I saw an announcement for the grand opening of this furniture store in Mission Valley. I called and expressed my interest in buying a vintage looking couch in a bright raspberry-ish color. I know; that seemed like a stretch for the furniture stores here in SD. Paul assured me that his coworker Sandi had experience in both retro design and color, and that he'd be happy to send her over to my home for a consult. He told me that there was a fee for the service, but it would be then applied to anything that I purchased. When I told him that would be fine if I could be guaranteed of said design and color options, he said he'd be happy to send her over without a fee. That was a nice first impression! Soon thereafter, bright and cheery and ever so knowledgeable Sandi arrived with a big smile that matched her positive attitude. She measured, looked at the current state of my living room for color, texture and style, as well as asked me for color/style ideas. After providing her with those things, we made an appointment for me to go to the showroom. In the next couple of days-- even before my appointment, she had sent me a couple of sofa shape options as well as a spot on fabric color. Oh my goodness-- a miracle worker! At my meeting with her in the store, she had me test out the sofas for cushion level comfort and depth. Then, it was easier to narrow down my choices. I was there for a couple of hours. I was thrilled that we were pretty much on the same page about what would work-- as well as our collective philosophy of "thinking outside the box". Accordingly, we came up with a fabulous design-- incorporating design elements from 3 different sofas. As if that wasn't enough, the next day she came over-- again, to fine tune both the shape and dimensions, to assure that it would work wonderfully in my home. My new raspberry colored retri couch will arrive any day now, and I am dying to see it! I can't say enough about Sandi and her level of customized customer service---such an anomaly here in San Diego. Please go visit them at their Mission Valley locale-- and tell them that I sent you. The shop is fairly small (when they opened), but I believe now it's a little bit bigger as they moved a few offices down...I think? Anyway check them out on social media and their website as they run events once a month. It's a great shop! Instead of a professional customer service response, I was told that my email was a "threat" and that I should "not order from us again." The company refunded the purchase and dismissed my concerns rather than addressing the underlying issue. The amount of the order was only $10.99, but that's not the point. Good customer service isn't measured by the dollar amount of the transaction. Every customer deserves respectful communication and products that meet reasonable quality expectations. The combination of poor product quality, failure to deliver the promised replacement parts, and an unnecessarily hostile response left me very disappointed. Being a house plant lover, I had to check it out. The pots and plant holders all looked so high quality and presented beautifully, with a modern styling. I love the wooden stands! The owner, Jenn, came out and chatted with me and helped me out with a purchase. She told me that the pots are made from spun aluminum which is a unique but sturdy material for pots; they look clean and the shape emulates ceramic vessels. I also love that there is a drainage hole so you can put the plant directly inside the vessel! I got a large snow pot ($14) and a philodendron to go inside it ($12). My total order ended up being $28 after tax, which is a great price. They have a lot of lovely options for planters, so I highly recommend coming here if you or someone you know is a plant lover.
