Amazing first experience here with my cat Gary! My boyfriend and I recently moved to Washington and were in need of a vet. We were happy to find a cat only vet and decided it would be the best fit for us. The vet clinic itself is small and gives a laid back, friendly vibe. Adam was at the front desk and was very friendly when bringing us to our room. He spoke very sweetly to our cat and made sure my boyfriend and I had all the information we needed before the vet tech and doctor came in. Rebecca, our vet tech, was also VERY sweet and kind to Gary, talking very gently to him and trying to gain his trust with treats. She took his vitals and made sure she relayed all the information back to us. She also administered Gary's rabies vaccine without him ever noticing. Impressive!! Doctor K checked out Gary and let us know about any potential concerns as well as estimates for certain procedures. She was very knowledgeable, honest, and handled Gary wonderfully. I am grateful. My cat had a cancer scare and needed surgery. Everyone truly was amazing through the whole endeavor. They showed me deep compassion as well as appropriate humor. They treated my cat with exceptional kindness. Some exams required my cat to be in awkward positions and they knew what to do without causing her distress. They provided me ample space to process and fear. They sugar coated nothing while also not amplifying my fears. They explained the process. After the surgery they regularly checked in. When I had concerns about her stitches they reviewed my photos and gave me feedback super fast. Their attentiveness and quick response times ensured I stayed calm. I deeply appreciate them. Dr K and her entire team are amazing. Even reception is great to work with from the moment they answer the phone. Dr. K helped my kitty and quite possibly saved him from going through a bunch of unnecessary procedures, pain, and stress that his old provider wanted him to go through when the fix was something so much more simple. She really does her research and knows what she's talking about when it comes to kitties and their GI health. I feel so grateful for everyone there. They showed so much grace, compassion, kindness, love, patience, and understanding throughout the entire process of figuring out what was going on with my baby. They never made me feel small or and they listened to our concerns and took them into account when diagnosing him. In my experience, very few doctors actually listen to their patients' needs but Dr. K did, she listened to everything we had been through and together we came up with a plan that worked for our family. My boy, who was quickly losing weight, not eating, and unable to go to the rr, has now gained weight, is healthy, is eating, and going to rr every single day. Best cat vet in the east side hands down! Dr. k used to be at another vet place a few years ago and I followed her here which ended up being convenient for me. All of the staff here is respectful and clearly loves cats. It's a joy to see. They've also given me numerous samples for my cats and always spoil them with Churu at the appointment. Parking is difficult because there's a busy Starbucks nearby and several restaurants but they do a good job of staggering appointments and have a vet only parking spot for folks to utilize. After a disappointing experience at a local veterinary hospital, I inquired on a neighbor app as to where we could take our cat. The overwhelming response was Galaxy Cats, and we have been highly impressed with the care from Dr Zygar and staff. They all obviously love cats and it makes for the best atmosphere for our 14 yr old tortie, who by nature, never wants to be put in a carrier and taken anywhere. She was a rescue, and there's definitely some related trauma. So it's critical in her treatment of digestive issues that she's as comfortable as possible at the vet's. She has had excellent, caring treatment, with Dr Z in touch by email and otherwise, every step of the way. Tests have been run, medications have been updated as needed, and the result is that she is better than ever. We're grateful to the entire team for their care - great doctors, techs, and the delightful receptionist. We are certain that Kona is having the best possible care. read more

I've had my fair share of scary vet visits and vets not being confident in what they see or diagnose. The moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted and immediately shown a room and let my kitty out and about. The room was definitely for a cat with a cabinet for them to hide in (which I think also doubled as a litter box), shelves for them to climb on and even some bird background music! The vet assistant came in to do initial assessments but I almost mistaken her as the vet on how confident she was and how calming and warm she was towards my cat and I. Dr. K came and in and connected with my cat with treats initially before asking about the situation. She was empathetic, listened to what my concerns were and did a check up. I really liked how she didn't immediately jump into "let's load this cat up with all kinds of antibiotics" and talk about different options. I also asked her about different supplements that might help my cat's condition and she took the time to look at them and give her professional opinion. Our vet tech Marcy was lovely with our cats, they were due for vaccines and she spoke so sweetly to them and soothed them throughout the process. I brought in my cat because he was vomiting and wasn't acting like himself. All of the staff I worked with were so good with him. They explained everything they were going to do beforehand and made sure to answer any of the questions I had. Turns out he needed emergency surgery and they called around to hospitals they worked with to check on their availability. I appreciate them so much for going above and beyond. I didn't have a primary vet, but will be taking both of my cats here for checkups from now on. read more

At my previous Vet my cat was not comfortable at all. The examinations felt rushed, they didn't handle him very well, and he would always be very moody and unhappy at our previous Vet. I've never taken my cat to a cats only Veterinary office so I decided to try it out in hopes that my cat would be more comfortable with the smells, environment, and people there. From the moment we walked in I really appreciated how nice and friendly everyone was at Galaxy Cats. A smile and a laugh goes a long way when it comes to greeting owners and their cats. Not only was my cat extremely nervous, but I was nervous for him! The examination rooms are also very cat friendly with toys, treats, and decor that cats could climb in and over. I noticed an air freshener that was cat-oriented too. Everyone took care of him really well and they addressed all my concerns and requests. Nothing about the examination felt rushed either. Also, I could tell my cat was WAY more comfortable in their hands. I appreciate that they take COVID seriously over there as well by requiring masks. My cat had a uti that was treated, but didn't get better, so I was given more antibiotic, which also didn't work. The doctor then wanted to have an ultrasound done, but they didn't have equipment in their office for that. Instead of referring me to some place that could do an ultrasound, I was told we would have to wait 12 days until the person came around to do those. I refused to wait that long and found an animal hospital open 7 days a week and took my kitty there. I was told her bloodwork was "off the charts", and there was nothing they could do for her, so my kitty is gone and I'm heart broken. All the caring and kindness in the world didn't save my precious kitty. read more

I had a great experience last week at Galaxy Cats. Everybody from the receptionist, to the techs, and Dr. Kjellberg were excellent to me and my 12yr old cat with a bad infection. I have been to vets that only saw cats before, and I was curious if it might be more expensive since they are a specialist. However, I was very happy with the bill, AND they even told me I could wait a little longer for a non-urgent matter that another place had told me I should do now. I think that's incredible that I get a feline specialist at good rates, AND honesty that saves me money. I'm a fan for life! read more

Your company will not survive in this nice community with clinics like yours that appear to have no monitoring what so ever. You lied and told US Bank you gave us pricing that is not so. You held our cat hostage until you made us pay a bill for nearly $600.00 or a cat that was not ill. You lie and say we have been fired from other vet clinics which is untrue. Your behavior Katherine is unprofessional, you techs are untrained and you are taking financial advantage of anyone you can because you need to. Each and every time we go by your office, there is no one there, no cats. This does not give you the right to take advantage of good paying customers because you feel you can. We will be so delighted when you go out of business and stop complaining to Yelp to remove negative comments about your business that are well deserved. I cannot recommend Dr. Kristen Kjellberg enough. She is one of the finest veterinarians you will ever meet, but she is also a truly caring person. We came to Dr. K after our kitten had surgery at another local veterinary hospital. Our kitten was having issues and the other vet didn't seem to care. Dr. K saw her immediately and helped guide us to recovery. We are so lucky in Newcastle to have such a talented and extraordinary vet. read more

I am so, so happy I live right around the corner from Galaxy Cats. My cat was their first patient when they opened! Dr. Kjellberg is top notch and truly loves her patients. My cat is VERY VERY stressed at the vet, but the last time we went - she was a little more relaxed than the first time we went and I attribute that to the way the entire clinic is for cats and the way the staff and the Doctor treat Penny.
