There are two Peace of the Past locations here in Galena. While the shops are both fun to look…read morearound in I can sum up my visit in one word... Overpriced! Lots of books... I'm more of a hard goods collector so right off the bat I wasn't impressed. The South location has a large collection of vintage fire extinguishers. Somthing I love to look at and own a couple of. Then I looked at their prices... WAY over market price for an item I am very informed on. Maybe It's a personal collection they don't really want to sell? I found a lot of the hard good items like this... I won't discourage you from stopping in. You might come across that one of a kind treasure you are looking for and you are willing to pay whatever it takes to get it home... I would encourage you to get off of Main St. and find some of the other off the beaten patch antique and thrift shops the Galena area has to offer. If you want my terribly honest opinion... Head to Missouri. The antique malls and shops in the Springfield, Ozark, and Branson area are second to none! And they don't charge you champagne prices for their beer selection...

My sister and I spent a day in Galena shopping and this was our favorite store. It offers a wide variety of clothing to suit the tastes of most women. It had some things for younger women, but not juniors. I liked that the styles were fresh and didn't seem for just 'older' women. The woman that was working that day really knew the merchandise and was able to help us try things we ended up loving, but wouldn't have picked out on our own. Make sure you spend time in here when you shop Galena!!

They didn't have the size I was hoping for, but I was told that they order just about weekly and will order the size needed, with shipping out of town being about $8. Not a bad deal so I'll have to keep it in mind. Ashley is the store clerk who helped me, and she was fantastic. They are lucky to have her here.
