With our baby shower quickly approaching we decided to reach out to a few possible venue options. We initially emailed San Joaquin with our estimated guest count and preferred dates. We heard back within a timely manner and we decided to check out the space in person before officially committing. Once my husband and I went in person we knew that it was the perfect venue as it was open and inviting. Not to mention the staff was fantastic and made us feel so welcome! I also appreciated their quick communication. The day of the event was just perfect! Their staff was so helpful and accommodating. You can tell our guests really enjoyed themselves especially having a host bar. Our event was in the spring, so even if there was a risk of rain having a covered heated patio space gave us peace of mind. Such an amazing experience! 10/10 Joel made our time here so fun. We came to celebrate my friend's birthday and we loved it. Didn't even know a charcuterie was included and it was delicious. They really put so much effort to make sure we had a great time, we even got a tour of the winery which was really nice. Great venue for parties or tastings. They have quite a few varieties of wines, dry reds and whites with many sweet and fruity wine options. Beautiful grounds and tasting room. We came in for a tasting and there was a group setting up for a private party which is great to get a sense of the size for large parties. We stopped by San Joaquin after visiting another winery in the area and before heading to San Francisco for a flight back home. We arrived right before they were supposed to open, but even at opening time, they did not open their doors right away - pulling on doors, knocking, and calling did not do anything. What we got: Tempting Sweets Flight: Peach Passion - a good peach wine, but we've had better. My husband liked this one more than the mango. Mango Mambo - a good mango wine, but I actually liked this one more than the peach. Pomegranate Sangria - I liked this one okay on it's own. Red Moscato - Didn't really care for this one. Blackberry - I server threw this one in for us, and it was a pretty good blackberry wine. Tasters Choice Flight: Brut Blanc De Blanc - This was okay, but my favorite of the sparkling wines. Sparkling Moscato - Didn't really care for this one. Brut Rose - Didn't really care for this one. White Moscato - Didn't really care for this one. Mambo/Pomegranate Blend - our server mentioned that they blend this one often, so I asked for this to be my last choice. This was my favorite of the day, really enjoyed this blend as they worked well together. As we were flying back with only carry on luggage, I asked about shipping. They do ship, but unfortunately the shipping charge was just too much for just wanting to purchase two bottles (mango and pomegranate). I know shipping wine is quite costly, but the other winery we went to charged only half as much, so that is where we purchased all of our wine from. Overall, we enjoyed the fruit wines, and I was disappointed in the moscato wines - we have had much better. The experience was okay - great server who poured generously, mediocre to good (not great) wines, and the environment was just lacking. read more

All of the wines we tasted were excellent, and a few like the Moody Press Red Blend, the Moody Press Zin, the Sparkling Moscato and Katelyn Rose are outstanding! The folks who work there could not be nicer or more knowledgeable about the wine. They're very patient, and honestly proud of their wine (with good reason!). The tasting room is utterly gorgeous, and there is plenty of room for the seasonal tasting events that cover the calendar. There are often events that include food, outside vendors and lots of wine. Be sure to get on the mailing list! The location is also a gorgeous venue, and there are private parties, weddings and live bands throughout the year. Planning an event? Call these folks first! Enjoyed having our reception daytime on a Sunday (very cheap $500 to rent the space) Management changed halfway to our wedding day; however, Jamie (day-of wedding coordinator through winery) helped us sort out any issues or questions we had leading up to the day. Winery is best for a wedding reception if you're on a budget. My husband and I had our actual ceremony elopement in Yosemite a few days before the reception (reception for our larger family). No ceremony at winery, just reception from 12-4pm. Perfect space for 80-100 people. Loved the simplicity of the venue and the way things turned out for the most part. read more

San Joaquin Winery has a handful of red wines, which is my forte. We ended up buying their Merlot which was very unique. It's notes were more that of a Cab or Zin or a blend of the two. I'm not sure if our host was the regular person behind the bar because he seemed rushed. He would be ready to pour our next tasting before we had finished the previous wine forcing us to dump out our glass or chug. Also when asking for a bucket to dump he said they didn't have one, although I could clearly see one behind the bar. Don't get me wrong, the host was very pleasant, just not the regular person I think. He said he was learning to be one of the wine makers, therefore he did have knowledge of the wines. read more

Thank you San Joaquin Winery for hosting the annual participants dinner before the Ronald McDonald House Sporting Clay's Event on Saturday! The winery grounds and indoor event center are beautiful and an excellent choice for the annual event. There is plenty of parking and shade trees to block the afternoon sun. Volunteering at the event means that we cannot partake in the wine drinking and such, but nonetheless, we enjoyed an excellent catered meal and time to socialize. read more

You can't beat the price here, 5 dollars for 4 tastings. You can do 4 reds, 4 whites, or 4 desserts. The pours are super generous (honestly, they provide a pour bucket and you may consider using it!) and the servers are extremely nice. The day we went, I think two other servers called out sick, so it was only one person handling the entire room. While this is likely a one-off slower service, the server was extremely nice despite being in such a stressful situation; major props to them. You will definitely get buzzed or drunk here. The dessert wines were very good, but a bit too sweet for me. I particularly liked the pomegranate dessert wine. As for the quality of the wine itself, I don't know much about wine. It isn't my favorite wine, but for the price, well worth it. read more

To whom this may concern. DEE SANCHEZ THE venue manager / coordinator. VERY rude and condescending person. I wouldn't even talk to my own dog the way she was speaking to my family. Very unprofessional women and threatening family members at 5:00pm that she would shut everything down by 8:00. Sure enough everything was shut down by 9:00. From the moment i walked in you can tell she didn't want to be there. very rude lady from the start. Never have I been to a wedding where I felt threaten and mistreated. Talk about ruining someone's special day. As a coordinator you should be there for the bride and family and have their best interests. Instead she did the exact opposite of that. Also She's only been with the company since December. Maybe that has a lot to do with it. read more

What a beautiful venue! My fiancé and I are so glad we had our wedding here. It was so romantic we didn't want our special day to ever end. It wouldn't have been possible without the help of Robia. She was simply fantastic. Easy to contact, very flexible, and really sweet. She helped us plan and arrange our wedding and also gave us great recommendations of vendors. The bridal suite is very cute, the bar gives a really cozy feeling, and the outside look wonderful at night. Let's not forget the wine. It was delicious! I attended a wedding yesterday at San Joaquin Winery and the venue is beautiful and the facility is well taken care of. Only positive thing I have to say. First, security was doing the absolute most by checking purses, cars, and underneath the tables. I'm not sure why this was necessary but it made guests including myself feel uncomfortable. Second, my family members were accused of underage drinking. There was none. I am of legal drinking age and I started to drink wine without being properly ID'd. This was around 4:30, I was then asked about my age at 7 at night and I still didn't have to show my ID. The underage drinking was brought up because of children pouring SODAS into the wine glasses. Third, the event coordinator was extremely rude and pushy. She made guests and staff members feel uncomfortable. She shut down the party due to an "overly intoxicated" person....he wasn't. He wasn't causing any problems at all he was drinking and dancing. That's it. It was shut down by 9:30 because of her. It's unfortunate my cousin's special day was ruined by someone they had trusted. Last thing, security wanted to pat down my cousin who is a minor because she went to the parking lot to go change into comfortable shoes. She wasn't drinking at all, there is no reason for her to be pat down. Although I was looking forward to this wedding, it's extremely unfortunate that the staff acted this way. My review is based on a wedding that happened the fall of 2019. Wedding venue is beautiful, staff is horrible. I also left a review on google reviews where they responded and said there was no event around the time I left a review to try to play it off as if it wasn't them. Not only did they make guest and wedding party night a mess with being absolutely down right rude. The next day when we picked up our stuff the people having an event knew all about us, keep it professional and to yourself how you felt about your guest from the night before. We visited San Joaquin Winery's tasting room for my mom's birthday. I called 2 weeks in advance and spoke to a really nice lady on the phone. She was super helpful with all the questions I had regarding our tasting. I explained to her that it was my mom's special day, and that she had never been wine tasting. We made some special accommodations for my disabled mom, and I asked if I could bring in picnic supplies to have a picnic on the their beautiful grounds. She said, absolutely! She took down my name and number and said "we look forward to having you guys". We drive from Fresno out there to the winery, and when we pulled up there were a ton of staff there setting up for what looked like a weeding. They were mowing the grounds, setting up tables chairs and centerpieces. We went in and told the girl at the counter that we were there to do a tasting. She looked at us a bit weird and said "okay"!. I mentioned that I had called ahead and told them we were going to be there and that they had special accommodations for us. She then again looked at us like she did not know what we were talking about. We sat down for our tasting, the yound lady brought out several bottles for us to taste. The young lady was not very talkative, nor very friendly. She seemed like she was rushing us to do our tasting and leave. She didnt explain any of the wines nor give us time to enjoy it. She stood there the whole time awkwardly, making us feel like we didn't belong there. I explaoned to her that i was the driver, and would like a dump bucket she didnt seem very happy about that either. When we were done tasting I told my mom, let's just go and have our picnic somewhere else! We got up and left. I have been to this winery several times and have always had such a great experience, but not this time. Definitely ruined the whole "wine tasting" experience for my mom. read more

We had our wedding here on November 24th. This place is amazing when it comes to planning events. Robia, our wedding coordinator, did such a wonderful job making our wedding day run smoothly. Many things that would cost extra at other venues were included in the rental. We did not have to worry about set-up or renting chairs and tables. The winery is beautifully decorated so place already looks as though you hired an expensive decorator for the wedding. Such great staff working the event.
