I was trying to create some conversation about the game and the different new releases, but I felt he was dismissive. I asked about the gaming community and didn't get much feedback. The store was clean and in good shape, but wasn't impressed with their tables or display. They do have a Smaug on display that should be entered in the Golden Demon. Very impressive. I said this to the salesman, but (yet again) was dismissed. He actually smirked as if the artist wasn't good enough. Overall- not impressed. The salesman should be building up the art and gaming community, not dismissing it. Also should be promoting those that show talent and not holding them back.

As a…read morekid with no allowance and little concept of finances, the thought of being able to exchange old games and receive new ones was tantalizing. My older brother and I convinced our mom to take us to the SWAP USA store in Roswell one day. We put our Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, PS1, Xbox, all games, and all controllers in garbage bags and went to the store. We aimed to exchange our old stuff to get new games for our latest console, PS2. I remember dumping out all of our stuff and the store clerks calculating how much store credit we could receive for it all. Turned out we were able to obtain something like 2 PS1 games and 2 PS2 games, I believe. We thought we were getting a great deal because we weren't playing the old stuff that much anymore and had moved on to ROMS and emulators mostly. My mom did ask my brother before we did it if he was sure he wanted to exchange everything. He nodded his head. I try not to blame my mom for allowing us to go through with it (of course if I were in her shoes, I would've just bought the new games and said keep all your stuff) but maybe I'm wrong and don't have or remember all of the facts. Anyway, SWAP USA is a business, so I understand that the store clerks wouldn't try to dissuade us kids from making a bad deal for ourselves. But still. Come on. In the end, we got scammed. I wish I could go back in time and get our stuff back. Those video games and systems from the 90s..a lot are worth good money today. But it's missing out on the nostalgia and sentimental value of having such great relics around that hurts the most. I do wonder where all of our stuff ended up. Will never know. Anyway, thought I'd share my experience after 20+ years, perhaps in hopes of easing the pain somewhat.

This GameStop is a "GameStop Prestige" location which, according to this EpigoneOfTruth post on…read moreReddit on August 3, 2017 (https://www.reddit.com/r/GameStop/comments/6rd44c/what_is_the_difference_between_a_regular_gamestop/) means the following: "In order to be a Prestige store, that location has to hit a series of goals. The biggest one (depending on who you ask) is getting positive surveys in which customers say they would recommend that store to a friend. So it is possible for every store in a district to attain prestige. Prestige stores are shipped higher quantities of popular products, and they have special Prestige Days which have several good offers. My local store just had a Prestige Day and the two big deals were B2G1 free on all pre-owned, and 10% off all collectibles." This Prestige store looks like any old GameStop. My first recollection of visiting was in March 2017, right around the time the Nintendo Switch launched. I came looking for a Switch, but they were sold out. This was when Switch consoles were hard to find. I later returned to get God of War for the PlayStation 4. It was originally released in April 2018 at an MSRP of $59.99. I got the game about a year after it came out and the price had dropped to $39.99. I went to the store during my lunch break around 12:15pm on a Thursday. During my brief visit, I was the only customer in the store and there was only one employee working as far as I could tell. I found God of War quickly and easily and I was rung up fast. I paid with a GameStop gift card. The receipt that printed out let me know the remaining balance on my gift card which was helpful. I usually buy my games online. One advantage to buying a physical copy game in-store is the physical copy is in perfect condition. There have been multiple instances where I have ordered a physical copy of a game online and the game case arrived damaged, probably because of shipping. The employee, Leah, greeted me as I entered. She checked my ID to make sure I was old enough to buy God of War since it was rated M for Mature (17+). I'm already more than double the minimum age for M-rated games. Haha. They had a special going on: Buy 4 used games for only $20. Some of the used games were dirt cheap. For example, Borderlands 2 (2012, PS3) was only $2.99. How the heck do they make money off of games that cheap? Those games must be a loss leader. And how much would they buy that game for? 50 cents? When I got back to work, a coworker told me that there was a murder at this GameStop years ago. Surprised, I Googled it and found the following article: https://www.mdjonline.com/news/man-pleads-guilty-in-gamestop-slaying/article_ebf73f21-1de7-5682-81ee-daaf4ec14529.html. Long story short, a 21-year-old manager was tragically killed in a 2007 robbery at this store. The perpetrator pled guilty to murder in 2013. I will say this GameStop isn't in the safest-feeling shopping center. It's in the Marietta Trade Center with Walmart and Chick-fil-A, near the Big Chicken. Over the years, I've been approached at least three times by panhandlers and sketchy folks in various spots in the shopping center. To be honest, as I walked out of GameStop and back to my car with shrink-wrapped God of War in hand, the thought did cross my mind that I might get mugged in the parking lot (and that was before I knew about the 2007 murder). Be careful out there, folks!

If…read morethe store hours are until 6pm on Saturday and a customer comes at 5:55 pm asking to make a purchase, is it ok that they are turned away? Is a best business practice for Game Stop? According to the store manager, her watch (which was clearly 5 mins fast and not digital) and the store computer, it was 6pm and we were turned away. Is this how loyal customers of GameStop should be expected to be treated? Id love more clarity on how you all operate your stores or to be directed to someone who would be able to assist me as I am concerned that this may be due to racial discrimination and not because "you close when the computers say it's 6pm." Ive worked in retail before and have checked out costumers well after closing time since the computer don't automatically shut off or combust just because closing time is nearing.

The storefront faces Sidney Marcus. I was able to pick up a Nintendo Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at this store on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Both the Switch and the new Zelda game launched worldwide on March 3, 2017. Like the Wii in 2006 and the NES Classic Edition last year, the Switch has been in high demand and very hard to find in stores. The console is currently selling for upwards of $450 through online resellers. I refuse to pay a premium for in-production consoles and was happy to fork over $299.99 (MSRP) for the Switch at this store in addition to $59.99 for Zelda. Apparently, on March 22nd, select GameStop stores received one shipment of five Switch consoles. This store was one of them. Many, if not all, of these stores sold out of their allotments within minutes of opening on the 22nd. One of my friends was able to find a Switch the following weekend at a metro Atlanta Toys"R"Us. That store received a shipment of 10. Hopefully, they are getting easier to find. Nintendo really should stop this pattern of supply shortages. GameStop has a rewards program called PowerUp Rewards. Unfortunately, I don't shop enough at GameStop for it to have any benefits for me. They have both a basic membership that is free and a premium "pro" membership that costs money ($14.99 a year). You can sign up in-store. A huge thank you to store leader Taneka B, whom I mentioned in my previous review over four years ago (below), as well as to Devan for selling me the Switch and Zelda (and taking my nerdy picture).
