Kids quesadilla with beef fajita meat
Erica B.

Caught the tail end of happy hour so ordered a Paloma and Margarita along with the choriqueso. Drinks were good, strong but not overwhelming. The choriqueso was delicious and portion was big enough to have as an actual meal. Portions overall were very generous which I know we all can appreciate these days for the price. My son really liked the flavor of the kids quesadilla with beef fajita meat and the tortillas were fresh. We ended up bringing home half of both our meals and the leftovers were just as good. They were setting up for a band when we were leaving- it was a Thursday night I believe. It looks like they get busy later in the evenings with the live music. We will come back again and try more of the items on the happy hour menu for sure.

Came here with my husband to commemorate my mother in law with the margarita flight. It was delicious and the restaurant is so decorative. She definitely would have loved this place! We didn't get any food but it all looked so good. We'll definitely be back to try the food soon.

At night we play club music and dance with your meal! Service was great, my fajitas were delicious, and this ladies night was feeling Gabriela's vibes.

Stopped in Gabriela's South Austin on Tuesday night about 7pm. The restaurant was not busy. Decor is very vibrant and color. Think pink flamingos and blue waves. Server seated us fairly quickly. We waited about five or so minutes and then our server came by with the menus and asked us about drinks. We were with the little person so we refrained but the specialty here appears to be their extensive drink menu. While waiting on the server to come back to take our order, I started reading yelp reviews and everything, everyone else said, is true. The food is bland no seasoning. Our queso dip came out cold. The food came out super quick after we ordered but it clearly had been prepped hours ago and tossed together. My al pastor pork was tough and rubbery with no sweet citrus flavors. My poblano taco was charred and limp and lacked any taste. The hubby had beef short ribs that were definitely not freshly cooked, 1/2 fresh and 1/2 reheated. Even seasoned differently across ribs. My son got chicken tenders and fries which the fries were barely cooked and tasted of old grease. Our server was not attentive after the food came so my husband didn't get a water refill until we were about to go and she just came and put the pitcher on our table and left. She seemed sweet and polite, just not attentive. Also they don't have a kids menu option (just chicken tenders or a quesadilla) and she never brought my son a drink either so I had to share my water. Overall not likely to return unless just meeting up with friends for a drink. I thought when I came here it would be like the location in the Domain (that closed) but they are very very different.

Service was good but the food was bland The beans had no seasoning, the rice was not flavorful, and the tacos were also lacking flavor. I think this place must be know for drinks and appetizers? I did like their corn/flour tortillas. They seemed homemade. 5 stars for the tortillas. Food is a 2 stars. Maybe I'll hit them up at a happy hour and try their drinks and appetizers.

Came to Gabriela's for the happy hour specials. We were seating very promptly but we did have to wait over 10 minutes for a server to acknowledge us. Had the chips and Queso Flameado with Melted Mexican cheese with poblano peppers, mushrooms, guacamole, drizzled with chipotle and green sauce. I love that the chips are sprinkled with tajin. Also had a HH house margarita with House tequila / Orange liquor / Lime / Agave. They have a good selection of drinks. I feel like the food has declined in quality over the past few years but still a fun place to visit for happy hour and drinks.

Aguachile Michelada with Pacifico beer.

I loved the food and the drinks were really tasty as well! We ordered the Queso Fundido, The Birria Ramen, and The Birria Grilled Cheese. We also ordered the Aguachile Micheladas. We were Very satisfied! Any time I visit one of Gabrielas establishments I received THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone! I love going to Gabrielas when someone comes into town to visit me. They always love it just as much as I do and end up telling me they want to come back to Austin not to visit me but to go to Gabrielas haha. The environment is always great! It's pet friendly too! We brought our dog and sat outside in the patio.

Bright and sunny, wide open with lots of natural light, tasteful hanging planters, and minimalist decor, there's nowhere to hide. It's a place to see and be seen, but not nearly as pretentious as that sounds. They just care about the details and it shows, including the attentive service and well balanced drinks. Though I feel like I should crawl back into the dark, dank dive bars that I know best, it's a gorgeous breath of fresh air for those good hair days. Generous parking lot, easy off the highway, good evening hours. The only thing I'll knock it for is being so far south! Anyone in the neighborhood has better treasure this place, since I won't be able to get out there that often.

This entire place feels like a cash grab following the mezcal trend. It's positioned as being a tequila/mezcal spot but their drinks are more basic than cocktails I can order at the airport. When I asked questions about the mezcal they use and offer the bartenders replies were always dealt with either annoyance and limited info or just an "I don't know." Plus it's $$$ you tip on top of the tip they already add but say nothing about? The basic cocktails that are known as Mexican street vendor drinks (not supposed to be $$$) can cost you over $20 alone! Then to be shady about tipping ... cash grab without a good experience. The there's the atmosphere... very limited parking shared with MANY other more busy bars, super loud inside because of no soft surfaces, and the worst part of all... the bench seats are built just tall enough that unless you're super tall, you'll have to sit at the edge of the bench and actively practice good posture. This more than the other things makes me want to leave immediately. You designed a bar to be pretty but in no way functional to its use. It's been a while since my last visit and honestly I chalked all this up to Austin's trend chasing entrepreneurs typical disconnected launch until I had AMAZING cocktails at another new spot that truly impressed with their same priced cocktails that were far far more intricate and creative PLUS they didn't try to con me out of more tip AND their space was warm, and inviting with truly exceptional customer service. That experience reminded me that inflation isn't the only thing making life more expensive ... it's also businesses delivering far less value than promised and demanding we are supremely grateful for their limited effort. If you don't want to leave the neighborhood but you still want a somewhat decent margarita .... it ain't here. Pay half the price at Bodhi's in the same parking lot.

Instead of basic customer service, I was met with attitude, irritation, and eventually being called "bro" and spoken to disrespectfully in front of other people. I work in service myself, so I'm usually very understanding, but this experience completely killed the vibe of the night. If you're going to charge upscale lounge prices, the staff should know how to treat customers professionally instead of acting annoyed that someone wants their order made correctly.

They have a tiny parking lot which is OK for smaller shows, but they will charge you $20 to park at bigger shows like Juvenile tonight or Psych Fest. The only other parking option is in the residential streets about 5 minutes walk down the road. But I feel extremely bad for the people in those homes who were there before this venue started doing big concerts. With that said...it used to be a cool little bar with a large covered tent stage and they decided that wasn't big enough. It's also sooooo far South. They charge a 20% "TIP" automatically on every bar purchase. So an IPA was nearly $17. Unless C3 or Live Nation has bought them this is just insane. While this is legal...if it's mandatory, it's not a "tip" under IRS rules -- it's a service charge. That means it belongs to the business, not automatically to the server. That's F'd up and they need to change the language on that.

I probably shouldn't be reviewing it so it can stay that way, but no one like a gatekeeper. Also, absolute baller pizza from Brooklyn Pie Co. I had to really talk myself down from going back the next night just for more pizza. The service is... well what you would expect from a "trendy" Austin dive bar, as in... There are some tables, and big comfy couches around a coffee table in the middle of the bar which is where we sat. I had one of their happy hour cocktails that was similar to a creamy espresso martini, and they are 50% off on happy hour days/times! My friend got one of their floral cocktails which wasn't discounted but I LOVED it personally. I also got a strawberry matcha drink (non alcoholic) that was a little too sweet in my opinion; I finished it but wouldn't get it again. I usually only go to coffee shops to work, but today, went on a coffee date with my dog instead. There's ground floor parking in the garage that's complimentary for two hours. I kept it simple with a vanilla latte. I noticed they had tacos at the bottom of the food menu, but at $13.25 for two tacos + an a la carte item, I decided to pass. Maybe my expectations were too high (as usual) because it's inside a hotel, but I was hoping for the kind of warm hospitality hotels are known for, but instead, the service felt a bit cold. It didn't exactly make me want to spend more money there. While sitting on the patio, I spotted the food truck outside and thought, "PERFECT. A food truck HAS to be cheaper. Take that Simona's!" I walked up to the window... only to find out it wasn't actually a separate food truck. It was just the pickup window. To order? I had to go back inside to Simona's and place my order with the delightful staff... I ended up ordering two Blue Migas tacos, and honestly, they were just... good, but nothing memorable. They tasted like your average breakfast tacos that you can find all over Austin for less. Despite loving how relaxing the outdoor patio is with its lucious greenery surrounding you and the beautiful French chairs and cafe tables, it's located right next to the hotel pool. If you're visiting on a summer afternoon, expect some extra noise with pool guests. If you're looking for a quiet coffee or a place to work, I'd recommend coming early in the morning instead.
