What a great clinic & optometrist! Dr.Kim checked over my eyes, and the whole process was quick, courteous, and very proficient. His style of keeping you fully informed about your eyes and what he's doing through the whole visit is very reassuring. The clinic has some very high-tech equipment, and the office also sells prescription eyewear. But there is absolutely no pressure or up sell for that - if all you need are readers, he suggests you go get them st Costco. How good is that? Very happy to give Dr.Kim and his office 5 stars. Shoutout to Dr. Kim and his staff for taking care of mine and my family's eyes for the last 6 years. I come to see Dr. Kim once a year for my annual glasses/contacts check-up. My appointments with him have never lasted more than 20 minutes, and he has always been so helpful and knowledgeable when discussing any questions I may have about my eyes. His check-ups are quick, thorough and efficient, which is great because no one really likes sitting in a dark room listing out numbers and letters for a long time. His staff is wonderful. His receptionists give you a call to remind you of your appointment usually a day or two before and are always so welcoming when you step into the office. His office also has a wide selection of glasses frames, sunglasses frames, and contacts - so you have plenty of options to choose from. Would 10/10 recommend seeing Dr. Kim. Dr Kim was extremely aggressive and rush the appointment and would not answer any questions. If you don't buy glasses from him since he was keen on mentioning this. I give him that the xray of the eye is neat but not when your treated like this! read more

He makes sure that my eyes are recovering well after getting laser eye surgery with Dr. Lin from Pacific Laser Eye Center. I finally found a great optometrist with a practice that doesn't try to upsell you on buying glasses from them. They do have a pretty large selection of glasses and sunglasses if you decide you want something, however, but there is no pressure. I did end up buying a pair from them as I found a pair I liked. Dr Kim is very patient and im one of those people that seem to take longer during eye exams because I can't tell if lens A or B is clearer during the eye test. He patiently flipped back and forth between the lenses until I found the perfect setting. Other optometrists I have had in the past tended to rush me through the exam which resulted in a less than ideal prescription. read more

Prior to moving back to BC Dr. Kim was a clinical instructor at the State University of New York teaching the next generation of Optometrists. He excels in specialty contact lens fitting, but has seen almost every eye disease and condition working in a busy Ophthalmology clinic in New York and New Jersey. Dr. John Kim is very knowledgeable and is great with kids. The service people up front, especially Mai, were fantastic. Highly recommended, especially if you're in a wheelchair (See my review of pearl vision at Ironwood) and don't appreciate being treated like a second-class citizen. Just returned from Vancouver and was quite lucky that I stumbled upon Dr. Kim's office otherwise I would've been seeing out of one eye during my entire trip. I apparently had a ripped contact stuck in my eye (which resulted in an infection), which Dr. Kim gently and skillfully removed. Since I needed to take a break from contacts, I picked out a pair of glasses and got a super lens coating! The anti-glare coating was something I've never had before and Dr. Kim was right-- there is nothing like it (Crizal)! If I was a Vancouver resident, I would definitely come back to see Dr. Kim as you will rarely meet an optometrist so honest, caring, and knowledgeable! read more

I was looking to get an eye exam since my last one was about 7 years ago and a friend mentioned something about ironwood optometry so I gave it a try. Dr. Kim was extremely professional, helpful and genuine. I didn't feel like I was being sold on something I didnt need. He was honest about my eyesight and he made the experience seamless. I ended up having near perfect vision still and it was so great I bought sunglasses just for kicks. Kudos to Dr. Kim and his staff, who were friendly and efficient as well!
