This is for the Mission Valley Store. I am so impressed with this furniture store. Co managers Paul and Sandi are highly professional and articulate/kind communicators. I saw an announcement for the grand opening of this furniture store in Mission Valley. I called and expressed my interest in buying a vintage looking couch in a bright raspberry-ish color. I know; that seemed like a stretch for the furniture stores here in SD. Paul assured me that his coworker Sandi had experience in both retro design and color, and that he'd be happy to send her over to my home for a consult. He told me that there was a fee for the service, but it would be then applied to anything that I purchased. When I told him that would be fine if I could be guaranteed of said design and color options, he said he'd be happy to send her over without a fee. That was a nice first impression! Soon thereafter, bright and cheery and ever so knowledgeable Sandi arrived with a big smile that matched her positive attitude. She measured, looked at the current state of my living room for color, texture and style, as well as asked me for color/style ideas. After providing her with those things, we made an appointment for me to go to the showroom. In the next couple of days-- even before my appointment, she had sent me a couple of sofa shape options as well as a spot on fabric color. Oh my goodness-- a miracle worker! At my meeting with her in the store, she had me test out the sofas for cushion level comfort and depth. Then, it was easier to narrow down my choices. I was there for a couple of hours. I was thrilled that we were pretty much on the same page about what would work-- as well as our collective philosophy of "thinking outside the box". Accordingly, we came up with a fabulous design-- incorporating design elements from 3 different sofas. As if that wasn't enough, the next day she came over-- again, to fine tune both the shape and dimensions, to assure that it would work wonderfully in my home. My new raspberry colored retri couch will arrive any day now, and I am dying to see it! I can't say enough about Sandi and her level of customized customer service---such an anomaly here in San Diego. Please go visit them at their Mission Valley locale-- and tell them that I sent you. I called about a set that was available to purchase online, I was put on hold multiple times then told it wasn't available but a similar set was. I tried to look up the similar set on their website, but it didn't show up. The lady snapped me that it was and then hung up. I did this search online and came across GreatHouse's website where they had what I was looking for and it was even on sale! I live in Ohio and this store is located in California but despite not being physically present, I felt I received great service from salesperson Katy and the owner Paul. all I had to do was make a call to their location to make an inquiry and from that point on they provided great service. This place has some of the worse customer service I've ever had to deal with. It's as if they are in the business of NOT making sales. Trying to get any information from their online chat feature or email is a disaster. They take days to respond to correspondence, don't follow up with what information you've sent them, and do not send you the available options. They say everything can be customized, say things are available and then 2 weeks later, oops, sorry it's not available in that style. The website needs a complete overhaul. Maybe if you posted your available fabrics, fill, and sofa arrangements online like every other furniture store, we wouldn't have to deal with sales associates who apparently have trouble providing this basic information. read more

The reason they get 2 stars instead of one is because the couch is comfortable (damaged but comfortable) and our initial sales rep was helpful. I've been waiting literally over a year hoping not to have to write this review but here we are. Every single piece has had an issue or damage. We started with this company in July 2022. Delivery was supposed to be November. Then December. Then January. It takes 3 emails to get one reply from Paul. Thus is every time. He never reaches out to us first to tell us where things are at. Then February (7 months later) it was finally here. but they had a car accident on the way. When the rescheduled it was damaged. I had to fight with the owner for a discount because I didn't feel I should pay full price for damaged merchandise. Finally got a small discount. The other items ordered have also had issues and I still can't get a date. I got this response a week ago (over a year past the sale date and 4 months after delivery): I do not feel comfortable giving you a "concrete" date as there are just too many variables out of our control (transit time) and I do not want to be wrong by guessing. I feel confident telling you that all of these issue will be resolved in August. Here we are in August and no follow up yet again. Their furniture isn't cheap but we were willing to make the investment thinking we would get quality and superior customer service. I don't recommend doing business with this company if customer service is important to you. I've had to babysit this thing for over a year. Like others have said in their reviews, once they have your money, you're an afterthought. read more

I love my new sectional! After moving into our new place 2 years ago, we realized we could accommodate a larger seating arrangement and decided to upgrade. We had purchased our original sectional perhaps 7 years back-- from Greathouse back when they were called OneStop! It had withstood the test of time and endured our "couch potato" lifestyle so I knew I had to go back to Greathouse for the great quality. We ordered the Dexter sectional un-seen (more like un-sat, since we can see a picture of it but not sit on it), since there was no floor model. I had no reservations doing so because I was confident I would get a quality product! Greathouse handled our customization requests like a champ-- we removed nailheads, split up cushions, changed cushion density etc. All of these were available along with the usual customization of fabric (they have a mountain of fabric swatch books) and wood stain choices. I'm updating my review after having our custom sectional for the past 8 or so months. Let me start by saying my initial experience with Greathouse was wonderful, however after having our sofa now for quite some time and seeing the quality of it I'm highly disappointed. This sofa will not last more then 3 years tops and I paid over $6,000 for this custom piece. Let me state this does NOT INCLUDE A WARRANTY! The quality was not was as expected and the filling is a nightmare!! There are constant wrinkles in it, the stuffing goes astray constantly! I baby this sofa as much as possible and constantly "fluff" the cushions, it's a high maintenance, low quality sofa. When I called Greathouse about this issue the reply I got: "The cushions have a Polycloud (feather) fill, given the size of them (much bigger than a regular size cushion) this would appear to be normal. This is inherent with a cushion of this size. This does not mean the cushions will break down any quicker, nor will it compromise the integrity of them lasting long term. As with any cushion this size, you will have to fluff and rotate them. " This is my 3rd custom sofa in my lifetime and I have never had any issue of this sort or a reply like this. If this was stated to us prior to purchase I would have NEVER got a high maintenance, low end sectional like this. The integrity is compromised and they are slowly breaking down, however there is no warranty so I am out $6,000. The reality is I could of saved several thousand by purchasing a normal sofa of equal quality (with a warranty) from Living Spaces. Sadly we won't be purchasing anything else from Greatnhouse again. * Let me add we are a family of 2 and 1 teen daughter. This is not a highly used piece of furniture for it to look the way it does. We've purchased numerous pieces from Greathouse over the years from outdoor furniture to a sofa. We've had wonderful customer service and their prices are very reasonable. Last year we ordered several items and were told the end table was the only item with a late delivery date (Feb. 2022). We accepted it because we loved the piece. February turned into April, then turned into June (all due to the supply chain). In August, they offered for me to go into their showroom to look at the floor sample as they still could not get delivery on our end table. I have to say, Paul gave us a deal on the floor sample which we could not pass up and overall it was in perfect condition. We will continue to turn to Greathouse for our furniture needs. read more

Working with the owner Paul Rees is a truly 5-star experience. He's proud of his products and works hard to help you find exactly what you need. If I were writing this review about patio furniture, it would be a 5-star rating. However, I decided to take advantage of their semi-custom made sofas and sectionals. These are manufactured by Flores Design in LA. The rating and the rest of the review is really more about them than Greathouse. Paul was was great about helping me find the right sofa design in their catalog - including sitting on similar pieces (since he can only stock 10% of what the factory offers). I picked a model and fabric and then made the critical mistake - I asked to customize the back cushions. You might think that specifying a different foam density and asking for them to be 1" thicker would be rather trivial, but you'd be wrong. They managed to do both things, but it seemed like it took them out of their normal cookie-cutter routine. When I received the sofa, it was impossible to arrange the seat and back cushions in a way that gaps between adjacent ones formed straight vertical lines. I sent Paul photos and we talked about it at length. He agreed to send it back to the factory for a rework at no charge. Since they were making new back cushions, I asked that they also be 3" shorter. This was critical mistake #2. Apparently, that request confused the factory and they shortened the cushions, but did not change the widths to match the seat cushions. More photos and discussion followed and back the sectional went to the factory again. Third time was the charm as I found a couple of configurations where the cushions aligned pretty well. (However, I still have one seat cushion that is slightly smaller than the rest and one that is definitely softer than the rest and that wrinkles easily as the fabric isn't tight enough.) I want to say that I wouldn't hesitate to do business with Paul Rees again as his integrity as a business owner is impeccable. However, I would be very cautious about ordering a sofa through Flores Design unless I was ordering it 100% stock and it would be preferable to see an example locally first. read more

This place is horrible when it comes to service.. no follow up and will do anything to rush you off the phone. Once they have your down payment it is pretty much down hill from there.. started with waiting 3 weeks to get a sample color from their warehouse since the sample in their book didn't match the floor color for the sofa we were buying. Kevin ( our salesperson) said he would get one rushed.. but we needed to put our deposit in to take advantage of a sale so that was fine but now they have our money and an order and that's when Kevin pretty much went MIA. After calling several times looking for updates the sample finally came in. Then we had to go down to the store to complete the order.. painful. So now we wait for the sofa to be delivered.. no updates on timing or follow up but 7 weeks later we got a call to have our couch delivered. Delivery guys were great.. nice guys and helped get everything set up. When they unwrapped it and we were checking everything out I noticed a scuff on one of the pillows. The driver was cool and called Paul, the owner, and let him know. He took pics and sent it in and Paul said he would look at it and get back to us with the next steps. The driver said they will most likely send someone out to clean which is ridiculous considering it was just delivered and clearly happened at the warehouse. The driver commented on what a pain it is to deal with them.. 2 weeks later we have not heard back from Paul. Called and he is not in today but was promised we would get a call back.. shocking the owner doesn't lead by example and clearly is reflected by the associates there.. figure it out people. Take care of your clients.. follow up.. simple. Would never buy anything from this place again.. so frustrated we didn't stick with Skylar's in Carlsbad. My initial ordering experience wasn't bad but I did get juggled around between people quote a bit which was disappointing. After receiving my custom sofa I can't express how disappointed I was. The quality is beyond poor and the structure itself is not sturdy. Oh and did I mention there NO warranty! Yep NO WARRANTY! After complaining and expressing my disappointment to my sales associate all I got back was basically a "too bad-your stuck with it" attitude. Totally sucks that they did not live up to what they sell. And they are ALL about TAKING YOUR MONEY AND THEN laughing in your face. She was extremely personable, knowledgeable, and patient with me as I not only perused the furniture in their store, but looked through their catalog and hundreds of fabric choices as well. She allowed me to take many different fabric samples home so I could look at them in the lighting of my own home. I won't ever go here again. The service in the store was great . . . until we paid. We spent almost 4,000 on a couch and two chairs. They said 3-4 weeks. They showed up six weeks later. It was the only delivery date available they said. Ok, not a huge deal. Delivery guy looks shocked as he takes stuff out of the packaging. The legs aren't attached. He says they are supposed to come fully assembled. Soon it becomes apparent why it wasn't. When he puts the legs on, one of the legs of the couch doesn't touch the ground. One of the legs on the chair is at an angle different from the rest. I work in manufacturing; this is a total hack job. The couch is nice but . . . We called. They said they are waiting to order replacement parts. It's been 8 weeks since delivery of defective furniture. Still waiting. Greathouse: thanks for going to bat for your customers! read more

I am not very happy that I feel compelled to write this review. Last year I purchased a sectional sofa for my family room and was very happy with the furniture and the service. With that in mind, I returned to Greathouse to purchase a dining room table and a media center that I had seen there when I purchased the sofa. I think the furniture is great .... the service is another story. Apparently, the fact that I live 2 hours away makes delivering my furniture a challenge for Greathouse. They don't seem to have that part of their business in good working order. I have waited almost two months for delivery because of their desire to combine my delivery with others in the area. I have checked in periodically to find out the status and shared with David that I needed my dining room table by March 26th for a dinner party. I was told that I would have it. Two days ago when I had not received a call to schedule delivery, I sent David an email. After waiting several hours without a response, I called David and was asked to leave a message. An hour later I received an email response (not a phone call ...... guess he was afraid) telling me that they would not be delivering my table for at least another 10 days. So, now I am left without a table for my dinner party AND a salesperson who does not have the decency to call me and give me a heads up that they will not be meeting the agreed upon delivery date ... and all because of the distance I live from the store! I never quibbled about delivery costs and have been VERY patient waiting for my furniture. When I finally spoke to David I did not find him to be at all sorry nor did I feel like an effort was made to get the furniture to me in the time that was promised. My only solution was to have my husband rent a trailer to pick up the furniture. Had I known this was where we would be ... I could have done this over a month ago! While I enjoyed shopping at this store and am happy with what I have purchased, I will not be shopping there again. read more

We have purchased two sectionals in 11 years from them and not only do they stand behind their furniture but their furniture holds up amazingly well. My experience working with Michael and Paul was beyond exceptional. I feel that there are many furniture companies that sell crappy, over priced furniture and I can definitely say Greathouse isn't one of them. A couple of years ago I received an advertisement for Greathouse, they had the exact tufted couch that I was looking for. I went in to explore the showroom, the gal who I worked with was amazing...I can't recall her name off hand however lets just say...she could be my cousin, or aunt ;O) She was not "sales y or pushy" at all. I was going to settle on my usual vanilla color but she mentioned that there was a lovely couple who ordered the deep powdered blue color that would look amaz in my living room. Fast forwarding the tape...something happened to one of the buttons on my tufted couch a couple of weeks ago... my couch and matching chair were by no means cheap. I called Greathouse and they gave me Paulie's e-mail address. Paulie immediately arranged for a pick up and deliver of a loaner couch. The delivery guys were so fast, efficient, and professional.
