This has to do with the retinal mapping and the receptionist at the front office. There are two ladies so I want to make sure I get the right one. Looking into the office it is one that it would be on my right. This is my second visit to this office And it has to do with an overcharge from said receptionist. She is not transparent and could care less when I told her that I was never asked if I wanted the napping asked to post to dilating the pupils. Apparently it's $30 here and $30 there where they make their money. That must be her main objective, I am very disappointed. Everyone else was a delight to work with, but not her!!! Not nice, not truthful, evasive, deceitful! needs to go! I will not return. Will tell others and unfortunately the whole office suffers. We'll find a different place and you need to also. read more

I got my glasses after being told to wait in area with out air conditioning. My service dog and I couldn't breathe. I didn't remain there. I was dizzy and gasping for air. They handed me my glasses in a cloth bag and didn't give me a receipt or test my vision with the glasses. My frames were twisted , I barely got help adjusting them. I adjusted them at home as I am an ex-optician certified in California. I asked for the hard case that comes with every single frame!? They handed me a soft cheap cloth case and said they're understaffing and couldn't look for it. I cannot read with these lenses. I've had them for a month and my eyes haven't adjusted. Knowing that I wrote a review and was treated like crap and then going in a second time and being treated worse... who wants that! I'll never go back here. It's sad they have great frames and the doctor was very kind. I'm so sad. I'm 61 years old and homeless. I've worn glasses since I was a child. This is the first pair of glasses I've never been able to see close or far!? It's like I had someone else's prescription for my eyes. I'm so disappointed. Waited over a month. HORRIBLE! AVOID!!! I can buy the same glasses for 1/5 the price at zenni.com, and get excellent service. On 4/23 this office left me in the waiting room 2 hours, with barely an apology. Then the manager, Demian, PROMISED me delivery before my Mom's funeral, so I could speak and read my notes better. I had to do the eulogy without the correct glasses. Today they didn't call me back, as promised, with updates. A month after demanding full payment, they still don't know where my glasses are! The Zenni.com price for clip-on sun shades, for your specific rims, is $7. These people charge $140 for the same thing! Their prices are 64 times higher than Zenni.com on most options. Get your eyes tested at Costco, and use Zenni.com. In 10 years I've never had a bad experience with Zenni. Their high quality bifocals, with cool rims, cost about $85 rather than $600+. read more

The Dr here (Jae Lee) didn't seem friendly or welcoming and the front desk person, Karen, wasn't very 'helpful' as well. I have Kaiser insurance & they referred me here. I have zero copays on all tests & procedures related to eyecare, plus the exam is also covered by my insurance. It was my first time here so there was paperwork to be completed. I know I have no copays so I skipped over everything and signed. Once my exam was over and I was checking out, I was required to pay $29 for a retinal scan. I mentioned I was referred by my healthcare provider & I have zero copays on all eye related tests, etc. The response from Karen was, "the fee was indicated in the paperwork you signed, and you should have read it". Wow. She also stated, "most people don't read the paperwork and are upset when they're charged". Having a contract with a huge healthcare company like Kaiser, you'd think she would have mentioned the fee to me, but she also didn't seem too concerned when I said I'd be filing a complaint with Kaiser (which I did), so I decided to Yelp them as well. Absolutely cannot recommend this office. We have eye insurance that has a $0 copay for eye exams. The optometrist for both my wife and myself at the very end of our exams said 'I need to run one more test." When we went to leave we were told that we each had a $29 balance. They agreed we had a zero copay but the "test" was $29. We already had both declined the retinal mapping they offer but apparently they did it anyways. This optometrist office is dishonest. If they don't like the insurance coverage they should not participate and they shouldn't sneak in a test without advising of costs. If this test was really medically necessary then either my health insurance or eye insurance would have covered it. In any event we won't be going back here and will file a complaint with the state on their business practices. read more

I paid $100 out of pocket for upgraded bi- focal glasses, when I put them on both my near and far view was completely blurry and so I asked for my $ back and after months of dragging me around they refuse to give me my $ back even though the prescription was defective! Hello!! Today is 11/11/24. I went here for my annual eye-exam in mid September. I picked which glasses I wanted. A tech told me, she would call me once my insurance approved it and when glasses would arrive. I never received a CALL... I called late September to see if they arrived and no not yet. I called first week of October, and they told me they haven't arrived! I was already getting upset because it doesn't take this long for a pair of glasses to arrive. I called again mid-October and same answer NO...!! So i called one last time, and the lady who answered my call said, Yes, your pair of glasses are here. They arrived October, 1, 2024. I was so upset and disappointed on how they were lacking and lieing to me about my glasses. I then stopped by on November,4th to pick them up, and I was directed to back and someone will help me. I waited for 17 minutes until an employee saw me and asked me what I waiting for??? The same employee told me to go to back and wait, while someone would help me?? All together a bad experience and employees giving me the wrong answer and not communicating with me. I'm not sure, if I'll go there again for my annual eye exam. This place needs to be more organized and communicate with their patients!! read more

This business is the worst eye care doctor group I've ever dealt with! The doctors themselves are not terrible but the people working in the office are so unwelcoming, not customer oriented at all, and never really tried to work with their clients. I don't even know why they would go to work at all. As a client I was dealt with so many rejections, I.e, doctor not available even when the doctor himself told me to come back asap if the prescribed medication does not work. This is the most inept, disgustingly run business I have ever come in contact with. Walking in the door there 5 months ago turned out to be one of the worst choices I've ever made. But let me skip past the gory details of weeks of lost glasses, weeks trying to get a call back, broken glasses, long stories and strange explanations, etc etc, and skip forward to today. I have no new lenses after 5 months, and in fact, the last I heard, my glasses were sitting at a lab for MANY WEEKS already, without being worked on! Why, because Rancho Mirage Eye Care hasn't paid their past due bills to the laboratory! So Rancho Mirage EyeCare, and the laboratory, have effectively stolen my glasses, are holding them hostage, and refuse to return them to me. I have obviously tried on numerous occasions to connect and get some resolution from this derelict and sleazy company, but they don't call back, ever. I asked the manager Marissa for the lab's contact information so I could retrieve my glasses myself, but she flatly refused, and has refused to call me back with any update or resolution. I finally wrote them a letter giving them until today to return or pay me for my glasses, but of course, they have chosen to ignore that too. So, they have forced me to take legal action now to simply retrieve or get paid for the glasses they have stolen from me. Btw, this store is owned by Jaehoon Lee Optometry Co, and was founded by Dr Evans, neither have bothered to respond. So I filed complaints against Jaehoon Lee Optometry Co and Rancho Mirage Eye Care with the California Attorneys General Office, the CFPB, FTC, Rancho Mirage BBB, Riverside County, and have reported the stolen property to the RivCo Sherrif's Dept. in Rancho Mirage. If there were a lower rating I would use it. This place is horrific. Charged me over a thousand dollars for a pair of glasses I usually would pay $500 for and lied to both me and the insurance company about charges. The first glasses were so completely off on the RX I was nauseous and they were unwearable. They gave me a second exam and made another pair of glasses but those fell apart in the hands of the tech before I ever got to try them outside the office. I started this process back in January, now it is mid April and not only do I have no glasses, they have rude, unaccommodating and unprofessional. Today I told them to keep the glasses and filed complaints with my insurance company and the credit card company. I am not a guinea pig and I don;t have time to cater to people who don't know what they are doing. All they were ever worried about was the $$$$. Do NOT use this place. Amazing staff. Dr. Evan's is truly a low vision professional & expert. My friend, who has Suttgart Disease and was doubtful in any improvement had an excellent and positive experience when she; her husband and I met with Dr. Evan's and Damian, his Low Vision Technology Tech. After reviewing several eyeglass lens improvements we saw State of the Art gadgets that enhance reading, TV, internet and provide the patient & loved ones that vision enhancements are available. Karen left with 2 enhancements that will now allow for reading a menu and Smartphone, seeing freckles on people's faces on TV and many other things! This experience was life changer to each of us! If you need a DMV form filled out, go here FIRST! The first place I went didn't have the technology (or perhaps didn't have the expertise) to assess my eyes and wrote on the form that I would have to give up my night driving privileges. This place is super high tech--they'll hook you up and test you with three separate high tech machines, and you are getting your money's worth--they are the same price as the low tech place I went! Dr Evans was able to assess that I actually CAN drive at night by diagnosing what was actually wrong with my bad eye and testing my vision rather than just assuming I was blind in that eye when the basic eye chart test didn't go well. The first doctor didn't even detect I had astigmatism, but Dr Evans' machine detected it immediately! The technicians were both very friendly and Dr Evans himself was a wonderful, compassionate fellow. When I was done with the exam, the technician who selected my glasses didn't pressure me to buy anything expensive and helped point out cheap frame options. After a visit and exam at another Optician, I came to the conclusion that the exam fromEvans was a joke! I had my eyes examined earlier this year and waited due to COVID 19 to get glasses. When I called, they told me they changed computer programs and lost all of the records. I asked if they had ever heard of backing data up. They told me the computer program they had been using wasn't capable of backing data up. I was told I could make another appointment and get my eyes examined again. I asked what that would cost? She didn't say anything. I told them that losing records was irresponsible. I don't think they lost any records. They wanted me come in and get my glasses from them. Their glasses are very expensive, and I wanted to go somewhere else. I do have vision insurance and am going to make a complaint with the insurance company. This establishment obviously is very dishonest. Stay Away! read more

I went to Dr. Evans thinking he was an MD but he's not. My bad for not checking further. I told him I had an allergy to Sulpha but he prescribed drops with Sulpha and I had a horrible reaction. His response was that it usually doesn't relate to eye drops....Then he said I needed cataract surgery and sent me to Dr. Wainess who comes to town, does the surgeries and goes on to the next town. During the surgery pieces of the cataract fell into my eye. I never saw Dr. Wainess again. He didn't see the results of his work. The day after surgery Dr. Evans sent me to the CA Retina Center, Dr. Samuels who after 10 days of agony did surgery to remove the cataract pieces....only he didn't do a complete job and weeks later I lost vision in the eye and had further complications. Dr. Samuels was cavalier about it and wanted to do another surgery to get out the remaining pieces. Needless to say I went to another retina surgeon who had a careful and complete job. Dr. Evans never check on me, no follow up, Dr. Wainess never followed up. By the way, the eye they operated on was the better of my two eyes and multiple doctors have said the "bad eye" does not need cataract surgery so I suspect I was offered cataract surgery that I didn't need. Its been 8 moths, three eye surgeries, 7 doctors, and I'm left with high pressure and dry eye neither of which I had before I went to Dr. Evans, Dr. Wainess and Dr. Samuel. And my vision in that eye after all this trauma is worse than it was before all this. Run, don't walk away from Evans Eye Care and anyone they refer you to. After reading Dr. Evan's response, I'd like to add that he was the one that prescribed the Sulpha drops on my first visit to him, not Dr. Wainess. And when my current retinal surgeon, who fixed the problems, mentioned me to him and that he had never seen me again, Dr Evans said "oh, I guess she fell through the cracks."... now that's a new level of followup care. Its 2 years later and I'm still in treatment for Glaucoma in that eye from all the surgeries. Run people, don't walk. read more

The office itself is stunning and comfortable for the client, spacious and yet welcoming. Two years ago I was struck in the eye, rendering myself unable to see briefly. I am thankful everyday that Dr. Evans and his staff were on duty and able to rush me in to perform a sight saving procedure. After visiting several other Eyecare facilities here in the area over the years, I just went for my first visit to Evans Eyecare, and I elated to say that I have finally found a wonderful optician that I will fully patronize and fully endorse with my friends. When I first entered their office, I was immediately greeted with a huge smile and hello by the receptionist. My eye exam was performed by Dr. Evans himself, and he was so genuinely kind, and I could tell he truly cared about his patient. All of the equipment used was ultra modern and I feel I received a most excellent and competent exam. My prescription for my glasses had changed, and I needed new ones, and that was made possible by the sweetest and most delighted young lady in the Optical area where they had a huge selection of frames. When I picked my frames up, I found them to be extraordinary. I could see so clearly in all aspects. I am so happy with the quality of care I received, and again, I am simply delighted that I have finally found a home for quality eyecare. read more

Evans Eye Care (now Rancho Mirage Eye Care) met the high standards that I expecting -- and more! The office is very efficient. I was seen immediately, despite being early for my appointment. The pre-exam was quick, pleasant, and thorough, with each procedure thoroughly explained. Dr. Lee was knowledgeable, extremely pleasant, and thorough, taking the time to show me the results of my retinal exam and explaining how and why my eyes were in good health. Damian, the optician, is a superstar. I am disabled, and he graciously went to every display case to bring recommended frames for me to try on. He must have brought me 50 choices and helped me winnow down the options to the ideal pair. But then, the best part: since they take my vision insurance, my bill was so low it took my breath away.
