I was paralyzed 3&1/2 years ago BUUUUUT I'm learning to walk again and no one has experience treating a case like mine. I've been on every mental health drug there is and I'm suffering from horrible pain. I've had 30 screws put into my back, I'm missing 4 vertebrae but got a 5" titanium block where the vertebrae USED TO BE oh and the twpo 20" rods, two mounts and 8 more screws don't qualify me for pain management. I was hassled every time I requested a referral for pain management. last time I was asked "what about all the other referrals?" they didn't take my insurance is the answer but I'm the jerk for getting frustrated with all the BS. I disagreed that I needed mental health support because this all started in 2017 and EVERY DOCTOR HAS NO EXPERIENCE WITH A CASE LIKE MINE BUT KNEW MORE THAN ME ABOUT WHAT I WAS FEELING WEATHER THIS PRACTICE OR PAIN MANAGEMENT. As we were discussing my past experiences that made me into the person I was, we discovered that growing up with divorced parents with addiction that the best form of treatment would be a program called ACOA (Adult Children of Alcoholics). As we worked through the program I was able to learn and love my parents for who they were/are as they were doing the best job they could, and not my thoughts on who they should have been. What a freeing feeling to discover as I let go of my expectation of them and realized they are human too. Every session Joe would greet me with positive compliments and every time I would just shrug it off as not significant until I started to believe that I am worth more than what I thought of myself. I learned to love my messed up self and my confidence boosted and I started focusing on the positive things in my life and not the negative. It's been about 2 years since we last met and the lessons I learned through the ACOA program and his help in guiding me to love myself has continued to grow. Joe is a very genuine person and wants to help everyone whom he comes in contact with. I will be forever greatfull for the guidance that he provided me to help me live a much better and fulfilling life. Thank you Joe.

Fortunately I had a capable, kind, and engaging counselor throughout this process and I was able to live my life between sessions, then report my progress and experiences in our group sessions. I thoroughly enjoyed the process and my freedom to take my recovery into my own hands and pursue the paths that make the most sense to me. I received a great deal of encouragement as well as a good amount of constructive activities to work on / present to my peers. The office staff and case manager were simply wonderful to work with, and when I successfully graduated from the Aftercare program, they sent me off with a warm goodbye and lots of encouragement. They're certainly doing something right over there and truth be told, I almost miss the process. Very empowering and a very helpful step in my overall recovery! I still continue to do what works for me in a program of my choice, am flourishing in my personal and professional life, and I can't appreciate enough the fact that I was given room to grow without needing permission to do so, or to follow prescriptive pathways in my recovery. He takes his time with you, he listens to your concerns and he maps out which direction is needed to be taken to help solve the issue. I have personally been seeing him for 11 years and would not want to go anywhere else for my Primary Care. Dr. Facemyer is really laid back/cool and easy to get along with. The office/waiting room is always very clean and the exam rooms are always super clean. The nurses (Laurie & Maureen) are awesome! They treat you like you are family .. they will laugh, joke and talk with you like they've known you forever. I think that they mix perfectly with Dr. Facemyer and really elevate your visit to a whole different level. They can usually fit you into any day needed if things change with your schedule or if something pops up before your next scheduled visit Dr Facemyer's office is also in a great location! Located in Austintown next to the Giant Eagle "Get Go" gas station with both on and off ramps leading to which ever direction you are coming or going makes it a simple drive! The parking lot is safe and provides plenty of parking spaces. I felt the need to write this quick review because I was seeing a few other reviews about the 'wait time' .. As I said in my opening paragraph, you may wait a little longer than you would at other doctors offices, but to me, I would rather wait a bit and be able to spend time talking with my Doctor than quickly being rushed in and having 2 minutes to speak to my doctor. Besides, good things come to those who wait :) I'd give Dr. Facemyer & his Nurses/Staff a 10 star review if I was able to, but, they definitely get 5 stars from me! If Dr. Facemyer or anyone from the office reads this, Keep up the excellent work, You ARE making a difference in peoples lives & health.
