I shop here regularly, and I am always greeted kindly right when I walk through the door. It is one of the smaller stores so the selection is not always as good as some of the larger stores like the one in Cuyahoga Falls, but they do a really good job with the inventory they have to work with. I'm able to find most of what I want quickly. I find that the store is much better organized than it was years ago. When I'm in a hurry I am able to come in, grab what I want, go through the check out and be out very fast. If you live in the Wallhaven area it's a great place to find a bargain.

They have almost everything I need for my home: pet food, cat litter, laundry supplies, cleaning supplies, (some) clothing (like socks, sweat pants), kitchen ware and a large selection of dry goods. From name brand cereal (Kashi) to name brand hair care (Pantene) they usually rival Walmart in pricing. They do offer specialty foods now, such as gluten-free packaged food by Bob's Red Mill. Get on their email list because every 3 purchases, they send you $5 off $15. Staff are wonderful, friendly and can point you to anything you are seeking, just ask.

I was very underwhelmed at Blue, Goodwill's "boutique" of supposedly nicer clothing brands. I…read moredidn't see anything that I haven't seen in regular Goodwill retail stores. The price tags were too high (some were even higher than you could have found them at retail for), the selection was awful, and several items were very worn, out of style, or even damaged. I felt like everything was XL, next common was the size Smalls, then Larges, ending with the elusive Mediums. Everything is organized by size, but the method is extremely confusing. The employee who was there was nice, but for half of my visit, I couldn't figure out if she was an employee or customer. After walking around trying to find size mediums, looking baffled I'm sure, I finally asked her if she worked there. I asked her where mediums were and she pointed in a vague direction. I eventually figured out that each rack was a different size, or at least I think? Other racks were sorted by color. Maybe eye catching but not practical. When I asked if they had any size 6 shoes, she acted like I was a unicorn with two heads and told me they never ever got a size 6 in. (I've never had trouble finding size 6 shoes, ever.) The store isn't super easy to get to, and make sure you bring some change for the parking meters. Avoid the morning and evening commutes because you can easily get stuck in Downtown Akron among all of its construction. I can recommend 5 local thrift stores that have better items, prices, and services than Blue. It's a good idea in theory, just very poorly executed. (Thinks it's because I'm a size medium with size 6 feet? )

The people working there are friendly and helpful, although it seems to be a bit understaffed. The Fairlawn Salvation Army thrift store used to be one of my favorites, then they eliminated some of the discount colors and then went to a system with most of the clothes being priced according to what they are, i.e. pants and shirts are $4.99 and there is one color that is half price (although on Wednesdays everything except one color are half price). On my most recent visit they have backtracked a bit so that most of the brick a brack and shoes are individually priced. There are still some good values, however the selection seems to be not as good and it can be confusing what certain things cost. The advantage of the current system is that if you find a high quality piece of clothing you do get it for a good price. The non-clothing selection has definitely decreased, the selection is limited and there are not a lot of interesting items. In the past I have found some really nice items, but now it seems like most of the stuff is nothing really special. Overall a pretty good thrift store, but not worth a trip just for thus store.
