We had checked out many party venues around the Peninsula, looking for a place that was fun, encouraged lots of interaction among the kids, and had a party space for them to eat and mingle afterward. IGB checked all the boxes. The Stonestown location is also incredibly convenient, with plenty of parking, lots of nearby food options for the party lunch, and stores like Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Sports Basement for parents who want to stay nearby after dropping off the kids. The staff made the whole experience even better. George was prompt, courteous, and helpful through the online chat, answering all of my many questions. When my wife and I visited in person, Destiny was just as wonderful. She had a clear can-do attitude and really wanted to make sure the party went smoothly. On the day of the party, Destiny came in early to open the store, set up the party area, and help with decorations. She was flexible with the game rooms as some kids arrived early and others came late, and she was helpful throughout the entire event, even helping clean up when a drink spilled. Most importantly, the girls had a blast. After an hour of playing, all of them asked to keep going, and several convinced their parents to let them stay and play more after the party lunch. This location is inside Stonestown Galleria on the 1st floor next to Target. When we arrived, it was around 5:30pm and the mall was super busy. Parking is always a challenge here so if you plan on visiting, plan on arriving early. We checked in with the lady as soon as we walked in. She was very friendly and helped us get started. We put on these hats with sensors on it. You can adjust them to fit your head. There were several rooms inside and it's very spacious. There is a bathroom inside Gamebox so you don't have to walk all the way to the mall's food court to use it. There are several games to choose from: Batman, The Floor is Lava, Squid Game and you can play up to 5-6 people (I think) I could be wrong so please check the website. We booked to play Squid Game for 60 mins which cost me $104 for 3 people. The game was challenging and it was that day when I learned that I wouldn't last in a real Squid Games challenge (lol). I loved the fact that it was interactive. You will get a work out playing this game. My hubby, my son, and I had so much fun! Cant wait to go back!

Then the second group got taken in, but we waited a while with the gears before the room before us finished. The third group was taken in shortly after the 2nd, but they also waited a while before the room prior was finished too. We all played the Deadwood Phobia and loved it. Originally, my friends who are scared of horror games ended up having so much fun. Overall, it was a good experience for groups and everyone had a good time.

Several wristbands had to be tightened awkwardly because they were not staying on correctly, and we had to stop around five times during the session to fix equipment or tracking issues. For something this short and this expensive, that part was frustrating. With that said, we still had a great time. The experience is kind of like the mini golf of the future: a little janky, a little cheesy, a little stupid, and genuinely fun. Even with the stops, we were laughing, yelling, trying to coordinate, and talking about it afterward. I would not go in expecting a perfectly seamless sci fi theme park ride. I only found out about this event on the local news when they did a feature on it and made it look like the coolest thing since sliced bread. You probably didn't know sliced bread was cool, did you? Anyway I was sold, so I got tickets for Jamie W. and me. At first I thought $55 was rather steep, but what do I know about virtual reality? Except that Zuck plowed billions into it with Meta and just laid off 11,000 employees because the public wasn't ready for it. I sure wasn't ready, but this experience made me think I could be ready for an hour's worth of it before I go into sensory overload. As newly designated space explorers, Jamie and I were handed our bulky VR headsets. I have to admit I was amused at the sight of headset-wearing people in a huge warehouse space doing all sorts of random movements. Once our headsets got turned out, however, we were completely immersed into a walkable 3-D model of the International Space Station. It didn't matter if we were walking inside or outside of the station, we were defying gravity, baby. There were lots of floating blue orbs which you bat away in order to see videos of the actual station with astronauts talking to us face-to-face. We also experienced a spacewalk and could see Earth below our feet. I felt like Sandra Bullock in "Gravity" before the debris hit... ...and before George Clooney unplugged himself out of fear of spending eternity with a woman his own age. After allowing us to sit down to absorb the universe around us (and to let the next group come in), we took off our headsets and headed into a Star Trek-like room where Ryoji Ikeda's "The Universe Within the Universe" was displayed in all its kinetic glory. Ikeda's artistic vision was mesmerizing as it spanned from the microscopic to the macroscopic aspects of the cosmos (video: https://bit.ly/3ts6qMq). As we exited, I have to admit I felt a bit of motion sickness, and it wasn't virtual. Regardless, I was so awestruck that I bypassed the gift shop where I noticed they were selling actual View-Masters. This was a pretty awesome experience. Its an hour long experience where you get to tour the International Space station (real video footages). Its immersive so you get to walk around a large area. Everyone turns into star beings so you don't run into each other. There's also some really cool digital art installations at the end too (warning: might trigger seizures). My only feedback is that I wished it was longer! So many parts to explore that I didn't get the chance to. If thats not possible, then having a more curated video selection where we get the greatest hits and learn more about the ISS (how they eat, clean, sleep etc). Afterwards, you can explore the waterfront! Have some bbq with a view and take in the history of this area.
