My mother-in-law found this place and dropped off the sewing machine for my 10 yr old daughter. My younger three were w my M-I-L that time and when they heard where we were going they recalled "Oh, we love that place! the lady was so fun and nice .... They complimented our names". So right, away I know the business owners are as gracious w any children in tow, as they are w the adult customers they serve. That matters to me. Today I picked up my daughter's freshly repaired sewing machine, from this wonderful Mom & Pop shop. It was like stepping into a bygone, gentler time. And my children were correct, Deanna & Greg, the married couple that runs this sewing machine & small appliance repair and supplies shop, are a complete delight to interact with. We had some small chat, pleasing laughs, I learned a little more about their business, and both of them were eager to pay my older boy (along w me this time) the courtesy of inclusion in the conversation. Though admittedly the items for sale are mainly handcrafted, artisanal, and/or one-of-a-kind/hand made pieces, they definitely fall under what I'd call ladies' fashion or accessories sales - artistic though they may be! Don't pass up this store by thinking it's another one of Fredericksburg's several Art Galleries with expensive art for sale. If you are a woman - or a man who likes giving women nice gifts - you are bound to find in Backdoor Gallery things that appeal to your refined sense of style and taste AND have a unique, reasonably priced, handcrafted flair. Mo kindly came to my house, looked at my 8 yr old PC (which I still thought of as 'pretty new'), and gave me the bad news that it needed replacing to be able to get Windows 11. I was afraid of that, so I just bit the bullet and bought my new Dell PC from him. He transferred all my stuff from the old PC to the new PC, wiped my old PC clean, and took it away, to be donated at Xmas time to the needy. Mo said there are more needy families in the area than I could imagine. He asked me if I had backed up all my files. Ummm, nope; just the words 'The Cloud' scare me, and, although I was very careful bitd about backing up my work files, MY stuff didn't seem that important, until Mo reminded me that I said I probably had other documents that should be backed up if my PC got hit by a bomb. He went back to his store and backed my old PC files onto a thumb/flash drive, (or whatever it is called these days) and I picked it up from him today. I am struggling a bit trying to learn the new PC with Windows 11, but Mo said I could call him anytime I needed help. He wasn't at all snarky and superior-acting about my lack of knowledge, but was very kind and patient. I am thrilled to have found someone trustworthy to help me. I have friends who have been hacked and lost almost everything, so I am always very nervous about security. The whole set is incredibly rich-looking and really lovely with the new soft green walls and walnut furniture. Definitely check out their various trim options. I spent a lot on trim, especially on the curtains, but what I ended up with was absolutely stunning. When we hung the curtains and put on the duvet cover, my husband and I just kind of walked around stunned for a while, saying "Is this really our bedroom or are we in some fancy bed-and-breakfast?" I found these guys online and gave them a call. Kelly was great in helping me decide what I wanted and sent free swatches for me to look at. When I decided on a fabric, she walked me through how to measure (not an easy thing to do) and placing the order. Two weeks later, my new drapes arrived and I couldn't be happier with them! The best part was that they were about half the cost of getting them locally and now I have custom drapes that fit my windows and decor perfectly. The only drawback is that, with shipping, the drapes do arrive wrinkled but nothing that a little steam didn't fix. Everyone I spoke to was knowledgeable, responsive and helpful. Highly recommended
