My husband and I have been to the newish friends of the library book store a few times and had neutral experiences most times. The selection is not what it used to be and the prices are also a bit out of touch.... Today was disappointing for other reasons... volunteers Amy Pat and one more woman were loudly gossiping about everyone and anything they could as well as making extremely ignorant statements about widely divisive topics . We happen to belong to a few of the groups of people that they were gleefully passing judgement on. I'm glad they are enjoying their freedom of speech but I'm disappointed in the lack of manners. It created an awkward environment where we felt very uncomfortable and we don't feel welcome to return.

What we found is realistically exactly what we expected: Lots of kitschy gifts, some made locally but a lot of it made overseas, all of which was stuff that we did not want or need. It was interesting to go around the building and see some of the things, and to look at the produce that was available, but we found some of the produce sitting on the ground rotting, which was sad and not at all appealing. If you need something to remember your trip to this area, by all means this place will have some sort of trinket that will do the job, but just remember that that is what you are going to get here... trinkets.

Seems there are a few little shops/spaces that are all coexisting here and I love that. And I think I love is that they have some rules such as no alcohol and no cursing so children are allowed. The coffee shop is delightful. They have cold brew and Boba and any latte you can dream of. They also do Frappuccino. And they don't charge for alternative milk. To pair with your decaf or caffeinated beverage, they offer a variety of vegan baked goods from a local bakery. And a few little snacks as well. All affordable. There are also quite a lot of board games borrow, and some cozy spaces to enjoy them. They have couches and tables and plenty of room for groups of all sizes. it seems they do a variety of community events such as trivia and open but you could also just go there for some chill time as well. All of the staff I have encountered, have been incredibly warm and welcoming, and willing to offer great conversation and a space for like-minded individuals to gather without judgment. I found myself asking the employees to help me find women's size extra small, and they said they don't get that size in stock. It seems like it isn't asked for often/ever, so I was glad I checked. I left with size small which will be big on me, seems like the sizing runs large, but it'll be cozy! All in all a wonderful place to stop and buy a keychain, any type of mountain-themed clothing, or any number of other things. Prices seemed reasonable or as expected.
