It was…read moreamazing even though I couldn't afford any art piece in this gallery, the minimum worth was $200,000 and my friend's favorite was 17 millions. The reason the price was high because every single element of his Art makes people excited. Alexander Calder is the creator of the mobile, inspired by Piet Mondrian and Joan Miro. And the name 'mobile' given by Marcel Duchamp, very famous for the 'Fountain'. I was also very excited to see many art piece of Alexander Calder at once and never visited to buy and negotiate the price of the Art. My first time experience. My…read moreinitial thought was the Picasso exhibit at the location to the west of Central Park, but a friend told me about the Takashi Murakami Japonisme exhibit at the Gagosian which was near the Genesis House. Perfect! The Gagosian gallery area wasn't huge, but held a lot of pieces, both large and small. The staff encouraged me to not get too close, in order to protect the artwork, but I was still able to see the textures and to locate the little fun surprises hidden in the paintings. This was a great exhibit for even those who are not normally into art.

Everything was beautiful and enchanting. I was also fortunate to join the 2 p.m. guided tour of the library. It was enriching to learn about the connections between the collections of rare books and artworks and J.P. Morgan's religious background. I truly loved the experience.

Throughout the year, different types of memorabilia are on display to the public before being auctioned. During my visit, I saw a wide variety of memorabilia from the Jim Irsay Collection. This included movie props, screenplays, music, sports, and autographs. I was especially impressed when I witnessed the Golden Ticket, a signed Babe Ruth baseball, and The Beatles drumset. Admission is free and complimentary cookies and coffee are served in the lobby. Due to the value of the merchandise, all visitors must pass through a metal detector. Large size bags are not allowed in the gallery, but they may be left at the Coat Check. The only disadvantage is that the exhibitions are temporary. Featuring two exhibits when I visited, one entitled peep show and the other Pistoletto I must admit I was rather taken aback by the frankly graphic nature of Peep Show, though certainly not offended - but rather intrigued and quite impressed by the photography displayed at Pistoletto. All told the exhibit contained about 2/3 as much art as Neue and 1/4 as much as Guggenheim - and was $10 and $18 cheaper than each, respectively - and I enjoyed the James staff and approach much more. On par with any of the Chelsea Galleries and better than most - and free.

It had a good variety of art and enjoyed, the most common thing was many different forms of butterfly art. Lots of eye catching things and plenty of pieces to make you think. It is a smaller sized gallery so you can easily visit and admire the art with a short amount of time. Which I definitely recommend was a great place to get away from the large holiday crowds of 5th Avenue. There were a number of people working for the gallery who I assume could answer any questions you have about a specific piece. Not a clue on prices, but assume they are pricey. If you are a fan of art check this out!

So many beautiful and artsy pieces!…read more Upon entering, you're greeted by a security guard, who was actually quite friendly. The art studio is two levels, but apparently, in order to peruse the second level, you have to be "somebody" in this world -- meaning, affluence, influence, ya know....you better have that paper. I don't have that kind of paper, so my humble self stayed on the lower level lol. The selections were unique, some were comical, and simply fun to look at. The pieces are definitely pricey, but it was nice to see the art and dream of a mansion with expensive pieces adoring the walls. I'd say give this place a visit if you need something to do while in the city. 10/10
