This Barnes & Noble book store is a pretty massive one in Canton. You can enter from the front or…read morethe rear of the store, depending on which way you're coming from. If you're looking for brand new released reading material this is the place to find it. Everything is categorized into fiction, biography, history, romance, cookbooks and more. As long as you know the author, it shouldn't be a problem finding what you're looking for. There are resourceful books for a variety tests or exams one might be taking. At the rear of the store there are records and CDs. This is also where the children's books, toys and games are. There are certain times dedicated to story time for little kids. Should you need a coffee break, there's no need to go far. Starbucks is right here in house. They also have a sale section, usually those are activity books or similar. Be prepared to pay the manufacturer's price for most items.

This a good-sized and clean Barnes and Noble with a pretty good stock of books in all categories…read moreand some magazines as well. There's also a Starbucks inside if that matters to you. It does, however, provide some extra seating which is always a good thing in a book store. That said, we wandered around for quite a while, checking out the history and cooking sections -- everything is pretty clearly organized -- and came away pleased. There's a special section for kids, for tech stuff and for just about any special interest you might have. They have lots of space devoted to gifts, which has never been our favorite part of a book store (let's use that space for MORE books!). There's an information area in the center of the store, and the employees there are pretty good at helping others find items. In all, a nice store, nicely arranged and worth spending some time in, as we certainly did. It is, we believe, the largest book store in this part of Connecticut.

Located next to Village Pizza, we stopped in because the nostalgic character drinking glasses in…read morethe window intrigued me. There was a great selection of comic books organized well. I ended up getting a Smurfette figurine while my husband chatted with the owner, I think. He graciously was giving my husband price estimates and guidelines even though my husband was thinking about selling his comics on Ebay. This guy really knew his stuff and had such a depth of comic history and information about various characters. He had also worked at the theater for 20 years, and my husband and him compared memories of the theater and we got to hear about secret, historical things in the theater as well. Really a great guy and making the store a wonderfully, helpful resource. It is guys like him that make small towns a special place to visit and the world a smaller, more friendly, warmer, better place.

Wondering what I'm doing at the comic store again? You guessed it right! My dear hubby couldn't…read moreresist coming in here and leaving with at least one flash issue. I'm not a huge comics type of gal but my better half sure does love them! We were on a quick weekend getaway and, after hitting up the awesome bagel spot down the street, we came right in. Cool little local spot, not a franchise, they sell a lot of local work from the area. The girl in the counter was awesome and very helpful. She was very interactive and down to earth also showed us some sections where they have the dollar comics at. We found a little gem in there and also left with one of the older original Flash issues. The owner was very reasonable and willing to even negotiate on it. I know if we lived locally I would know where to find my halfsie at, definitely in here! If we're ever back in the area, for sure I know he'll be back.

Have you seen the flags of freedom? What color are they now?…read more(Neil Young) I feel like letting my freak flag fly (Crosby, Stills, & Nash) How can I possibly explain the stellar customer service I received at Flagman? I'll try. I belong to a charitable organization and we have a 15-year old banner to display at our events. I wanted to update it by adding the year "2020" to reflect next year's upcoming national convention in Hartford. I brought the banner to Flagman, met with Jordan Ahlstrom, and explained what I wanted to do. He said it would be pretty easy to match the font and color for the new date with the font and color of the original banner using a heat transfer process. He just wanted to check with his textile person to be sure. A few days later, he wrote to me and said although they were 100% the new panel would "stick", he couldn't 100% guarantee that the heating process would not damage the original banner due to it's age. Jordan wanted to be clear and honest about his concerns for the remote possibility of discoloration or damage to the banner. I really appreciated that. I met him a second time and talked about the issues, and eventually we agreed that the risk of damaging the banner was something neither of us wanted to accept. So now we switched to Plan B - making an applique "patch" for the new date that would be sewn onto the original (one number at a time) instead of being heat applied. I picked up the banner today, and it came out great and only cost $50. I also picked up a grave marker and a graveside flag to replace the ones that seem to have been stolen from a family member's resting place. Flagman is family owned & operated since 1947. They can do just about anything you need if it involves flags & flagpoles. Want more good news? They offer a 10% discount with your Yelp check-in. This was a stellar 5 star consumer experience. Thanks Jordan and thanks Flagman!
