Yesterday, I called to order flowers to be sent to a gentleman who is turning 100 years old. I didn't realize I was speaking to the owner, Val at the time. I had read the reviews, although they were several years, old, and people claimed that the owner was rude on the phone. I don't know who they're talking about, because Val could not have been any more pleasant and enjoyable to chat with! We had a lovely conversation and I ordered a bouquet to be sent today. Not only was the bouquet gorgeous and exactly what I wanted, but it arrived early in the day for the entire family to enjoy. I could not be more pleased! I placed an order for a funeral arrangement on Monday for delivery on Tuesday. The lady who took my order was very pleasant and helpful. She guided me through the process. After I chose the arrangement, I had a request that was a little out of the ordinary. I asked if they would be able to include a couple of hummingbird picks if they were available. She said that she would try to find some. My friend was a big fan of hummingbirds. The arrangement was delivered on time, beautifully done and in it were some nicely placed hummingbirds and my personal note. The arrangement received many compliments. Val exceeded all of my expectations today! It was my moms 50th birthday so I wanted to create an assortment of 50 different flowers for her. I asked if I'd be able to choose my own flowers and build a bouquet and she said yes! I brought in my own vase and Val gave me freedom to choose from the flowers in her shop. She also gave me her professional opinion and helped me along the way. When I had them all picked out she offered to arrange them for me, and that's when the magic happened! We just dropped by because we saw a sale sign. We were immediately greeted. I appreciated the time and space were were given to browse without anyone hovering over us. Disappointed by the arrangement. I picked a beautiful one they advertised online and was delivered very promptly, I appreciate that, and I realize there is a disclaimer about substitution but what I received was nothing like what I ordered. It was suppose to be pink and white and when the Lilly's opened in a couple of days they were yellow. Not only did it not look like what I ordered it didn't even look like a pretty arrangement. Shopping in this establishment was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in downtown Fredericksburg! I had previously gone into the store a few days earlier and had not a bad thing to say. I purchased two beautiful flowerpots as gifts for Mother's Day and when I arrived home my daughter-in-law wanted to purchase one for her own mother. Today we go back to the store and there is one more pot left so we pick it up and fill it with other goodies from the store. We get to the cashier counter and the sweet lady there was about to ring us up when the owner tells her she cannot sell us the pot because she just hung up with a customer that placed a flower order and wanted that pot for the arrangement. I told her that was unacceptable because it was on the floor for sale and we had been walking around the store with it in our hands the entire time we were there. I also tell her that that flower pot was the only reason we came to town and that a person shopping IN the store walking around with the item should take precedence over a telephone customer. I told her if she didn't sell us the pot that we came to get then I would not be leaving a good review for her store. She refused to sell me the item and loudly asked that I leave her store immediately. In addition she takes her hand and puts it on my shoulder and practically pushes me out of the store!!!! Earlier this week, I ordered flowers from my local florist and she had Flowers By Val fill the order since it was in Fredericksburg, VA. I requested a zen succulent plant arrangement with a festive ribbon wrapped around a rectangular box, and three pieces of bamboo, per the photo of the arrangement that I selected. What was delivered to my sister, as a birthday gift, was a rusty, beat-up-looking bucket with black bark on the container, broken, dreary, plant limbs, and two green sticks jutting out. It was AWFUL and looked like something discarded and found on the side of the road. It looked nothing like what I had selected from the online options. I was SO embarrassed! To say that the arrangement was ugly is an understatement. It looked like I had pranked my sister with ugly flowers. Whoever thought it was okay to send that pathetic arrangement should be fired for lack of judgment as well as lack of skill. At my request, a new floral arrangement was sent which was beautiful. However, no one apologized for the ugly arrangement/shoddy workmanship, nor the inconvenience of having to arrange another delivery to my sister's office. Receiving deliveries there requires some effort and she was asked to return the ugly arrangement before getting a new one. I'm sure that will be going out to some other unsuspecting soul. Needless to say, we will not be using this florist ever again. I think florists sometimes think you won't find out the condition of the arrangements that they send, but I always ask the recipient if they are happy with what was sent and ask them to send me a photo. read more
