When they finally opened, they were told that it was already full because the store allowed people to sign up in advance despite the event showing 0 applicants. They were told to sign up on the waiting list. They were selected to play in the tournament (which was supposed to secure a box of OP17) The store failed to uphold what their event said and then refused to sell my husband a box after allowing them both into the event. The manager specifically told my husband "we will not be selling you a box". The store was rude. I can't imagine coming all the way back here for a store that is run like this.

The shop blocks off almost all the space for official events, but then barely anyone even shows up for them. You look around and see rows of empty tables reserved for nothing, while regular paying groups who actually brought people have absolutely nowhere to sit.We even asked nicely if we could use the empty space, but the staff just told us we should rent out the private room instead. What a joke--that room is already booked solid anyway, and it costs a ton of money. It sucks because we loved the vibe, but it's a total waste of time to pack up our games and drive over just to get turned away. They really need to fix how they manage space on event nights.

He had tears in his eyes, mostly I think he was embarrassed but just in that RIGHT moment-- a fellow employee handed him Absolute Batman! Should have walked away, so no one but myself to blame, but don't fall for the friendly neighborhood store facade, it's cut-throat. No transparency on their offering whatsoever. They gave me basically a 32% offer on a lot of products easily worth 1000. Should have walked away, but I didn't, don't make my same mistake, sell it on E-bay, and buy what you are looking for on E-Bay, prices are better both ways.

The prices on all boxes and packs are high and there are not any "cheaper" bins for my kid to go through to pick out cards she finds cool. The kid at the counter was very friendly and clearly willing to work out deals on higher end stuff and again, may create a great experience with someone in the business of cards, but if my kid wasn't getting anything, I wasn't either.

Namely, this Changing Hands has a little area for coffee, booze, and bites. Just like the Tempe shop, they have an amazing selection of books and gift items and so much more. I find their prices to be so fair, especially for a fairly small indie bookshop--support small book sellers!
