He said I needed a prism lens since I had a "lazy eye" issue as a kid (55 years ago mind you!) and those eye muscles turned my eye a slightly different way causing blurriness. He was 100% right. Incredibly knowledgeable and wonderful personality to boot. His team is great too - very attentive to every detail. I will be a customer for life. I should have been brought in for a re-exam or evaluation after the first concerning call. That was never remotely offered. I paid out of pocket to see another doctor, who suggested the prescription was too strong and not appropriate for my eyes. He shook his head when I showed him the measurements. Very disappointing experience and even poorer follow-up care.

I take a medication that has " floppy irises" as a side effect. He was able to adapt his procedure to account for that, and it went very well. A number of people have commented on how well they were treated and respected, not only by the doctor, but by his colleagues in the practice. I want to echo that. It's a rare and special phenomenon in this day and age. I highly recommend Dr. Tokuhara and the Desert Vision Center.

I am SO very happy to have seen Dr. Gail Murphy at MONROVIA OPTOMETRY! I have known that I needed glasses for a few years now, but I never felt comfortable going to an optometrist. I so dreaded all the decisions I would have to make as well as the cost of the glasses and the exam. Dr. Murphy was just wonderful. She thoroughly and carefully examined my eyes, asked about my needs and activities, calmly answered my questions, and then counseled and advised me. She also worked within my limited budget. WOW. What doctor does this? The office is lovely and equipped with state of the art technology. The building is easy to find and has an additional entrance as well as ample parking in the rear. Toni, the office manager, is a sweetheart. This is truly a professional business with a warm and caring touch. And, I am so very pleased and relieved to have found Dr. Gail! read more

He showed me the inside of my eyeballs and explained everything going on with my eyesight. He even explained how my medication also helps widen the veins in my eyes to get blood flowing there. We talked about how my vision affects me at work, daily life and what type of lenses suited my needs. Dr. Voster also recommended some eye drops to help with the dryness. He escorted me to another side of the office that was where the glasses were. They have a decent selection. The person that helped me gave me recommendations and broke down costs. Overall it was a great experience, but just an FYI - it was a bit of a sticker shock with the kind of lenses I got. I got the ones where I can see far when driving and have readers for close up. Personally, I should have just got regular glasses and bought some readers separately. Lol I say consider this place as an option. They are truly a great staff with excellent services - and the costs reflect that. That may be a little more than one anticipates. To give u an idea, exam + eyeball thing + frames + lenses... I think it came out to $260 out of pocket. Mind you, my insurance is pretty great. Anyhow. Hope this info helps!
