Didn't make an appointment? Waiting at the gate? CALL THE PHONE NUMBER!…read more We almost missed out on this gem because the gate was closed and we didn't make an appointment. Was about to drive on... But I decided to call and Farmer John was more than accommodating! It's a farm meets vineyard meets winery. Anyways, we called and Farmer John came and opened the gate for our two cars. We came in and parked next to the barn. He gave us the choice of tasting inside or outside - we chose outside. After the 15 minutes he needed to get ready, he rolled out with all the glasses and bottles required for a tasting for 5 adults. Most of the wines are fruit forward but we all really enjoyed that about them. They well blended. John also explained that he's not pressured to put out wines that he doesn't feel meet his standard. This is a passion for him. Great conversations followed. The kids all played around the grounds and even went to go meet the farm animals! We all bought 2 bottles (or more) each to cover our tasting. It was great enjoying this time and the conversations surrounded by green grass and a wonderful farm setting. Definitely will be coming back!

There was an additional fire ring with chairs around it also. The barn is beautiful yet rustic with real bathrooms inside. Also a full kitchen w commercial ice maker for use if you have an event there. I was pleasantly surprised with this place. Loved it and would definitely go back

I'm not a big wine fan so usually I'll do the slurp thing to taste the notes or take a sip or two and then pass my glass off to my husband, rather than dumping it. I've been to umpteen wineries around California, the US and internationally. This winery gives, hands down, the stingiest pours I've ever experienced. I could maybe get two sips out of a pour. And yet this tasting was $15 for 4 wines, but if you're a party of 6 or more, the fee for the same tasting goes up to $20 per person! Since when does pouring maybe a half ounce into more glasses warrant everyone in the party being charged $5 more bucks a piece? It feels stingy. I went to 4 wineries in the same weekend I visited Crū. J. Lohr in Paso charges $20 per person for 6 generous pours and a free pencil with herb seeds to plant at home. Eberle Winery in Paso does free tastings and yet have generous pours, free bottled water and a free tour of the underground storage facility. Quady in Madera charges $5 per person for a tasting and not only were the pours generous, we tried 7 wines, got to double back on our favorites before we ordered a half case. The server was nice and personable. I have no complaints about her. Overall it doesn't feel like a fun wine tasting experience when it seems like they're rationing their wine. While not the end of the world, there isn't much of a view for the outdoor patio because the tasting room patio is between the building and a fence with a road on the other side. If you're wanting to see vineyards while you sip, this isn't the spot for you. There was also a couple with a toddler at a table - with an iPad, playing a video outloud without headphones - while the parents were wine tasting inside, so just know that kids are allowed if that matters to you. The road leading to the winery is a one lane road in an extremely rural area. My sister lives in PML (Pine Mountain Lake) and discovered this wine recently and has been raving! She ordered a case of their wine and off we were to pick it up! The winery is currently not open for regular wine tasting visits. You can order online and pick up the wine. It is a modest winery set back up on a hill. It is a gorgeously isolated location. The winery has a philosophy of less is more. The wines are available for retail at approximately 13 retail locations in the sierra foothill community. Look on their website for the list! They support local charitable organizations in the surrounding rural communitites. Yes, I researched this winery on their website. The wine is that good! The Tannat is amazing! I am a beer snob, but not necessarily a wine snob. But, I do know good wine when I taste it! Order 6 plus bottles and you get a deal! Whoop! If you are going to visit Yosemite, order online and come here for a case or two of wine. You will NOT regret it! Leave yourself plenty of time to drive here. It is very rural and deserves to be driven slow and careful. Enjoy the ride! Cheers, Happy Yelping!
