We were feeling adventurous and wanted to try a new ramen place. When we googled, this place popped up, so we decided to give it a try, it's tucked in a corner of the Aberdeen Centre on the second level. We couldn't find it at first, but was able to located after walking around 5 minutes. We ordered their signature ramen x 2, Paitan Shoyu, and takoyaki, and the Japanese Croquettes. The side dishes were okay, but when we got the ramen, there were some hot sauce paste placed in the broth, which we didn't know what it was. We've never had ramen with spicy hot sauce placed on top before, at least not without asking. Luckily, I'm used to having spicy food, but It was so hot that my daughter couldn't eat it. I wish we could be informed, or at least have it written it on the menu, to give people a fair warning. Most of the Japanese ramen place don't put any spicy sauce in the broth, and I find it odd for them to do it. To be honest I was a little disappointed with the meal. The spicy sauce kind of ruined the taste of the pork broth, I couldn't taste anything after it. I'm not sure if I will go back again, unless I'm in the mall again for something else. If you are a big fan of spicy pork ramen, this would be place to visit. If not, please make sure to check with them before you order.

Stopped by for a quick lunch! Loved the chicken karaage pieces and my ramen. Also, love their takeout box that lets you separate the noodles from the soup. It is located inside Aberdeen Centre!

Seeing how it this place sometimes get, I have been wanting to try this place out for a while every time I visit Aberdeen Centre. I can see why now. It's a friendly little ramen spot that serves up some tasty ramen along with some rice dishes and sides. I tried their signature Paitan Shoyu ramen along with their gyoza dumplings. The broth of the ramen was spot on with just the right amount of unami that I ended up drinking up all of the broth to the last drop. That's not typical of me to do that! The gyoza scores well for presentation--a bit different than other places. Other than that, the texture and taste are average meaning it was good but not exceptional. Overall, it's a place worth checking out. I'll be back to try out their other ramen dishes.

A real Japanese Ramen shop you can find in Richmond! Ramen tastes are just like in Japan~ It is on the 2nd floor in the end corner of Aberdeen center. Ambiance of the place is decent, and the service is very much like in Japan, expect you don't have to buy the ramen tickets yourself, haha. This month, they have $10 ramen promotion!

Went here during their anniversary day, all ramen was 50% off! Went here with a friend of of mine. We only waited for about 5 min or so to get seated, lucky for us! During their anniversary, they have very limited menu, customer had the choice between shio, shoyu, miso - chitan or paitan, and could only order once. I picked paitan miso ramen, just like I always do. Order came after about 10 minutes, broth was good, chasu is a bit too lean and thin, and my noodles is a bit too firm compared to the usual. Not gonna lie, I was a bit disappointed with my experience this time. It cost only about $8 tho, so can't really complain much.

Tried out this ramen place conveniently located on the 2nd floor of Aberdeen Centre. It's a 3.5-star for their ramen and a 3-star for the ponzu chicken karaage. There is room for improvement. - Original Shio ramen: The soup base and the texture of the noodle were good. Quite standard. There were a few bamboo shoot, 2 thin slices of chashu pork and half of the marinated soft boiled egg. One thing amazed me was the noodles stayed hot for longer than usual. It might be the design of the bowl from its material or its shape. Kinda brilliant! - Ponzu chicken karaage: The flavour was OK. These deep fried chicken nuggets were a bit dry until they soaked up the ponzu sauce on the bottom of the plate. The portion was on the smaller side, which is great for trying out more varieties. The pricing reflects it. This restaurant not only allows you to check out their menu by scanning the QR code on the table but also allows you to place the order on your phone. There was very minimal interaction with the server. The restaurant is quite cozy, where they do have some clear dividers between tables. They follow the standard COVID protocol where they scan your BC vaccine card at entrance, have hand sanitizer at entrance and have all servers wear a mask.

This was my first time at this location since they closed my beloved spot on Bidwell in the West End. Caveat: I am giving it 4 stars because it's based on a takeout order, where the product sat in our car for approximately 40 minutes while we drove home in rush hour, so expecting it to be stellar is unfair. So based on these constraints, I'm giving it 4, although if I'm being honest, the actual score would be 3 for the ramen, but 5 for service and the amazeballs fried chicken... Firstly, the place is really hard to find. I asked 3 different people, including the rather unhelpful "help desk" people who sent me off in a vaguely correct direction (waving me "upstairs"), but in the end, I had to call the shop. The server was super friendly and came out into the mall waving madly to help me locate her, so service was 5 stars! We ordered the veggie volcano, double veggies, and added nori, kikurage & chasu pork. We both ordered the Paitan broth, my hubby the miso, myself the shio. We also ordered the 8 piece fried chicken and gyoza. Unfortunately, I only took a photo of my shio veggie volcano bowl and the gyoza because OMG THE CHICKEN WAS SO FRIGGEN DELICIOUS we hoovered it down as soon as we got into the car for our drive home. Honestly, some of the best karaage we've had in a while! Once we got home, I was super impressed with the packaging of the ramen. Unfortunately, because the ramen had been boiled already, it was pretty soft and stodgy by then. Next time I'm going to ask if they can just give me the noodles raw, so I can boil it myself at home. The kikurage was a waste of money, you get barely two bites (I realize it's probably a difficult ingredient to get right now due to the lack of imports from Japan and the recent major food safety recall). I found the Paitan broth a bit thinner, saltier and less flavourful than at the Bidwell location, but otherwise, I thought it was pretty good considering that by the time I got it on the table it was almost an hour since we had left the shop. The gyoza I haven't had yet, going to have it for my lunch today!

Went to Aberdeen randomly and try this ramen shop! They provide happy hour everyday during 3pm-5pm. I was there around 4pm, why not give a try?! There are so much people inside even is not lunch hours! What a surprise! I ordered Paitan Dragon Shoyu, which is white soup with pork! It's sooo rich and tasty! (Main point: not thirsty after eating the whle bowl of ramen) The noodles is chewy and not that soft, love it! Two slice of pork are perfect for eat, soft and delicious with perfect fat!

I was pleasantly surprised by the ramen here. The space is bright and there's a pretty good amount of seating. There's a few tables for four on the side, a big communal table and some seats along the window. it was quite busy when we arrived around 6:30. We we're seated right away at the communal table. I had the paitan's dragon dewdrop shoyu, with no lard. My friend also ordered some fried chicken to share. We didn't have to wait long at all for the food to arrive. The fried chicken was actually pretty good. However, I did notice it left a lot of oil on the paper it was on and the outside wasn't as crisp as I'd like it. But the chicken was very tender and flavourful. The ramen was presented nicely. It had two large pieces of meat that were also tender. The noodles had a nice chew to it and was a good thickness. I was afraid of the broth being too heavy, however it wasn't at all. It had a great taste that wasn't too salty. The egg was also better than I expected. When it arrived, I definitely thought the egg was overcooked and the yolk has going to be really mealy. However, the yolk was very smooth and it was tasty. Overall, the ramen is pretty good. If I was at Aberdeen, I wouldn't mind coming back. The servers here were also very friendly and attentive.

Took advantage of the Happy Hour between 3 - 5 pm for 20% off. The service was decent and timing was efficient. For me the ramen was good and is a solid 3 star. It was not bad but not astoundingly good. The ramen size was average. The broth is quite flavourful and rich flavourful The noodles were medium not to thick and not to thin The ramen wasn't too salty. If you are in Aberdeen and you want a ramen, I would recommend you check out this place out!

I've heard good things about their downtown location but never had a chance to go. Finally tried their Aberdeen location which is located on the second floor. I tried the Paitan Dragon Shoyu and also the spicy chicken kaarage. The ramen was okay. I'm not a ramen expert and don't eat it that often either. Didn't blow me away but nothing really wrong with it? Or I had higher expectations after hearing good things before. The chicken kaarage was very moist and juicy though!

First time here at the Aberdeen location. It's on the 2nd floor, by where all the restaurants are located. The restaurant is clean, well-lit and spacious. There's a big communal table in the middle, which is how they do it in Japan. "Takanotsume" = "eagle's claw". Their ramen style is from Asahikawa, which is a city in Hokkaido, Japan. Hubby and I came during happy hour, which is Monday-Friday, 3-5 pm. It's 30% off everything, including ramen and alcohol. We ordered a variety of items. The ramen broth was quite good and not too salty. We got the paitan dragon shoyu, which was tonkotsu & shoyu based ramen. We also upgraded to thick noodles for $1 extra. One thing I never liked about Taka (visited their downtown location a couple of times) is their chashu. Their version is too lean and dry. I want my chashu where it is kind of fatty that it melts in my mouth! Also, I wanted to compliment how piping hot their soup is! After maybe 10 minutes of eating, the soup was still hot! This was a huge bonus for me. The kakuni was the fatty pork that i wished their chashu was like. It was quite flavorful. On the other hand, I found their takoyaki and the fried chicken rather meh. The price was extremely good after the happy hour discount. We were able to try quite a few things.

You know, for a mall ramen shop, I would not have guessed the quality of the ramen to be as amazing as it was!! The flavors were all there!! I loved how very casual it was and reminded me of ramen shops back in Tokyo. I got the Meat Lovers ramen with Tonkatsu, chicken karaage, and braised meat with shoyu egg in a miso paitan broth. I will definitely come back here again!

Afuri Ramen had a anniversary promo sale on their yuzu shio ramen as advertised on Instagram page, so my friends and I got 3 of those. They were only $12 discounted from $17.50 regularly. Afuri's shio ramen comes with shio tare, chicken broth, chiyu, menma, greens, sous vide chicken chashu, egg, nori, yuzu, and thin noodles. In terms of taste, the ramen was not bad. The chicken was cooked well. It's a very light, citrusy, and refreshing ramen, rather than the bold, salty, oily, super flavorful ones i usually eat at other ramen places. Afuri's take on ramen is different for sure. On the downside, I thought the strong citrus flavors of yuzu and the other veggies overpowered everything in the ramen which im not a big fan of. Too tangy for me. The portion size of the ramen are slightly on the smaller side too. Service was OK. Wait time for the ramen was pretty long at about 20ish minutes. On the bright side, the servers were friendly and checked on our table regularly to refill waters and stuff. They were really quick in giving the bill when we requested it. All the staff said goodbye to us when we left which was nice. The dining area was spacious and modern. Clean as well. Most of the tables were long, shared communal tables with a selection condiments, chopsticks, and napkins. I kind of liked the chili paste they provided. It's not very spicy though. Gonna have to give Afuri Ramen 3 out of 5 stars mainly because the ramen was just ok in my opinion. I discovered that I don't like yuzu and its citrusy flavors in my ramen as much as i thought. If you don't mind that at all, Afuri Ramen is worth a try. Their yuzu shio ramen is still discounted to $12 until the end of this August in Richmond and Vancouver on weekdays. It's a great promo.

The ambiance is modern Asian, with concrete floors contributing to an industrial feel. Service Quality: During my visit on a Sunday, there were only two servers managing the entire restaurant. Despite this, I was seated right away for a late lunch service as I was dining alone. Although the restaurant was fully occupied, I was able to place my order promptly. However, it took a bit longer to receive my bill and make the payment. Menu Variety: Afuri Ramen and Dumpling offers an extensive menu with numerous ramen options and a variety of other appetizers. Additionally, they have an appealing drink menu. Food Presentation: I opted for the lunch combo, which included gyoza and tsukemen. Both dishes were neatly plated with evident care. The utensils--forks, chopsticks, and a spoon--were provided in a small plastic container on the side. Although I ordered pan-fried gyoza, I was served the deep-fried version instead. Despite this mix-up, I still enjoyed the dish without raising a complaint. Food Taste and Quality: The taste of the food was excellent, with a good balance of salt and spice. The freshness and heat of the dishes were commendable. The ramen noodles were cooked to perfection, and the tsukemen had a generous amount of meat. Portion Sizes: The lunch combo provided a satisfactory amount of food. However, considering the price, it would have been nice to have one or two more pieces of gyoza and a bit more ramen noodles. Drink Selection: The restaurant offers a good selection of cocktails. Since I visited for lunch, I only tried their homemade ginger ale, which was incredibly delicious and refreshing. I wish I had the recipe for it! Price and Value: I received a 20% discount on the lunch combo due to the day and time of my visit. This is something to look out for if you plan to dine here. Despite the discount, I felt that the portion sizes could have been more generous. Overall, I paid just under $30 for the drink, gyoza, and tsukemen. Overall Experience and Recommendation: Afuri Ramen and Dumplings may not be my top choice for ramen in Richmond, given the abundance of other options in the area. However, if you find yourself within a few blocks of this restaurant, it's worth a visit. I recommend trying their gyoza and homemade ginger ale, and you can't go wrong with any of their ramen choices.
