I stopped in very busy Gail's for a quick bite before taking a tour of the Thames river. The place displayed their freshly made food choices quite nicely and the baked goods looked amazing! I settled on the Crustless tomato and corgette slice. It was delicious, I love the olives and zucchini, and it was a very generous portion. My only complaint is that it was cold. We were exploring the area when we came across Gail's Bakery. The smell of freshly baked bread and pastries lured us in. Glad we went in because the egg sandwich I got was one of my favorite things I had on my trip! They had a variety of treats including cakes, muffins, scones, breads, etc. I'm not a big coffee/tea drinker but they had those options as well. The place is smaller but they have a few tables to eat in. Most people were taking away (I think prices were less for that option). 4.5 stars A solid coffee shop chain in the London metropolitan area. Since being the great country of England, I have gone four times already (has great locations throughout the city). I have tried a bunch of their items: iced latte, egg sandwich, baked eggs with sourdough, cinnamon bun, carrot cake, and artichoke quiche. The menu holds so much variety and freshness that trying a new item is highly recommended. Everything has been a solid quality that you know the items are freshly baked in the mornings. My only compliant is the service is not always friendly in the morning hours (they don't jump in to help with questions regarding the menu and seem rather impatient). Additionally, the sourdough bread could have been served as a toast form instead of a little slivers. Besides that, I plan to see myself coming many more times while in the London area. It is a great and cozy place with wifi, seating, and nice treats for studying/chatting with friends. read more

09/13/17 This restaurant is really close to where we were staying at LSE bankside and the Tate Modeern museum. My daughter and I came here for some breakfast and something to drink. My daughter got a Latte and I got a tea. I got quiche and my daughter got something close to a cinnamon twist. The barista's were beyond friendly and knowledgeable. The crust to the quiche was crumbly and flaky. The egg filling was so yummy and tasty. We sat for awhile and talked about how nice it would be to live close by. Nice outside sitting area, nice inside sitting (we moved inside when it drizzled), inside is pretty noisy, good service. Very pleasant tea cups and teapots and good tea. Coffee, not so great. Pastries were on a better side of average, but salmon avocado rolls were great, and just the right size (I love lox bagels, but standard New York serving is 3x more than I can manage at once). This branch is definitely much better than the one near Tottenham Court Road. The staffs were friendlier, the service was better and definitely enjoyed the atmosphere altogether. I ordered ice chocolate, this is a must try. It's so thick and creamy, I was actually surprised. The one at TTC was watery AF. I also ordered a slice of lemon drizzle and chocolate cake each. It was nicely done. Not too dry, very moist. They were a little slow in bringing out the food but overall they were very efficient and got all the orders right. I doubt Gail's maintains the same level of service and food quality at each of their branches, but this is one of the better ones. read more

Even on a rainy day during which I would presume many would be hiding in cafes ducking the rain, I could find empty seats and even an entire table to spread out my work with no problem. I enjoyed the mini egg and avocado sandwich--it tasted like there were large sea salt chunks on the bread or maybe inside. Good wifi! read more

This bakery is the worst, I walked in with my 7-year-old cousin and she has asthma. After a couple minutes, she started to have coughing fits and taking her inhaler. The hubby and I shared the sausage roll, scrambled eggs on sourdough, and a ham and leek quiche as well as coffee which were all fantastic (but the sourdough was my favorite and quite possibly the most flavorful bread I've ever had).
