and then poked around my glasses explaining why I should also buy prescription sun glasses. After trying to adjust to the new prescription for a few months (glasses not bought at FYI) I finally went to an independent optometrist who was great; got a proper prescription and bought new lenses at my regular glass shop. The prescription from FYI was 2 steps too strong and I'd never been able to focus at a distance properly. The new lenses are fantastic. read more

this place is horrible. they have tons of staff that will never greet you. they are far more expensive than anywhere else. they come up with ridiculous service fees and charges for non existent or unnecessary services. they won't even sell you a pair of contacts without a $50 "fitting fee." something i have not needed in 30 years of contact lens purchases. they think we are trapped on the coast and that they can price gauge us because there are few other options here. clearlycontacts.ca is great and if you ever get across to the mainland than richmond eye care offers exceptional customer service and they are happy to mail you any of their products. and guess what? no $50 "fitting fee!" no extra fees at all! you just get what you want and walk away happy. yippee!! read more
