So close to the holiday... let's just say that's not going to work! (It's the 23rd of December!) I called this store and they confirmed they had Catan and various expansion packs in stock. The price is exactly what I was expecting to pay and then they had a 10% holiday discount. It's a Saturday and most stores are NOT answering their phones but this store answered on the 1st or 2nd ring!! They set aside two different games for me and confirmed they were open until 10pm! I swung by and the nicest person helped me to check out, signed me up for the rewards program, and explained their business model. You can rent and play games, purchase them, or bring your own! I've never had a problem with staff, and they have always been helpful when asked, but also give you space to look around. If I had any complaint it would be the hours. I wish I could pop in around 9am after my morning shift, but maybe I'm better off, I'd have no money, :-).

Its sad that it had to come to this but here's what happened. I contacted their comic store after I…read moresaw that they made a post about buying Funko Pop collections. I asked if they are buying all categories of pops since I know for a while they weren't buying Marvel, DC, Star Wars etc.. He responded and I quote "Yes, We will buy it all". I was glad to hear that and I responded that I would make it there in a week or so since I needed to make arrangements for babysitter & vehicle for transporting the pops. They next responded to call before I show up just to make sure they are still purchasing Funko pops , which I said that I understood. I called a few days ahead, and then called again a day after to remind them I was bringing a 500 piece collection on Saturday morning at 10am. They said that's fine and we will make sure someone is there to help you. I spent hours packing the pops into several boxes and getting them into the van. I was able to borrow a van from someone and find a babysitter last minute so I could do this on my only day off since it was a 4 hour round trip. I drive to their store and tell them I'm the one who called several times and messaged them about my pop collection for sale. The says okay but we are not buying marvel, DC, Star Wars, etc.& that they were not buying any pops over 4" which nobody told me before that moment. I was so baffled that I couldn't believe I heard what he just said to me after all of the communication we had for several days. He said they recently purchased too many pops and are only looking for certain ones. which is fine but why didn't they tell me that in the first place? They obviously have every right to buy whatever they want but to do this to people is just wrong. Then the worker (who was rude in my opinion) made negative remark about every pop that I decided to bring in. I only brought in 2 small boxes at first just to give them an idea of what I had. The guy actually wanted me to lug in all 500 pops so he could cherry pick what he wanted after everything they did to me that morning. After I left I messaged their Facebook account to express my displeasure and all he said was that he was sorry for the mixup. he didnt try to rectify it in anyway or make good on what happened (which I would have respected greatly). I never write reviews like this ever and I'm mad I even have to write it since it seems like a cool place but it just wasn't right what they did, that's bad business.

More specifically, it's about how did I start to liquidate my baseball card collection with a professionally run business and get treated with courtesy and fairness. I collected cards as a kid, and a few pretty good cards from the '60's are still in my possession today. 1967 was a particularly good year as I saved a Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, and a Hank Aaron, But like most hobbyists, I jumped hard into the baseball card market in the late 1980's, and as the 80's moved into the '90's, the card companies flooded the market with a ton of product. This glut of cards is known today as the "Junk Card Era", as Topps, Donruss, Fleer, Score, and Upper Deck among others ran the presses. 90% of these cards are worth zilch, and I remember a card guy I talked to at the Elephant's Trunk Flea Market recommended burning all of my cards produced after 1990. But there are a handful of exceptions, mostly rookie cards of elite Hall of Fame level players. The 1989 Upper Deck Complete set is a prime example, as the market value for the full 800 cards is just about equal to the market value of the set's first card - #1 which is the rookie card of Ken Griffey Jr. As a test, I approached Fearless to see about selling my 1989 Upper Deck sets. I had one factory sealed set, and a hand collated set culled from individual packs I had bought back in 1989. I learned that the value of the hand collated set is more or less identical to the value of the Griffey card. So I sold the Factory set, and the #1 Griffey card, and was treated fairly. Hats off to Brandon and Matt who are super friendly and knowledgeable. I know this will be my first of many future transactions with them.

Good selection, good prices, great owner and staff…read more As an old hat card collector, I had a number of older trading cards lying about. I decided to go and find a good home for my childhood games, and many of the local card shops I would go to were either not interested, outright rude, or would "ease my burden" by offering pennies on the dollar for my collection. Rob was the only owner that was not only in constant contact through the process of appraisal, but he offered a good explanation of his evaluation along with a fair value. No hidden tricks, just honesty. Which is weirdly rare, at least based on my recent experiences. Unfortunately I no longer play the card games they sell. But I will return and I hope others seek them out as well. They have a lot of hobbies represented, their prices are good, and the staff is great.

However, I was never aware that right on Main Street is a place called Main Street Market that once inside this temperature controlled "mini mall" building are several floors of cool locally owned shops. This is how I came across what I learned to be just newly opened trading card and collectible store, East Coast Collectibles Card Shop. Full disclosure here, I've been a collecting trading/sports cards since I was a kid. I started out with Pokémon and basketball and later tacked on Magic & Yu-Gi-oh cards (Full blown nerd here ). So... East Coast Collectibles is LITERALLY the perfect little shop for someone like me or for those interested in starting card collecting. They have a wide variety of collectibles for sale (autographed Funko Pops, Pokémon collectible sets and signed sports memorabilia), as well as packs or boxes of Pokémon, various sports and Magic the Gathering. They have an entire shelves dedicated to single sleeve cards that are priced in large boxes (so much). Best of all, they have a seating area with a large wooden table for customers to sit down to either sort through these individual card boxes or bring their own collection to trade/sell with the owner. Most shops don't have this seating which has left me as an adult or kid, having to sift through cards on the floor. Yes, as many collectible shops do, the owner is not only interested in selling but will buy cards they are interested in off you for a fair price (I checked ). I had a chance to talk with the owner Scott, Scott runs a very successful EC3 collectible shows at Mohegan Sun and decided to set up shop locally to continue his passion 365 days a year. Scott is extremely knowledgeable on not only the cards that he buys/sells but also understand a lot of interesting stuff about the collectible/autograph business. This card shop is not only ideal for collectible nerds like me but is super family friendly too. While I was there (for quite a while I might add), I saw Scott and another employee having great conversations with families coming in to buy Pokémon cards. I overheard him discussing with the kids the best way to start their deck building for Pokémon and recommendations for which series to start with depending on their Pokémon knowledge. If you are looking to get into card collecting, looking to beef up your decks before and tournament or are interested in expanding/trading your collection, this is a wonderful option that conveniently located off a main road in Middletown. If you aren't fans of trying to find main street parking and use meters, there is a public parking right behind the building off a side street with PLENTY of parking and easy access for those going it alone or with families of all ages. Go visit Scott at East Coast Collectibles, you won't be disappointed!
