Great place for wings! I come here quite a bit with my guy friends, and usually for wing night on Mondays, which start at 8:30. You have to order right at 8:30 and by then, there's already a line and tables are pretty much all taken. And you can't take the wings to go... so you have to plan your wing night accordingly. read more

Neighborhood bar with darts and pool tables. Friendly staff. Lots of TVs along the wall. Good food! This is want you want your neighborhood bar to be! Spicy cheese curds are excellent! They came out hot, crispy and with a very good amount of heat. Would certainly order again. I ordered the Mushroom Swiss burger and thought it was good. It was huge and I could easily have shared one. We also ordered batter fried French fries which were great. Not heavily battered, just a little bit of extra crunch. This is a hole in the wall dive bar but it's a fine place indeed. Not very good signage from the street or even the parking lot, so you need to know it's there to find it. It's to the right of a Mexican restaurant and It's in the Spectrum shopping center. My friends and I met there for drinks and food. Good service and tasty food. We were there on a two for one burger night. They have specials every night of the week depending on what day it is. I had a chicken sandwich and my friends had burgers, fries and we all shared the mozzarella sticks. Everything was sooo tasty and the burgers tasted like they had been grilled. There's a couple of pool tables and a full bar. I still can't figure out the name of the place because they're not on William Cannon but on Staissney. We came here because they were listed as a place that has Austin FC watch parties. They has eight televisions but they are very, very small so we stopped watching at some point. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was okay. Drinks were good and very affordable. Place was clean. Plenty of parking. They have specials like free pool Thursdays and BOGO hamburger Tuesdays. read more

This place is unassuming. You walk through the outdoor patio to get inside to the bar to order. It's a basic bar, so we ordered vodka and tonics. The pours were generous, and the prices are very affordable. They do serve food, but we ate dinner right before going here, so didn't try anything. The patio area allows dogs, so we sat out there to enjoy our drinks and visit with the pooches. read more

Me and my male friend decided to try this bar again (Tuesday night 10:15pm). This would have been our 2nd time here. The 1st time we visited was on a Thursday the week before, probably 45 minutes before the night/last bar shift change. The only reason we came again was for the cheap drinks, nothing else. While our 1st time at the pub was just OK, this 2nd time was horrible. We didn't even get service. We stood at the bar while both the male and female bartenders made dead eye contact with us, then went in opposite directions to service other people. No, not all of the people they serviced, approached the bar before us. We decided to leave, they didn't deserve our money but they deserve this review. But shout out to the 2 bartenders that were there earlier that Thursday, even though you guys don't make long islands ...*insert confused face* lol Overall, this place is nothing special, just your run down nasty muggy looking dive bar that I will never be returning to. The almost perfect dive. All that's missing is karaoke. I've tried their wings a few times and their spicy Buffalo and spicy Korean are fire! Especially the spicy Korean. I would give zero stars if I could. This place is completely unsanitary. The bathrooms are something out of a nightmare. Please spend your money wisely and avoid this please completely! I went there because they had a special on wings... what a joke. When I tried to order them, they told me they weren't accepting new orders for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes I tried to order again and they then told me it would be an addition half hour. After the half hour had come and gone they then told me the kitchen was closed. A classic dive - one of my favorites! This place has plenty of regulars that hang around the bar. I came in on a Sunday around noon. I wanted a daytime cocktail and some feel good food, and this place did not disappoint. I got a Mezcal drink, as well as the barbeque burger. Let me tell you - this burger was huge. I loved the barbeque sauce dredged on this burger. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. Living down the street from Rusty's Cannon Pub for the last 4 years I have seen this place turn in and out to a different place / name than the last time I had been here. That being said Rusty Cannon Pub has become a consistent place I can meet with my friends, have a few strong drinks, eat some tasty food (try this wings and/or their burgers), and play Uno cards or darts these days. Happy Hours are always until 8pm and include $1 off Texas beers and $1 off Texas liquor. Last time I was at Rusty's on a Friday it was bumping, service was prompt, and we had a lot of fun hanging out on the high top tables playing Uno with each other. I appreciate the service and the delicious food. The fact that this place is just steps away from where I live is an extra bonus paired with the fact that I can drink / eat as much as I want and walk it off by the time I get home by foot. read more

The overall experience along with the taste and quality of the food was a strong 2 stars. They are getting the 3rd star for the homemade potato chips. We stopped in on a weekday to check out this place. It offered a decent menu, drinks, pool, darts and my favorite activity....shuffleboard. We went about 2:30pm so there were only 2 other guests in the place when we arrived. I ordered the chicken sandwich off the lunch special and my boyfriend had the cheeseburger. My lunch special was supposed to be accompanied by their homemade potato chips, however it was delivered sans chips. After inquiring about the chips, the waitress went and looked at the menu, then into the kitchen and 10 min later arrived with hot potato chips. She apologized and said she did not know that their lunch special came with chips, then explained she put the order in wrong as a regular sandwich. Besides the fact, some of the employees try to get you to buy them shots of alcohol, tacos are super greasy, & burgers generally don't come out cooked properly. And the place seriously needs a scrub down; OMG!! Not even kidding! They were cited for keeping food past expiration date + keeping food at wrong temperatures, which explains why the coleslaw always taste bad, & quit eating there after this was brought to my attention by other regulars as well. Super gross; bathrooms are freaking dirty-toilet normally covered in urine, because the urinal generally doesn't work. So if you need to take a #2 good luck cleaning all the urine off the seat. Only reason I went to this bar was I lived on the south side of Austin but in the past two years moved to Leander. And would come into town a few times a week to meet friends, shoot some pool, and crack a few cold ones. But there's other places I can go after the experience I'm going to share with you . Thieves!!!!!!! Beware!!!!!!!!! Save your receipt. Only way I was able to prove, is the fact I saved receipt after 5 times of this happening my gut told me something wasn't right.Anyways owner gave me money back when I showed up w/ receipts said, " I was problem and no longer welcome." I was cut off around 10 o'clock, on the night in question. When I went to pay for tab I thought the $89.50 was too much & asked for an itemized receipt. I was so drunk that a Crumbled receipt up and stuck in my pocket. I thought I dropped it couldn't find it asked bartender Reed for another copy and then said no never mind just going to get in my Uber and leave. So bartender was under the impression I didn't have any paper trail plus probably to drunk to remember details of transaction. In my mind I took a mental note of transaction as I always do, because I have an app on my phone that allows me to know what should've been debited out of my account. So when transaction cleared on account and too much was taken out I went back to bar. To get a copy of receipt from a bartender which only confirmed what I already knew they forged my signature and help themselves to extra money they didn't even earn. Wonder how they would feel if someone came in and took $13 out of their tip jar, they would probably call the cops. 26 minutes later after I leave establishment my card is recharged like I said it's in black-and-white; no disputing it. Owner said I'm no longer welcome because; initially I posted review, and then took down until I could talk with owner to get to bottom of his employees skimming off the customers. And that's why I'm banned not for the fact that this is fabricated; it's the fact that I went online and it upset the owner more, than his employee stealing from his customers; & his online reputation more important, than actual thieves working behind the bar. I considered that place family up until now. Problem is not fixed I would avoid this place. Same thieves working behind the bar. You be the judge just beware either pay in cash or pay attn: I left a $20 tip on the $89.50 tab after I left $7.50 was added to the tab & another$5 to the tip, which added up to around $13 extra equaling $123 dollars total.Which is over initially $109.50 that should've been debited from my account. I will post these receipts if this is disputed on another review stay tuned & pay attention to your tab, what your consuming and what you're being charged. Thought I would give this place a second chance, had been here Before Covid and was following them on Facebook so thought it would be a great place to come back to, however when I went I was not impressed at all. The mozzarella sticks were burn and didn't even taste like mozzarella, the margarita were so sour and sweet I could not even drink it. Ok, came here since I know they have the NFL package and have 9 TV's. So expect to watch as many games as I want on Sunday-well...not the case. Sorry Dallas fans, but do you really need 4 of the 9 Tv's designated to less than half full bar?! Especially as a Fantasy football fan. When I asked, the owner (I believe), he made all sorts of excuses on why the Dallas game needed to be on 4 TV's-seemed like a lame excuse. Especially when you have the NFL package and have choices and good games to watch. I would have liked to see other games instead of having to use my phone for scores. What's the point of having the NFL package if you are limited on what is being offered? On a positive note, bartenders are good and attentive, food was ok/ordered the eggs Benedict special and was decent (miss the chicken fried steak and eggs on the menu-that was really good). Just a disappointment that you can't watch all the games.:( read more

classic ass dive bar with games and few frills. just how i like a bar. food is fantastic. they do 50¢ wings on Mondays and boy was it crowded, but the food came quick and was incredibly tasty. highly recommend the spicy korean. drinks were good and well priced. only getting 4 stars because the bartender was very rude when i tried to close my tab off to the side. i was told to wait in the 20 min long line of indecisive people waiting to order food and drinks. i would have just let them auto charge the 20% tip on all walked tabs, except that despite having this rule they still hold onto your card. overall good experience but the tail end left a bad taste in my mouth. will still come back and remember to pay as i go instead of leaving a tab open. read more

I ordered a couple of meals through Uber Eats: the Chili Big Dog with mustard, chili, cheese, and onion served on a hoagie. Waaaayyy too much mustard. The vinegar flavor overpowered the chili, onions, and cheese. That's some damned powerful mustard. I'd suggest that you skip it completely! Also got a 1/2 order of the battered French fries. The fries are nice big steak cut fries, well cooked, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Unfortunately, they either weren't battered or were so lightly battered that I couldn't even detect the batter. I'd get them again though, but next time I'd know what to expect. The last item was two beef fajita tacos with salsa and chips; pretty mediocre. Big tacos, but not much flavor. Salsa, spicy but didn't seem to be homemade (I could be wrong), and chips from a bag. All in all, not bad for pub fare, but kinda sad that the fries were the star of the night. read more

I went to Rusty Cannon last week to get a beer after a long day of work. The service there has never been particularly great, but I usually go there with a few friends, so it doesn't really bother me. This time I went by myself, so I got a better perspective at how bad it is. On that particular night, they were having some sort of poker tournament. I sat down and for the life of me, I could not get any of the waiting staff's attention. Finally, one of them saw me and I ordered a Lonestar. When I finished the first one, I tried again to get somebody's attention, but it almost seemed intentional how they were ignoring me. They almost refused to look in my direction. I kept on trying to make eye contact, I raised my empty bottle, I kept saying "excuse me," but nothing. At some point some big burly biker looking guy walked up to the bar and he was served immediately. So were a couple of gentlemen to my right. I finally got up and really raised my voice. I said "excuse me, can I please get a beer!" The waitress, I think her name was Lindsey looked at me in disgust and asked, "what are you having?" (even though I'm standing there with a Lonestar in my hand) By this time, I should've just gotten out of there, but after I finished my second beer, I decided I was going to have one more. I started wondering if me being one of the only few hispanics in there had something to do with it, but I thought to myself how ridiculous that would be here in Austin, right? Well, then I noticed another hispanic guys trying to get a bar tender to refill his glass of coke. They refused to make eye contact with him and he actually followed one of the bar tenders to the opposite side of the bar to get noticed. The bar tender finally looked up at him in disgust and reluctantly filled his glass. I decided I was going to have one more and close out. But here we go again. I kept getting passed over. I finally got the bar tender's attention and I said, can I please get a Lonestar and my tab. He got me my Lonestar, but did not get my tab. I figured, I still had some time before I finished my beer, so I didn't say anything until I finished it. When I was done, I asked him, "sir can I please get my tab." He said, "will you bear with us, we are busy with poker night." At this point, I just lost my temper and I angrily told him "I asked you once before!" The next part, I am not proud of, but I am not apologizing and I am not taking it back... I was just very angry. I asked him " are you all not serving minorities tonight?" He shook his head and just walked off. He didn't even give me my tab. At this point another bar tender walked up and noticed I was upset. He asked what I needed. I said, "I just need to get my tab so I can get out of here." I think at that point he asked me if I was okay... I said, "you all have been treating me like I'm some [slur for a Mexican person] sitting here]. He seemed shocked by my reaction, but he kept his cool. He gave me my tab, I made sure to put $0 for a tip and got out of there. I don't know what might have been going on that night. I will say that I will NEVER set foot in there again. Maybe I was completely wrong as to what happened, but perception is reality. read more
