When I visit this store, it's like I'm in middle school again, and it's a Friday night, and I get to pick out a movie or two to stay up late and watch. It's TOTALLY a nostalgia thing. Most of the stock is in VHS (which is amazing in and of itself, especially in this day and age) but there are some DVDs too. This is my most favourite place in Rochester to rent those old, hard-to-find titles (some of which never even came out on DVD!) And the display setup they've got going there makes any film/media geek drool. It's not every day you get to see a LaserDisc player up close and personal. The owner is a great, personable guy and really interesting to talk to. The place wouldn't be what it is without him. If you want to relive the past and step into a time warp, check Hyatt's out, and rent a video or two while you're there. Someday places like this will all be gone...and yeah, I love netflix as much as the next person, but there is just something about the video rental store experience that you can't duplicate in watching a streaming video. We go here once every couple of months, at least, and whenever we can't find one of those old obscure movies we remember watching when we were young but can't find anywhere. When you can't even find it ONLINE...Hyatt's usually has it.

Although smaller I think Main Street is laid out a bit better than this second location. This second location over on Jefferson. in the Tops Plaza is great as it's bigger and a lot more parking. The inside is light and bright. White walls and things are laid out but it's just at least for me not cohesive.i get it you want space for people to move around and look at crystals, books, candles and etc. But you have a grouping of crystals here and there. Don't get me wrong they have just about everything crystal you will ever need. They also have books, tarot cards, candles, incense, accessories and more. While I was looking around they were setting up for I believe tarot readings and etc. Staff is friendly and helpful. When you want to check out where do you go up front or the smaller area? This is minor but it's something that might have to be made more apparent. This is a great location as it's larger and they can do a lot with it. They also have classes and events check the website. Who works at a Greek specialty shop, and doesn't know what tzatziki is? We didn't see any when we looked on our own. Very unfriendly service, and lack of basic Greek products. This place was recommended to us by an employee at Olive's Restaurant in Pittsford. I love Olive's, but am going to try to find a different Greek specialty store.

So after living here what feels like forever, I FINALLY made it to Record Archive. This place is…read moremassive. In the back, there's a cool space where they host live concerts and yes, you can grab a libation while you enjoy the music. Cheers to that. The selection? Ridiculous (in the best way). Vinyl and CDs from just about every artist on the planet. They'll even buy your old music. You'll also find some local goods, and the moment you walk in, you're hit with the comforting smell of incense. It's a vibe! The staff? Helpful, friendly, and chill and zero snobbery. It honestly reminds me of Wax Trax and Vintage Vinyl in Chicago... but way bigger. I'll be back.
