Located inside the Northside Marketplace, Rubber City Clothing is a t-shirt shop to wear local pride. And Rubber City Clothing deserves kudos at something super important: inclusivity. I think their model is here so simple but genius. They offer hundreds of different shirts - colors, brands, lengths - and you pick your shirt. Next, you choose the design from their wall and they create you a custom shirt in a few minutes. There is nothing worse than walking into a shop like this only to discover that the women's sizes look like they should fit children and that the mens sizes look too short for your tall friend. By offering a diverse range of brands, lengths and sizes, you can find anything you need. So, I'm not from Akron. Aside from liking The Black Keys and Lebron James, I don't have any relationship to the city. While most of the designs are Akron-focused, they have one Ohio-focused one I selected. My t-shirt came out great. It is so comfy and I love the color (because I picked it). Such a wonderful store with wonderful people. I'll be back! read more

I made my way to This wonderful Gem of a Store in Akron on 10/24/19 and this place is located in the Nortside District at the northside marketplace down on furnace street off howard. I first found about rubber city clothing when they opened up shop over on high street next to crave. This store sells a lot of wonderful stuff they sell t-shirts totes glasses mugs hats and a lot more but as far as the t-shirts go I think you have to be from here to understand some of the sayings on the t-shirts. I also feel it benefited then moving over to North Side Market Place because the store is a lot bigger and it's a lot brighter. The reason why I made my way over to Rubber City Clothing is because I am looking for postcards because I started penpalling and I want to get into collecting postcards as a side Hobby so I figured I would check this place out and turns out they had a few postcards I could get which is awesome and they only cost a dollar fifty each and there's pictures of the postcards I bought down below. The store in general was very clean very bright Like I said before and the lady that checked me out she was very helpful helping me and right before I was leaving we had about a 10-minute conversation about postcards which was nice so all-in-all I would recommend a store especially if you're from this area or if you're from out of town and you want a wonderful souvenir to take back home. read more

Especially since we recaptured LeBron, the College Football National Championship, and saved SOME face (not all) in the NFL this past year!. P.S. Prices are "you get what you pay for". If you want a quality T-shirt that'll last, not shrink & warp, and feel like your favorite pair of jeans when you put it on, then this is the place for you. My old OSU "lucky T-shirt" from college looks like a belly shirt now. I needed to update months ago. Of course we did win the Championship, so maybe I'll wear "Old Faithful" as an undershirt with a new RCC shirt over top! read more

How has this store not been reviewed yet? Went in here on a whim, when my pal and I were walking in downtown Akron looking for somewhere to grab some beverages. We were there during the tail end of an artwalk and a rib burn-off, so there were quite a few people about. Fun times. Anyway, this store sells all sorts of Akron gear. I found 3-4 different things I wanted to get, but settled on a "Rubber City" t-shirt. Good colors available. I was surprised too, as I had ZERO intention of buying anything, but I liked the shirt so much, I was forced to pull the trigger. For decades places like Akron and Cleveland have had t-shirts that say really stupid things like "kiss me, i'm from ohio" or "amazing cleveland" or something even MORE worse than usless. Thankfully this store comes up with inventive ways to use classic phrases/company logos and symbols of Akron and integrate them into the clothing. Great place to bring out-of-towners that want something to take with them, or to buy something for your kid or parent or sister who is away at college or retirement and misses home. Five stars may sound like a bit much, but there is a real need for downtown retail places like this. People like seeing open stores when strolling around. It's why you can walk 10 miles and not even think about it when vacationing in New York City, but huff and puff at the thought of walking 2 miles to Edgewater Park. They've been in business for about 9 years. I am truly ashamed I've never been inside. At least there is a review now! read more

Love this place!!! I been shopping there for the last 3 years and it never gets old or boring!! The staff is absolutely amazing, always friendly, funny and just great over all. Not only do they have an amazing selection of t-shirts, but they also have a great selection of mugs, pint glasses, stickers, Akron based, influenced books, and many more things! It is very difficult to find anything worth buying here. Everything looked to be of poor quality. If you're at the Northside Market there are some cute Akron-themed t shirts at one of the other shops worth checking out. Might've been called Social Editions. If you do find something worth buying at RCC, good luck actually purchasing it. I waited at the checkout for about 5 minutes while the owner chatted with a friend, once I asked if I should just leave she told her son to "deal with this." He walked away for a few minutes, so I offered to just leave some cash. With so many better options for Akron-themed apparel don't waste your time here. read more

Stopped in on a whim today just to look around. Ended up getting some awesome custom screen prints added to my favorite jacket! They look fantastic. The store is fun and hold down the history of our city.the prices were great and the customer service was beyond amazing.
