I'm very particular with my kids' cut and I'm glad to say the barber here did a great job, not only with my boy but also with my husband! Wow, "EXCELLENT" This was my first time coming to this shop and I was a bit nervous due to unsatisfying other barbershop experiences. Right away I was greeted by a friendly face, to whom I now know as Ricky. I found this shop just by driving by and seeing it over the years and always saying, "man, that place looks so cool I'll have to try it." Fast forward to now what the heck was I waiting for!! This had to be one of the best decisions I have made when it comes to "where I should get my hair cuts" welp here it sits a small shop in Whitter that resembles a cool mechanic shop with an awesome owner. Ricky was not only friendly and funny but he made me feel as if I were famous and it was real time one on one. Amazing haircut recieved! X2! I recently been recommended to this barber shop by a very good freind of mine. After telling my freind about the 100's barbers and barbershops I've been to, in some point I have not been satisfied with the results with many. There were many that kept me for a bit because I was somewhat satisfied and have built a personal bond but after a few times but I was not completley happy with my haircut. I do have to say, I am a very picky person and usually request specific haircuts to be done. After having experience with many styles of haircuts and what best fits concerning my head and face structure I know which styles provides me the best appearance. However when something is off I would immediately tell them. After so many, many could not adjust to my liking and easily mess up on the most recognizable details such as the line up. After going to an abundant of barbers , Ive arrived to Rick. I told him of my experiences. Ive felt that many do not really focus and provide that passion as I observed in Rick. He listened to me carefulley and we went step by step on how I wanted my haircut done. I never been given a chance to be so detailed in my life and he asked me questions so he could feel assured he was satisfying my expectations. Concerned how my haircut would turn out I gave my complete trust to Rick, knowing that I was recommended by my freind J. Overall I did trust him because I saw the results my freind recieved. You can not imagine how happy I was! (and relieved as well!). I was given exactly what I asked for but better! He gave me suggestions and I also told him small changes that could be done to see if it might be better. However I was excited with my haircut! This post is long overdue and shouldve been done since the first haircut done but needed to be sure and get the second one and few more. Went in this morning for my son. Barber says is this for your son I say yes. He points to the price chart. I check it out and it says: Haircuts - 17 Toppers fades - 18 10 and under - 30 Wow 30 for my boy so I was gone...maybe I'm missing something about haircuts. All my boy gets is shaved sides fade with a 3 on top... Once again WOW $$$$30$$$$$ for my boy... I will say at least thanks before I sat down to let me know the price!!!! I like this place. The first time I went there, Ricky was very friendly. He did a good job. His price is posted but I didn't see it so when he finished, I asked how much? I was caught off guard when he told me $40. I paid but didn't tip because his price is so high. A couple months later I made another appointment through text message. He did a good job as usual but his attitude toward me was different. He was annoyed that I arrived a little early. He hardly spoke at all this time. I just thought he was having a bad day. I didn't realize how bothered he was about me not tipping until I tried to make a third appointment. He didn't respond to my text and he is usually very prompt. So I decided to call him, and his phone went straight to voice mail. So at that point I knew I was no longer welcome in his shop. I get it, he wants to be tipped. Tipping isn't a requirement and if I were a shop owner, as long as I was paid my fee, I wouldn't black ball someone for not tipping. I normally tip my barber, but most shops charge $20-$30 for a regular hair cut. It's Ricky's right to refuse my business. I don't hold it against him for blocking me. Just be aware that he expects a tip. I felt bad for not tipping but I felt justified that his high price offset the tip. read more

My teenager had just received an awful haircut from a local hairdresser, and I needed to get my son fixed asap. I walked in, and was helped immediately. Owner/barber is rude. Don't drive there unless you're sure he will want to make time for you. Tried to walk in and he doesn't even have the decency to talk to you, he'll just shake his head no (and basically shew you away)... it's happened more than once, so unprofessional. Also, if you make an appointment, it's $5 extra- make sure you pay him those $5 or he'll come after you if you mistakenly only hand him a $20. Skills are decent (no wow factors) but he's a jerk. Won't give this business anymore business. In response to your reply: there's a thing called common decency. If a customer comes into your establishment and knows there are people waiting, wouldn't common sense tell you they're willing to wait? No one walks in on a Saturday and expects to be service within the hour.. but you wouldn't know that since you didn't say one word. Instead you shook your head and shewed a customer away. Again, UNPROFESSIONAL. If a customer lets you know they won't make it, wouldn't you say that's (at the very least) decent. You, on the other hand, don't bother to reply. I agree, time is money which is why I let you know the appointment won't be met. Either way, I respect you run your business a "certain way" and that's the very reason I won't give you my business. He is a humble and great hearted person-whom if you knew; started working for someone else and has had the opportunity to progress and open his own barbershop. This is by far the best barber shop you will find in the LA area! My boyfriend went here a few months back and ended up switching from his old barber to this one. Not only were the barbers kind, but they were very talented. These barbers definitely know what they're doing and are excellent at what they do. Rick originally did my boyfriends haircut and did an AMAZING job. My boyfriend now refuses to go anywhere else. Rick cut his hair exactly how he wanted it and even gave him a facial which my boyfriend loved! We received excellent customer service from day one and still continue to be treated with outstanding service each time we go back. The shop is really nicely decorated, very clean and they even offer complimentary refreshments! This barbershop is the best in whittier!!!!! Hands down best barbershop in whittier and surrounding area. I have to get haircut with a straight razor, old school style, lather up the head, hot towel service to get all the hairs standing up, then fresh shaving cream. This is a barbershop, through and through. This is the only barbershop that does old school straight razor cuts and does it the right way. I've been to this barbershop a few times before the first time was wonderful good cut specially since the main owner cut it. The next visit was a Lil off the person who did my hair did an uneven fade and my kids hair they cut too much off top and the line to part his hair was horrible. This last Sunday I went with my son again. My hair was OK. My kids was a disaster I didn't notice right away since I had to shower him to find out that his right side of his head was cut wayyyy to much like a balding spot the guy left he didn't know hot to evenly cut the top he left no hair to comb I swear I regret going I will not return and I regret tipping that man. Came in on superbowl Sunday of all days as I desperately needed a haircut as I was leaving town the next day. After trying a couple other places I stumbled upon 'pit stop'. I walked in and asked if walk ins were accepted, I was greeted by the nice and courteous staff and told of course. After a short wait Rick proceeded to cut my hair perfectly to my exact request without rushing and while paying great attention to detail. I asked for a 0 medium fade and I have to say this is one of the best haircuts I have ever had. I especially enjoyed the straight razor finish. All in all this was a 5 star haircut, be sure to ask for Rick. I will definitely be back after my trip. read more
