But I was totally satisfied with my choice! From the outside I wasn't expecting such a large and nicely decorated restaurant. There were almost no other customers, and my server seemed delighted to have someone to make a good impression on. They had a few different types of steak; I ordered the €12 one which came covered with bacon & shrimp (normally there would also be mushrooms but I asked them to hold the mushrooms). There were also fresh-fried potato chips, a side salad, and some rice, plus I'd asked for bread and cheese as a starter, and I was also brought some olives. What I'm saying is that I got A LOT of food! And it was all really good! The steak was boneless and lean and really, really juicy. All that stuff on top of it created a ton of flavor that made every bite of that steak absolutely delicious. And those potato chips I mentioned, that sounds corny but if you get a dish that comes with those, start on them right away while they're still fresh from the fryer. All that food on my plate plus a 1.5-liter bottle of water ran me €16.50. It was very reasonable and I expect to return here before I leave Terceira Island.

We went on Thursday morning around 11am, and was disappointed that it won't open until noon. My empty stomach did not want to wait so we left. But I came back two days later for lunch and very glad that I did. We ordered grilled grouper and fried "abrotea", both were so fresh! Especially the latter was impressive; even though it was fried but very light and tender! The waiter suggested this local fish, and we were happy that we took his advice. The interior of this place is nicely decorated that we browsed around while waiting for our dishes. The service was excellent. The waiter speaks fluent English. It is next to the fresh market, so we got to visit it too!

I'm not very prone to hyperbole, but this place deserves to be a Michelin rated restaurant. It's…read moreabsurd that this place is under any sort of radar. It should be up there with the best of them. You should be travelling to Terceira just to eat here. I'm about to go re-rate, and lower the rating on every other restaurant I ate at on this trip because nothing was comparable. Had I eaten here on my first day, everything else would pale by comparison, and probably ruin the vacation. So I guess by that measure, it's probably a good thing that I ate here on the second to last day of the trip! Okay, so let me start by telling you where we failed, so you can do better. Call and make a reservation the morning of the day BEFORE you plan to eat here (so approx 36 hrs ahead). The reason being, there is no menu here! You just tell them what you want, and they'll tell you what's possible given the farm/supply situation. If you call too late (like we did), you'll be limited to the a la carte options (which were still amazing), but the other way is much more intimate. Roberto or his wife will have a discussion with you on the phone to plan your party's meal. Some of the exotic options include goat, duck, rabbit, a whole roasted pig, but again... Depends on what's available. If you screw up and are too late, upon arrival, Roberto will invite you into the kitchen and show you what's fresh and available right now. The options seem to usually include grilled fish, pork ribs or steak. Your appetizers are cheese or lapas. Though we missed out on the curated menu option, the a la carte experience was still out of this world. The fish was the best we had on the whole trip by far. The cheese was also the best as well. Their desserts were decadent. And all the while Roberto or his wife would check in on us, stop to chit chat, and it just made the whole evening that much more personal. As with other places we found, tables do not turn over here. Your meal will take at least a couple hrs, and no one is in any rush. The personal touch here is phenomenal. It's an experience you won't soon forget, and for sure, the next time I come back here I'm going to plan well ahead so we get the full experience. I sincerely hope they can keep it going this way! Bravo!

Even though it was a tiny place, they had a room that was able to seat all of us on a long bench like table. We came here based on other friends' recommendations of their house burger. Many of us got the house burgers and they were delicious. Really juicy meat and great toppings and all for something like 4 euros. Other people got the house soup and it was a traditional Terceira soup they were serving that day. Very flavorful and really hit the soul. I got the Salmon salad and though it sounds boring compared to the other things my friends got, I absolutely loved it. The smoked salmon was really great and they give you so much! The salad was really filling and satisfying. I have to say the best part of the meal was the hot cocoa. This was not a cocoa I have ever tasted. my friend got it first and after trying hers, I knew I had to get my own. The cocoa was rich in flavor and so so thick. It was almost like melted chocolate but not that heavy. They steamed the milk and it became creamy and rich and I feel like that only happens with fresh milk. The whipped cream on top just made it go over the top with flavor and deliciousness. I did not find it toothachingly sweet but just the right amount of sweetness that makes you keep wanting to come back for another snip. I seriously would come here just for their hot cocoa. It was really memorable and something I know I will crave but not be able to find in America. Overall, I highly recommend coming here for lunch and grabbing a bite to eat. Their food choices are all so delicious and really cheap! Decor was pretty hippy and bohemian like the other review said. A lot of interesting things to look at. Great little cafe!

The hot chocolate looked amazing and ended up being a very thick and real chocolate so be prepared it's rich and hot and yummy. They had live music the Saturday night we went but apparently don't always. Place was packed after 10pm. Very cool decor and the ladies running this place know their patrons and are easy going - something I think others may find dismissive. European restaurants in my experience generally don't bring a check unless you ask, don't seat you unless you have a reservation (seat yourself), and if you want something you just simply ask them. Some of the nicest people are on the island of Terceira - based on my trip here - and the staff here was no different.
