My dog was having an unknown flare up in both of her eyes. She was in obvious discomfort so I called every place in Galveston to make an appointment the same day to get her treated. Galveston Veterinary Clinic had an easy online booking/chat system, they were able to get me in quickly and confirmed it with the clinic ASAP to make sure the availability was still there. I felt this was really modern of the office and helpful for those of us working jobs where we can't step out and make calls throughout the day. When we walked into the office the veterinary technicians at the front desk were very sweet and helpful. The waiting area is also quite spacious in case you have a nervous or non-friendly dog. I was trying to keep mine away from others because I didn't know if her eye issue was contagious, and it was really easy for me to do so here. When we got called back to the exam room the veterinary technician didn't take too much time trying to get my dog used to her, and she was already in discomfort and nervous, so she got snapped at a few times. The veterinary technician then allowed me to help with the first 'exam' so that my dog was more comfortable and less snappy. I greatly appreciated this as I have been to other clinics where they try to force your dog to do what they want quickly with no help on the owners part and it's a bad experience for all parties involved. Having me help check her teeth and ears, etc. was more comforting for my dog as she's used to me doing this at home anyway and she would never snap at me despite her level of discomfort. When Dr. Osborne walked into the room my dog was already trying to hide behind me. He saw this and made friends with her quickly by giving her "the good treats" and some belly rubs. He explained to me in detail what we would be doing (eye drops, examining the eyes, etc.) before he started. She, of course, did not like the eye drops one bit and let him know. He also let me assist while he put eye drops in her eyes to see if she had possibly scratched them or had something stuck in them to cause the reaction she was having. I apologized profusely for her trying to snap and showing her teeth at him, but he was adamant that no apology was necessary because she was probably in a lot of pain and who likes eye drops that sting anyway? He also talked to her in a soothing voice the whole time and praised her. After the exam she got MORE treats, MORE belly rubs, and some medicated eye drops which cleared her eyes up within a few days. I was so grateful to have such an amazing vet see her at this visit and make her feel comfortable before, during, and after the eye exam portion of the appointment. Thank you so much Dr. Osborne!! I was pleased to see the office also accepts Care Credit when I went to go checkout. I rarely use my Care Credit as most Vet offices I have been to don't accept it. It's nice to have in case an emergency occurs where you don't have all the necessary funds on hand. Added bonus: We feed prey model raw and didn't get talked down to about our nutrition choices as is the case with other clinics popular in this area. My best friend and I took our dogs here for check ups. I have two. She has one. I was really in high hopes that this clinic was going to deliver a great experience, but we ended up leaving before we were even seen by the vet after waiting for 45 minutes for the vet to come into the room. I have a pug so her breathing becomes exasperated from too much stimulation. After 40 minutes and seeing the vet walk into the room of another patient that came in 30 minutes after us, I went and asked one of the ladies behind the counter to let everyone know that we couldn't wait any longer and that we needed to leave. Our first appointment was at 2:00 for the first dog and then the other two were immediately following so we couldn't understand why we weren't being seen. I ended up leaving my other dog with my friend and her dog and immediately left to get my girl home so she could come down from the heavy panting. The staff made her wait another 15 minutes and then charge us for blood work and never even came back to us with the results. Total disappointment. I thought all the rumors about how bad the service is were going to be debunked in this visit however, Galveston Veterinary Clinic really lived up to the negative reviews. I will say that if you are a regular patient there, you do seem to get preferential treatment, so there's that. read more

I've been a vet tech for several years and highly recommend this clinic. I moved to Galveston in 2024 and was not working in the field since moving here just due to relocating. I chose to bring my dog (6 y/o boxer x pit mix) and cat (8 ish year old male orange boy) here based on recommendations and word of mouth. I'm pretty critical since I've worked in the field for a long time, and I can assure you that this team of receptionists, vet techs/assistants, and veterinarians really care and put their hearts into their patients and clients. They've always been so accommodating and communicative with me as the client, and gentle with my animals. I always warn about any potential issues (example: my dog doesn't like her nails being trimmed- muzzle her and tell her she's a good girl and everything will be fine) and it makes a world of a difference for both the pet and staff handling her..same goes for my cat who can be spicy at times. I've had routine annuals/vaccines done with them here, as well as a same-day emergency when my dog ate chocolate chip cookies and a plastic toy (she's a trash goblin- I try my best). There are many clinics on and off the island, but I will happily make the small drive from La marque to get the care from this team. Thanks yall! read more

This place is a scam and is absolutely not recommended! I'm am outraged at the billing department (or whatever incompetent employee handles accounting). My dog, and eventually new cat, were patients here from 2014-2020, until I moved to Houston. We always had good experiences, but it appears something about this clinic has drastically changed. New management perhaps? My last appointment here was on 8/10/20, and I paid the full amount before leaving. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I had multiple financial institutions sending me red alerts all at once, alleging that I have a serious delinquency. My credit score has suddenly plunged 70 points. Apparently, an erroneous charge has been sent to a collections agency, despite the fact that I NEVER received an invoice from the clinic this entire time. This is absolutely ridiculous. My email and phone number have never changed, and yet no one from this clinic has ever tried to contact me within two years. However, even though I unsubscribed, they still send email alerts whenever my pets are due for an appointment (how considerate!). If this is how Galveston Veterinary Clinic treats its customers, I would never trust them with my pets again. I called today and was told that the manager is on vacation, so I left a voicemail. I'll delete this review when or if I hear back from someone to fix this. Of course, the phone number the receptionist gave me for the collections agency doesn't work. Best clinic including outstanding technicians and DVMs who are willing to stay way past closing to see sick pets because THEY CARE! Occasionally I may have to wait a little while for a scheduled appointment, but I don't mind because they were willing to see my dog without an appointment scheduled when he was sick, so I appreciate the fact that they are the only clinic in the area who are willing to take in sick patients without an appointment and understand why they sometimes run behind. The alternative is to go to an emergency clinic in League City, so they serve a great purpose. The people who leave negative reviews because they had to wait 20 minutes after a scheduled appointment apparently have never had a sick dog that needed to get in to see someone immediately or they would be a little more understanding and will really be appreciative if they ever need to bring a vomiting dog to a vet without an appointment unless they want to go to League City and spend 3 times as much. read more

Went here because my dog was limping. He got one xray and a diagnosis, this took over an hour and a half with an appointment, and it cost about 400$ total. While waiting for them to xray my dog, you could hear the workers gossiping and watching tiktoks. The vet that spoke to us about my dog's diagnosis was very brief and seemed insincere. I called the Galveston Veterniary Clinic to make an appointment to have my dogs teeth cleaned. I was placed on what they referred to as a brief hold. I was on hold for 10 minutes. Called back and I asked if I could be placed on a brief hold and I said,"No" I will just call another clinic and she said, "ok". All I could think of was "WOW" what bad customer service. I have been using Galveston Veterinary Clinic for the past 7 years. And with every visit it has been going down hill. First of all you can't make an appointment on line...so when you have a sick pet you always are charged the extra $25.00 per visit. You will continue to pay this fee because they have no available appointments and yet you need to get your Pet back in because by now your pet is even worse then she was before. At the end of the first visit on 5/22/23 the doctor said he would call me the next day to see how she is doing no Call was received... bill was $246.50. On 5/30/23 the cat had a follow up Urinalysis bill was $90.50. On 6/1/23 cat was worse more vomiting and needless to say unable to eat or drink...was given fluids and injection to stop vomiting along with 1 1/2 pills for $20.00 just for the medication. The attending doctor gave me his word he would call first thing in the morning to check on the cat...again he did not call. That visit was $177.00 When I called the Clinic to speak to him they said he was doing emergency surgery...Ok I understand that so I asked that he call before he left for the day...I was told he would be to busy to the call me but they would leave him a message. The Doctor suggested doing X-Rays during the second visit which I asked short of that what could be done...thats when he did the liquids and injection. Total for the three visits was $474.00. I had enough I called the a locally owned Vet Clinic on Broadway and was seen immediately and wasn't charged a $25.00 fee. I know GVC had been sold to a Large Corporation several years ago. Then it became a numbers game. Only a couple of the original doctors are still there but it is impossible to get appointments with them. BTW I did get a follow up call on 6/3/23 from a sweet girl at the front desk to see how Coco was doing....to little to late. Woke up at noon today thinking about "Charlie" after working all night in the rain as I do work in the elements. Took him for second opinion to Galveston and dr said we could add a mass removal to a teeth cleaning and it would save us some money.. So we got a deep tooth cleaning plus two extractions plus tumor for $640.. I have seen all the vets there with our 4 dogs and they are great... Such friendly nice dr's ... And pricing is affordable more so than vets where we live in clear lake. I am very glad for this clinic. They provide all the services I need and know my cat on a first name basis (on the phone and in person). My cat comes back always alive and there never seems to be any issues with him. He comes back quieter and less angsty each time he visits there when I go on vacation. My cat has a certain condition that not many people know about, but the vet there was confident in identifying it and giving me options to treat it. I only gave four stars because I have nothing else to compare to, but I have heard there are other clinics that are slightly cheaper on the island. I'm a landlord and today I attempted to verify information that was listed on a Pet Application a new tenant had submitted. All I asked was for the office to verify the dogs age, weight, breed and rabies license #. I was put on hold for 7 minutes and then informed they had called the pet's owner for permission to give out the information. The application listed the breed as Hound/Lab mix. The picture of the dog on the application was clearly a Pitbull mix. The office would not confirm or deny the dogs breed. I was told the only way to know the breed was to do a DNA test. I asked if they would open the dog's chart and tell me the breed that they listed in their records. I was again told the DNA test is the only was to know what the breed is. So, I'm posting here to let others know that you have a vet in Galveston that cannot identify a dog's breed without a DNA test. Needless to say, I am rejecting this Pet Application due to this Veterinary Clinic's inability to identify a dog's breed and the fact that the dog's photo clearly is not a hound/lab mix.. read more

Let me start by saying I 100 percent understand that in the COVID day and age things and policies are constantly changing. I had called a week ago to make an appointment for my dog's annual exam and to address an issue that came up. I had a lengthy conversation with the receptionist about having an appointment where the staff took the dog inside and the vet did the appointment over the phone. We have a newborn baby and are not going out unless it is absolutely required. When I made the appointment, it was agreed that we would do a drop off. When we arrived at the vet (after driving 30 minutes from the West End) and called inside the receptionist told me that this wasn't an option and that I would have to come inside. I asked to be rebooked to an appointment where we could do the drop off and she told me that we have to drop off at 8 and pickup at 4. I asked if they could accommodate a noon drop because we had already wasted time going there when they didn't even schedule the correct type of appointment. The receptionist told me that is not their policy. We told her that's fine we will find another vet. She called back probably 5 minutes later (after we had driven off) and said we could do the original drop off. At this point, however, I was frustrated and it was no longer worth it. I am not listing the employee's name because I don't want them to get in trouble, but I am leaving this review hoping the office manager will read it. I hope that you can use this as a teaching moment and have your employees work to be solution oriented as opposed to rigid and not willing to try to work a solution until the customer has said they will take their business elsewhere. The receptionist could have easily said "let me go check to see if we can do a drop off since that is what you were expecting." We have used this clinic for two years and the service from the medical staff has been excellent. The service from the front office staff is hit and miss. Until the last 3 visits, the indifference from the front office staff was tolerable but it has now degraded to the point of being unbearable. In June I took my lab for a lesion on his lip followed by a dental cleaning a couple of days later. I was left in the room after the exam for 20 minutes before I went to the desk to see if the visit was complete. Someone forgot to mention that there was nothing more to do. We have two dogs in the same weight class for heartworm/flea medicine. We took one prescription to Costco for filling ($30 cheaper than the vet). When that prescription was exhausted, we asked for a written prescription for the second dog. We were told we could only get two tablets which had to be filled by them. In the, admittedly heated, discussion, the staff person (name withheld) put me on hold twice without notice, mid sentence, and when I asked for a doctor to call me, she hung up on me. I have a message for one of the doctors to call me. I will leave a follow up on this situation, when or if I hear from them. read more

These are caring professionals dealing with some tough cases. My dogs are 16 and 20, so we're talking elder care. My visit last week was very successful. My 16 year old chinook is a war hero who now has hip dysplasia. The tech and Dr. Andree were wonderful with her, giving her a Brazilian, and prescribing some antibiotics and some steroid creme for some hind end issues that has helped in only three days. My 20 year old Jack Russell got his new rabies tag and continues to amaze. I appreciate how hard everyone works to love on my dogs. I recommend their pet care program, as it spreads expenses out for me. Thank you for all you do. read more

I am so glad I found this vets office! Being new to the area one of my biggest fears was finding a doctor to take of my kids. Not only did I work for a vet when I was younger I have had so many pets that went to the vet. I have so much experience with vet offices. The office is so clean, friendly, inviting as well as professional. Dr. Henderson is brilliant and really knows his stuff! He explained even the smallest possible issues about my dog in full detail and really made us feel so comfortable. He treats the dogs so loving and kind as well as knowing how to take care of the owners as well. The atmosphere is relaxing and they have plenty of room in the waiting area so that you are not on top of the other animals who are waiting. Their prices seemed reasonable to me compared to other vets and mobile clinics I have been to.
