Las lomas is an old favorite but it had been a while since my last visit. I'm happy to say not much has changed. The award winning table salsa is my favorite as far as table salsa is concerned. It's ACTUALLY spicy, I believe they use Serrano instead of jalapeño, gives it a huge kick. The queso here is not spicy as all (but I fix that by adding a spoon or two of the salsa). The drinks are tasty, well balanced between sweetness and alcohol taste. Great price drinks even when it's not happy hour, but they always have one or two specials going on, great place to grab a drink. Service is always great. We visited mid afternoon during a weekday so there wasn't many people at the time (works for us, we got our favorite table). Always clean dining rooms with jukebox music playing. Absolutely f ing disgusting food, but I found it inedible so hard to call it food. I'm from metro NY. This restaurant wouldn't make it to a second day open there. I threw my entire delivery order out so at 8:15pm I first have to go out and find dinner. I've got no groceries. The whole point was to relax at home. They need to advise when something called BEANS has MEAT in it. I seriously want to throw up. A side of limes was an insane like 4 whole limes like wtf am I supposed to do with that? I'm one person. It was like for a large family. The enchiladas were absolutely gross. Soggy and more cheeses than should be. All wet. Nothing like any photos I saw. It was a gross mess. We ordered chicken and steak fajitas, along with chips and chili con queso for delivery through DoorDash, and everything arrived hot, fresh, and full of bold flavors. The fajitas were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, while the queso was rich, creamy, and downright addictive. A standout highlight was their in-house lemonade Fresca--pure, refreshing perfection in a cup! It's a must-try. This is TexMex in the best way. I have only had this food by delivery, so it must be even better in person. I got the "regular dinner" with 2 beef enchiladas, and I also got the queso compuesto appetizer, both were delicious. The rice, the beans, the enchilada sauce, is 100% the way I grew up eating it. A lot of Mexican food in Austin is disappointing, so I was happy to be satisfied with this meal. Californians may not like this style, but those from Texas will know what they're getting. My coworker just recently booked the restaurant for a private event for 50 people, however upon arriving they had booked another event at the same time. The inside is very small and barely accommodates 50 people on the restaurant side. The other half is the bar side. The whole place was packed and seemed to be understaffed for the amount of people there. It was probably way over the capacity limit for the restaurant. His party was booked since September and the other party was booked a few weeks prior to the day of the event per the waitress. As far as service, our cups were always empty, however the food was really good and nice and hot! The salsa was also very flavorful! My advice to be more efficient is to not double book large events especially with very limited indoor seating. The outdoor temp that evening was about 40 so the outside seating was not an option for either party. read more

I haven't been here in person due to Covid. I've ordered here twice through favor. Man so delicious. I've been wanting something available in my area that wasn't really gross basic Tex Mex that makes me feel like everything is slightly elevated version of Taco Bell. No shade to anyone who wants Taco Bell, I just want better quality. Enchiladas Suiza is so delicious. Ordered most of the tacos on their A La Carte, all very tasty. Charro Beans are tasty and with a slight punch of spice. Salsa is actually made like it's suppose to be which is with a slight kick of spice vs most places give you this runny tomato salsa that doesn't benefit your taco. I got the enchiladas plate with a Mexican coke and Tres Leches cake on Doordash. The enchiladas, beans and rice were decent. The Mexican coke was very warm. The milk/cream from the Tres Leches slightly spilled in the bag due to poor packaging, the store needs to do a better job on finding a container that can safely transport Tres Leches because their current system doesn't work and I can't be only one who received a messy Tres Leches cake. Nice little find. I wanted TexMex which is unusual as I typically prefer interior Mexican or pure Mexican but today I had a craving for sour cream chicken enchiladas. $5.99 for lunch. Wow. What a deal! Salsa was amazing. Fresh veggies and nice spice level (hotter than most). Enchiladas were spot on and beans yummy! I just added salsa to enchiladas and rice for more spice. Service was friendly and timely and lots of parking options. Overall I can't find much wrong with this place other than it is stuck in a weird strip mall location but it's very good basic TexMex, which is really what most people want even though they don't admit it. This is horrible food. I got it delivered from Uber Eats and it was aweful... couldn't eat it.

They charge me gratuity with out it being listed on the check out screen and with out telling. I will never go here again. Ended up paying a $22 tip on a bill of $53. I tried calling the restaurant 6 times but all it has is a busy tone. Make sure to check your bill and ask questions so you don't get scammed into giving almost a 50% tip. read more

Plates were hot hitting the table, which is great..but..Kinda went south after that...Queso was just OK, but better with a couple scoops of Salsa. My Combo included a Bean Tostada , Crunchy Beef Taco, Guac Salad, One Beef, Once Cheese enchilada...Charros and Rice..The Beef in the Taco was bland...but the great Salsa came to the rescue...The refried Beans on the Tostada were good, but the guac was brownish, and had a bit of a ting to it...indicating it was not fresh and at least a couple days old. Gravy was basic on the Chiladas, but worked ok with the Beef (Same that was in the Taco) and the Cheese Chilada...Rice was light, but lacked flavor...Charros were just not happening at all...zero flavor...even the scoops of salsa couldnt save them...Wife went with the Beef Chiladas...highlight was the Chipotle sauce, with a heat that creeps up on you...On to the next Adventure. read more

Something about this place seems really shady to me. And no it's not the weird lighting, the creepy bathrooms, the dirty feel of it all. Don't get me wrong, I like me some dirty taquerias, but this place just didn't do it for me. Food was ok for tex-mex standards. My charro beans tasted and looked like they were previously frozen. Seriously disappointing. One of the waitresses referred to my husband as a 'bolillo'. Um, no. Only I can call him that. Plus he prefers 'gringo'. OMG. Best texmex in Austin, I kid you not. Salsa is hot with serranos and high with flavor. Spinach enchiladas sound dull but are anything but. Fresh spinach and onions inside, suizza (sour cream) sauce and cheese outside. Get a side of Verde tomatillo sauce to top it. It's a deep moment when you take that first bite. Black beans, check. Rice well seasoned and cooked perfectly, check. Pastor tacos were filled with tender, moist meat. Charro beans possessed a bacon soul. Our service was a tad slow because there was only one hard working server with some help from the bartender, but everything was served hot and fresh. Mark M. and I were looking for a breakfast spot to ease the pains of hunger one morning and decided to give Las Lomas a try after a friend raved about how awesome they were. I had the migas, Mark M had the Menudo. I am used to either tortillas or chips coming with my migas and didn't get either, but that's something I can live with. However, I was totally unimpressed. The migas were smothered with Velveeta (really?! Velveeta?!) and it tasted like someone had accidentally (I hope) sprinkled the migas with Cinnamon sugar it just wasn't pleasant at all. Mark M said the Menudo tasted like Tabasco flavored water; it was overly spiced and had no real flavor other than the Tabasco flavor. We'll try it once more, but for dinner or lunch; breakfast was a fail. We did notice the Happy Hour prices and will be back to get 512 Pale Ale at $2.50 a pint! read more

Delicious. This is a small place buried in a strip mall. Walking past some street people, who both said hello and asked for nothing, in I went. Is it an elegant, fancy place? No. This is a worker's place, or a place that you just want some good food at low prices. I have been here a few times before, but just had a craving after another YELPER just reviewed it. I asked for breakfast, even though it was past noon and got scrambled eggs ranchero and Carne Guisada with real, cut up potatoes and some refried beans. The hot salsa on the side is still very good. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and not over the top. The bill was about $7.00. I cannot speak to the drinks as I only had water. The lighting is a bit weird, but it reminds me of many places on both sides of the border towns. Concentrate on the food and you will probably be happy. This place was great for a low key date night or margaritas with your friends. Maybe not a first date spot. Definitely dress down- old patio furniture outside and junky chairs and tables inside. We brought our dogs to sit outside. Quiet enough to have a good conversation, loud enough to not be overheard. Cheap Tex-mex eats and a fantastic waitstaff. Margaritas were strong and tasted great. Never in this area but needed a place for us and 4 kids (plus a Mexican martini) on a hot day. It was "the best" option in a close radius but the service was horrible. They took over an hour to serve our (subpar at best) food, while we waited they never asked if we needed a refill on drinks and ignored the request for more chips (dish of one for a table 6). The one waitress (two if you count an elderly lady making drinks) was not enough. Never once did she apologize for wait. Never once did she provide extra plates we asked for. Never once while eating did she offer more drinks that were very much needed at this point. I saw people walking up to counter to attempt to check out and they still weren't attended to. Will NEVER return. Couldn't even ignore the awfulness... because we only had one drink. read more

First I had enchiladas. They were burnt and hardly anything in them. Secondly, yes they serve pitchers of margaritas but NOT pitchers of water. (I didn't order any margaritas but the people I was with did.) I kept asking for water for everyone. Lastly, be careful with the pregnant waitress, her man is the manager and she's always right, not the customer. I simply asked for cups of water and said I had been waiting for about 10 minutes. I like this place, it is seriously tucked in the back of a shopping mall, practically hidden, so it is usually not very crowded. Is it the best Tex Mex in town? Probably not. However, it is pretty dang good Tex Mex. The rice was fluffy, the beans were yummy (although perhaps a tad salty). I had the refried and black beans and my Dad enjoyed the charro. Chips were good, the salsa was good, except it tasted like it was made with out of season tomatoes. Which makes sense, because it is kind of out of season. Overall, a good place, I really enjoyed it.
