random location for ramen. plenty of seating and close to the hustle and bustle of Steveston. we came during off season so we were seated very quickly. it was slightly rainy so you know it was perfect weather for a hot bowl of noodles. they have fun cheese options but i wasn't feeling cheesy that day. i got the tonkotsu shoyu - unctuous broth and delicious noodles. never had mixed greens in my ramen before but it was fine. would come back and try their other offerings.

We were staying in a nearby hotel and walked to G-men Ramen for dinner. The restaurant is small, but we were seated right away, and experienced prompt, friendly service. I ordered the Shoyu ramen and enjoyed it! The broth tasted great, and the noodles were my favorite part of the dish.

Awesome Ramen very authentic. The broth was wonderful. The portion was generous. I loved it and will hope to go back again in the near future.

Gmen @ NanChuu Ramen 8391 Alexandra Rd #1160, Richmond, BC V6X 3W5 Gmega Ramen (RCMP Special) This signature bowl is a true standout--bold, complex, and deeply satisfying. The broth boasts a rich umami base with a well-balanced spiciness that lingers pleasantly without overwhelming the palate. The Pork is tender and flavorful, complementing the hearty noodles perfectly. Every element of this dish reflects thoughtful preparation and culinary finesse. Rating: 10/10 TanTan Ramen A beautifully executed rendition of a classic. The sesame-based broth is creamy and aromatic, with just the right amount of heat. The noodles are perfectly springy, and the toppings are generous and well-integrated. A must-try for those who enjoy depth and warmth in their ramen. Rating: 10/10 Ebi Mayo A reliable and familiar appetizer. The shrimp are lightly battered and fried to a golden crisp, with a creamy mayo drizzle that offers a touch of sweetness. While enjoyable, it doesn't venture far from what's commonly found in other Japanese izakayas. Rating: 7/10 Takowasabi This dish offers a crisp texture and a mild wasabi kick, though the overall flavor profile is relatively subdued. It's a decent accompaniment for those seeking something light, but it lacks the memorability or depth of the other offerings. Rating: 7/10 Chashu Don A satisfying and well-composed rice bowl. The chashu is tender and richly marinated, delivering excellent depth of flavor. Paired with warm rice and subtle seasoning, it's a hearty and comforting dish that holds its own outside the ramen spotlight. Rating: 9/10 Service The service is warm and attentive. Staff are genuinely hospitable and demonstrate an efficient understanding of the menu and flow of a busy ramen house. Despite the high volume of patrons, they remain composed and accommodating. Rating: 9/10 Ambiance Gmen @ NanChuu captures the charm of a traditional Japanese ramen-ya. The space is compact and often bustling, but that only adds to its authenticity. It evokes the feeling of ducking into a cozy Tokyo alleyway for a quick, flavorful bowl. Rating: 8/10 Price Portions are generous--particularly the supersized ramen bowls--and the pricing is more than fair given the quality and execution. It's a place where value meets craftsmanship. Final Verdict Gmen @ NanChuu Ramen remains one of Richmond's premier destinations for authentic Japanese ramen. Each bowl is crafted with precision and passion, delivering both bold flavors and comforting warmth. While the appetizers are a bit more conventional, the ramen itself is nothing short of exceptional. Expect a crowd during peak hours, but rest assured--it's worth the wait. Highly recommended for anyone in pursuit of a truly authentic ramen experience.

This place was so delicious! Was wanting a hot bowl of ramen and that's what you get here! The service and ambiance is perfect and very similar feel to how really Japan is! The tonkatsu shio and miso were sooo tasty! 100% would come here again!

After so many years, these days, there is no longer a crazy wait for lunch service. Even though the foot traffic may have died down a bit, this is still one of my favorite places in Richmond. The quality remains the same and the service is always friendly.

G-men Ramen was near our Richmond, Vancouver hotel. It was pouring rain so was able to just cross the street and try G-men Ramen to warm us up. There was 11 of us and we had a good ramen dinner. I only took picture of my order and my hubbies order. The broth was good and they gave good portion of meat. The egg was cooked just right. Was surprised to get the wood mushroom in our dish. Service was excellent. The inside is very small but they were able to give us two tables. All of us enjoyed the meal and sorry would not take the rest home because most of us did not finish everything. If this was home, we would have definitely been able to take home and have another meal. Great experience and good food.

It was snowing with rain in the morning. I was hungry as I didn't have breakfast. I looked for a nearby place for lunch with my family in Richmond and found this restaurant. I've been to their joint in Steveston before and this time I visited this location in Alexandria Road. We ordered three miso ramen and a dish of gyoza. I emphasised total three bowls of ramen and the server still got it wrong... only two bowls were served. The ramen, as described on the notice, has a rich taste. The broth tasted quite rich with big portion. It wasn't impressive but nothing to complain about. Fried gyozas were fine. This place is not very spacious like their one in Steveston. Generally the environment is clean and tidy. There are parking lots nearby and it is very convenient if you go there by driving.

Tiny ramen place which I didn't think I'd even give a second look turned out to be good! Came here for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon and was seated right away. Staff was helpful and explained the "very confusing" menu even before we started to analyze it. Ordered the Chicken Karaage - by now, one would know it's my favourite appetizer, also my gauge of a good Japanese restaurant or not. Verdict: it's good but could be better. Addictive RCMP Ramen was super spicy from the first bite to the last, very good though if you can handle spicy Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen might be the very basic ramen. No wonder it's labeled "First Time? Try this". Broth is very rich. AeSoba Soupless Ramen: it's a staff favourite so decided to give it a try. It has very little sauce or broth. As it is rich and thick, it coats the noodles well and give it its flavor. I think this might be the star of this meal!

The ambiance of this place is super cool - old anime posters and wooden tables/stools. It made us feel like we were back in Japan! We came her on a Friday night at around 7pm and it wasn't busy, we were seated right away. The staff was super helpful with suggestions and recommendations. Chicken kaarage - I loved the texture and how juicy the chicken was. I wish the mayo was spicy mayo for the side though! The plain mayo was a little bland. The spicy ramen was not super spicy and had just a light kick. I really enjoyed how flavorful and thick the noodles and broth were. For this version, the meat came minced. Tonkotsu miso ramen - the broth was very rich and creamy and I really enjoyed it. It was almost too rich though, I ended up not being able to finish the broth at the end. I am excited to come back and try some of their other ramens!

I think this is supposed to be Orion beer.

I came here recently after passing by the restaurant several times. The restaurant had interesting music, slightly different seating setup that reminded me of Japan, and decent service. In terms of food, I tried the Shio Tonkotsu Ramen. The soup base was more flavourful and hearty than some other places, but it felt slightly too rich near the end. The noodles were slightly thicker than I am used to but it went well with the soup base as it soaked up more of the flavour. The chashu was meaty and skinnier cuts which also complemented the stronger soup base. The black fungus was fresh and crunchy and the condiments were good as well.

This casual Ramen place has the potential to go from good to great if they follow a classic servicing procedure and be more gutsy with their menu items. I wouldn't compare this place to any other classic ramen eateries in Vancouver because they have definitely their own touch of flavour and their atmosphere. I just found the soup to be a little bland. But, the texture and portion was perfect for my pallet. I would appreciated a little bit more meat and noodle in my bowl. But, the soup portion is super generous and I actually loved it! Hope I can rate this place 5 stars next time I visit this cool little place. P.S. I paid for my bowl of Ramen before taking a seat. I found it peculiar for a classic Ramen dine in.

Maruhachi features chicken broth based ramen which is lighter in flavor and with thinner noodles. The portions were good for the price (though it only comes with noodles and a few pieces of chasu) and the waiter spoke with a Japanese accent which I appreciated for the authenticity. It's very cozy inside and a line quickly queued during lunchtime. Majority of the toppings are extra (i.e. egg, bamboo, wood ear mushrooms, etc) so if you want toppings it can quickly add up. Overall the place was good and light but I personally prefer the flavor profiles of the tonkatsu broth more.

So I walked directly across the street and tried Maruhachi Ra-men and I'm glad I did. The main thing was finding something my kid could eat and they had potstickers/ gyoza. We walked in and there was no wait time. The waiter sat us down quickly. He explained to me that they were low on eggs. His English was a little broken but I could understand what he was saying. I got an order of fried gyoza for the kid and I ordered the cha su ramen (mild). Man it was good. The ramen noodles were soft and had a good texture. The pork slices had a good flavor to them and were tender. The soup base was tasty. Let just say I finished the whole thing. The guy sitting next to us liked his ramen so much that he ordered and bowl. The service was great. Oh, the said they don't take cash. No worries because I was paying with credit card anyway and didn't exchange my US dollars to Canadian dollars. It was a shirt walk from the Versante Hotel. I highly recommend this place if you're ever in the area. Yummy!

Afuri Ramen had a anniversary promo sale on their yuzu shio ramen as advertised on Instagram page, so my friends and I got 3 of those. They were only $12 discounted from $17.50 regularly. Afuri's shio ramen comes with shio tare, chicken broth, chiyu, menma, greens, sous vide chicken chashu, egg, nori, yuzu, and thin noodles. In terms of taste, the ramen was not bad. The chicken was cooked well. It's a very light, citrusy, and refreshing ramen, rather than the bold, salty, oily, super flavorful ones i usually eat at other ramen places. Afuri's take on ramen is different for sure. On the downside, I thought the strong citrus flavors of yuzu and the other veggies overpowered everything in the ramen which im not a big fan of. Too tangy for me. The portion size of the ramen are slightly on the smaller side too. Service was OK. Wait time for the ramen was pretty long at about 20ish minutes. On the bright side, the servers were friendly and checked on our table regularly to refill waters and stuff. They were really quick in giving the bill when we requested it. All the staff said goodbye to us when we left which was nice. The dining area was spacious and modern. Clean as well. Most of the tables were long, shared communal tables with a selection condiments, chopsticks, and napkins. I kind of liked the chili paste they provided. It's not very spicy though. Gonna have to give Afuri Ramen 3 out of 5 stars mainly because the ramen was just ok in my opinion. I discovered that I don't like yuzu and its citrusy flavors in my ramen as much as i thought. If you don't mind that at all, Afuri Ramen is worth a try. Their yuzu shio ramen is still discounted to $12 until the end of this August in Richmond and Vancouver on weekdays. It's a great promo.

Ambiance and Decor: The restaurant boasts a very clean…read moreenvironment with two large open tables and a large banquet on the far wall and impressively high ceilings. The ambiance is modern Asian, with concrete floors contributing to an industrial feel. Service Quality: During my visit on a Sunday, there were only two servers managing the entire restaurant. Despite this, I was seated right away for a late lunch service as I was dining alone. Although the restaurant was fully occupied, I was able to place my order promptly. However, it took a bit longer to receive my bill and make the payment. Menu Variety: Afuri Ramen and Dumpling offers an extensive menu with numerous ramen options and a variety of other appetizers. Additionally, they have an appealing drink menu. Food Presentation: I opted for the lunch combo, which included gyoza and tsukemen. Both dishes were neatly plated with evident care. The utensils--forks, chopsticks, and a spoon--were provided in a small plastic container on the side. Although I ordered pan-fried gyoza, I was served the deep-fried version instead. Despite this mix-up, I still enjoyed the dish without raising a complaint. Food Taste and Quality: The taste of the food was excellent, with a good balance of salt and spice. The freshness and heat of the dishes were commendable. The ramen noodles were cooked to perfection, and the tsukemen had a generous amount of meat. Portion Sizes: The lunch combo provided a satisfactory amount of food. However, considering the price, it would have been nice to have one or two more pieces of gyoza and a bit more ramen noodles. Drink Selection: The restaurant offers a good selection of cocktails. Since I visited for lunch, I only tried their homemade ginger ale, which was incredibly delicious and refreshing. I wish I had the recipe for it! Price and Value: I received a 20% discount on the lunch combo due to the day and time of my visit. This is something to look out for if you plan to dine here. Despite the discount, I felt that the portion sizes could have been more generous. Overall, I paid just under $30 for the drink, gyoza, and tsukemen. Overall Experience and Recommendation: Afuri Ramen and Dumplings may not be my top choice for ramen in Richmond, given the abundance of other options in the area. However, if you find yourself within a few blocks of this restaurant, it's worth a visit. I recommend trying their gyoza and homemade ginger ale, and you can't go wrong with any of their ramen choices.
