Do you wanna try true Turkish food that is prepared by sticking with the original recepies? This is the place to go! We were party of 3 who live.in different states and met in New Jersey. We wanted to give this place a try since we all miss Turkish food. We were greated warmly when we stepped in. We ordered bunch of mezes and some mains. There was nothing we did not like. Actually we were really impressed by how they could taste as good as you could get in Turkey. Our waiter was very kind, professional and friendly. He was very attantive and he did not miss any service steps. Over all ambience makes you feel like you are in a local restaurant in Turkey and i can tell both food and the place were very clean! It was a really good experience and strongly recommended!

$12 for barely 20 grams of grounded intestines, i bought a sandwich first then i bought just plain, this is really disappointing

We came here for my brother's graduation. We did a walk in and we were seated eight away. The presentation of the food was great and we loved the fire that comes with it. So we ordered the mix grill for 5 people and that filled us up. Now for a butcher place , the smell isn't bad at all. The meat (lamb/ beef) tasted okay. Should have been seasoned and marinated more , but the chicken was amazing. My family did like Al Basha a little bit more though. That's the reason for the 4 stars.

Just had my husband's 50th dinner there. The owner accommodated seating for 16 people at last minute. The service was on point, the food was outstanding, 10 out of 10!! As we put in the order for 16 people, we did large family portions. The owner actually came out to tell us he thought we were ordering too much food. We went with his recommendations and he was absolutely right! After downsizing the portions, many of us still had plenty to take home. What other restaurant owner would do that? (At the end, the bill averaged out to about 60per person- absolutely worth every penny!) They allowed us to decorate before hand, including using the walls. A group of 16, not one person left unhappy- with this group, THATS REMARKABLE! Just fyi.. typically I'm an absolute pain in the ass when it comes to dining out, a cooks worst nightmare- I'm so picky. But this food was extremely fresh, seasoned and cook to perfection!!! I can't stop talking about this place! I mean just look at that spread.

Place is considered average in my eyes- staff wasn't terrible but I just wish he was more attentive to our table. The food was meh, nothing out of ordinary. Food needed some more spices - was pretty bland. They had a delicious custard dessert though, so I'd be back for that!

The food here is amazing--that's for sure. The portions are smaller than average, but quality over quantity. Prices are reasonable when judging off the quality of food. We've been here a few times since they are open late. My friends and I will specifically crave their chicken and adana kebabs. Service could be a little more attentive, but the food is really good here--that's the most important part!

Mixed grill for two. Dry taste and skimpy on meats
    Miss P.

We came to Galata based on the recommendation, some reviews were raving and some not so much. So anyway we decided to give it a shot but we're rather disappointed. Less than mediocre ambiance, service below average and not attentive at all. At least 5 servers passed by our table but none stopped. Order wait is longer than usual. We ordered mixed grill for two for $89, however it had a very skimpy selection of prime meats mostly kofta skewers and it was very dry as if it was reheated couple of times. Not recommended.

Best place to have Turkish doner and other kebabs. I tried the lamb cheek and feet soup and it was delicious.

Love when they have the Asiago Everything available - what a treat! Tons of cheese melted on top and it just goes really well with whatever you pair it with. Been going here now and then for years. Not always the easiest spot to get parking (the lot can fill up for sure) and sometimes there's a wait, but the bagels are always super fresh and delicious. Highly recommended if you're in the Clifton area or coming through and need a bite. Just realize there are no tables or anything, so you may have to bring home or eat in your car!

When I was in there, I saw the stuffed bread. After a bit of a conversation about what was in them I opted to get two of them one with broccoli Rabe And one with mixed vegetable vegetables. Boy were we both unhappy with what we got. My boyfriend's father found his braciole and sauce to be so salty it was inedible. He likes food and he is rarely disappointed in an Italian meal. But he said it was so bad that he couldn't even eat it. He ended up throwing it away. I was equally disappointed. Maybe more so. There was no way that vegetable roll was made that day let alone any sooner than two days before. It was so stale. It was hard as a rock. And I hadn't even heated it up. I cut into it right after I brought it home. It also tasted stale. I ended up throwing it away too. Broccoli Rabe roll was a tad better. It wasn't hard as a rock. But it wasn't fresh either. It tasted meh. The only thing I was happy with are the prepackaged taralli. They were imported and were lovely. Go there for the prepackaged imported food products. Don't waste your money on the dicey homemade food experience.

Nestled in an old world-like, half Sicilian half Albanian neighborhood, right across from the Catholic Church of Our Lady of Montevergine, the entire experience took us pleasantly back in time ... salumeria along the wall, aged provolone hanging from rope, and just about every handmade delicacy you could imagine.....and some new ones we hadn't seen before... Then there's .... the bread..... the bread.... Nowhere in America is there bread like this. This is the real deal (NOT the chain supermarkets--you know who you are) that offer supposedly "Italian" or "French" bread with marshmallow softness attributed to all the preservatives and polysorbate 80. No Signore, this bread contains all the goodness of that crispy crunchy exterior with pure angelic cloud interior that melts in your mouth! Bread this good can be eaten as dessert... (if there aren't any cannolis around).... Yeah they got those here too... We couldn't decide, and we were running late so we ended up grabbing a loaf of semolina bread just in from the oven and a container of Sicilian olives (with pits! Don't waste my time with pitted olives that taste like salted cardboard). Could say more but why? Veni e guarda (look and see for yourself)... Highly recommended. We'll be back! Ce' vediamo dopo.

Mr. Anzalone…read more(who turns 70 in June of 2025!) and Vitamia (nipping at his heels with about 60 years of being in the biz). I've made my way here now a few times and for whatever reason - Siri will only get me to the general area but just won't 'accept' Vitamia's specific/actual address. (I know I've 'arrived' when I see the crisscrossing of American and Italian flags at the start-and-end of the blocks denoting a very little Little Italy portion of the town.) And don't get me started on how jacked the entire length of Harrison Avenue is - causing my poor car's suspension and axle to suffer - or how much gas I usually waste when continually circling the block looking for a (legal) parking spot. Crankiness aside... for a small 'basic' deli they sure do pack a punch. An incredible selection of legit (crunchy) breads, a slew of prepared platters and meals in the refrigerated cases, all sorts of goodies hanging from hooks and then there's the freezer with an absurd amount of specialty ravioli, tortellini, tortelloni, mezzelune, cappelletti, gigante, agnolotti, fagottini... Two guys behind the counter (casually speaking Italian to each other) are able to keep up with all the foot traffic (that never seems to let up) and a few guys manning the ovens in the back that are continually refilling the metal bins by the cash register. (With 800 days of Duolingo under my belt I was tempted to try, "È delizioso. Mi dai la ricetta?" when leaving but flaked out and just went with, "Grazie mille!" which... fell flat.) Parking (as mentioned before) stinks. For every item I've tried and loved (stuffed breads, stuffed pastas) there's been a few that were major disappointments, unfortunately. Their pricing is a tad too rough on my wallet. On a prior visit I dropped over $80 and I made a mental not to not do that again. Most recent visit? Over $100. So, yeah... that's not good. (And just in case you give a hoot - Glenn Anzalone is better known by his stage name of 'Danzig'. Now go and crank some early Misfits songs and thank me later!)
