The implementation was beyond their capability in house and took over a 1.5yrs to be fully functional. Its a basic tool, the financial side was good but the set up was poor because they had did not hire an expert to help them. When we had a good community manager for 1.5yrs, things were fine because she had good follow up. When she left, we had no community mgr for 4 months in 2025. Simultaneously, a change in the AP mgr resulted in our bills not getting paid timely, 45 days is unacceptable. Errors in posting to wrong accounts not in our general ledger was especially frustrating and required extensive oversight every month to get them corrected. In 2025 we did not have one community inspection, contrary to our contract which called for a monthly inspection. The turnover of people was brutal in the 2025 and brought many frustrations, none of which were addressed by Hillcrest's leader. We left Hillcrest. Buyer beware.

Most recently, I had a washing machine fail and flood my laundry room and finished basement. I called Yellow Key at 6:30am on a Saturday morning and they arrived at my property with a mediation company within 90 minutes. Work started the same day. They do a great job maintaining their properties and use high quality companies for repairs.

I pay lots the same way: gas, electric, township water/sewer/trash pick-up for example. None charge extra for that. Next they'll be charging extra for gas when they have to run an errand or a charge for every phone call (a phone maintenance charge). This is a worthless outfit and deserves to be just a bad memory.

In my window sills there is literal growing mold because of the water that comes in, yet they're not interested in fixing it. Now I'll be contacting the code department to serve that the windows are not up to code and demand they get replaced. & did I mention they know I'm 3 days out from giving birth.. and the first time I contacted them about the windows was June 24, it's now Sept 11th- what a head ache. I believe they stage houses to look nice before you rent, then you move in and realize all of the problems you're about to endure. Also here is texts from there maintenance guys that even agreed the windows need replaced and are irreparable.
