Love this place! Been going here probably before I've been sentient to be honest. I know some of the employees by name and come on by often (yeah I'm kinda a chud) to be honest my only complaints are that 1. They never awnser the phone. 2. I believe they don't have much organization especially for big drops such as Pokemon cards with their policy because there would be disputes because they would assume people to be in a group together and sell them only one product. 3. They gave my preorder to another person (GIMME MY ACTION FIGURE GAMESTOP) but yeah everything else they pretty good. read more

I've personally never had a problem with any of the staff members, however there have been quite a few altercations between staff members and other customers. The manager (glasses with dark hair) has been unprofessional when explaining policy toward customers. I understand that some customers can be annoying, but that is not a reason to lose your temper. I can care less about gamestop policy. I just want to buy what I want and leave. Seems like the attitude towards customers is exacerbated by the manager. Most of the employees are pretty chill. Came to this location to trade in (2) Xbox series S. Both 1TB and in very good shape. The worker offered me $65 for one and since he couldn't get the 2nd Xbox to pop up on his monitor he offered me $35. The Xbox had power but on his monitor he was getting a message on the screen that read , "out of range." Which I believe means his monitor and my Xbox resolution settings were out of range. He wasn't willing to try another hdmi cord instead he said, "maybe your Xbox hdmi is conditioned for that Xbox but doesn't work on my cables that I test all the equipment with that comes in here." Never felt like a worker couple be so ignorant. I came home plugged my Xbox in and what do you know, the f**king thing works just fine. I feel like the workers at this location are scamming or deceitful at the least. Why can't GameStop hire normal people that actually know how to provide customer service. I can't believe this location is still here! I used to come here back in the day when I was a gamer myself. Now I'm bringing my teenager here. Selection was pretty limited for Switch games. The prices are about the same as I remember...high! The staff who helped us was professional and helpful. He offered us a $2.99 protection on each game that we probably didn't need, but got anyway because: kids! I don't know that I'd seek out going here physically since you can download so many games now, but if the need arises, we'd definitely be back! read more

For any millennial that's every picked up a video game you've likely been to a Gamestop. In your youth, may have even spent several afternoons at one whilst being dropped off at the local mall by your parents. Gamestop is pure nostalgia. I've been lucky with purchasing online and picking up curbside during the pandemic. Their hours are super limited but I guess that's signs of the time. If I could give zero I would, this store sales defective game systems, they don't properly go through their used game systems before putting them up for sale. I bought an Xbox today that did not work would not eject the game. The offered to exchange it but since the one I bought was the only in stock I would have to pay the difference which would have been about 100 dollars. I chose to swap it out with the PS4, which when setting up it was found that the controller was defective as well. Now the PS4 is over heating after 30 minutes of play due to it being plugged up with dust and grime. After calling the store they informed me to either take it apart and clean it or come in and exchange it. I will never do business at this company again. read more

I was basically encouraged to take my business elsewhere and really am just here to spread that message to everyone else. For one thing, the manager there warned me I had "preordered 4 games" I never picked up, and that if I continued to do that, I wouldn't be allowed to preorder games with them anymore. 2 of those games were Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, which at the time of writing this review, have still not come out. So exaggeration is definitely something you can get here, but definitely not good service. I was then told they were sold out of Death Stranding, a game that came out today. I wish someone had preordered it and failed to pick it up, geez. Another preorder I had failed to pick up goes as follows: I was excited for Outer Worlds, and know that Gamestop will only do an early release if they get enough preorders, so I did. The employee told me that they weren't sure if they were doing an early release and that I would be informed if they decided to. I was not informed, apparently, that they decided to. Despite calling multiple times and asking, as close as 3 hours from the point at which they did the release. Never received a call back of any sort. Was told each time there would be no early release. So I sourced the game elsewhere, if you sell games next to a Target you need something to give me a reason to choose your business over theirs. They did not. They either lied or withheld information from me about this game, and then scolded me for not making my final purchase with them, because of this misinformation. Being treated poorly for cancelling preorders on a game that isn't even out yet is silly. Being lied to about an early release is lame. The staff there is almost entirely inattentive and unconcerned with the customers. I see why there are negative reviews on this location in particular. I cashed out my preorders, decided, at the recommendation of the manager, to just not preorder or even make purchases with this place anymore. I encourage everyone else to do the same. Sell your games to each other, keep the money in the gaming community, use Let Go or Offer Up to get used games, rather than handing your money over to rude employees that will resent you for it. Hopefully this whole corporation goes the way of Toys R Us, because I do not believe there is a worse place in Bakersfield to buy new or used games than this particular Gamestop. Also, to reiterate, Target sells basically every new game this Gamestop gets, opens 1 hour earlier and never acts like you've done them a disservice by giving them your money. read more

Rude and disrespectful employees. I waited over an hour to pick up a game I ordered online. There was 2 employees working but only 1 person at the register. The line was out the door and they did not seem to care. I did not receive all of the items I paid for so make sure to check the items carefully before you leave. My son bought a game a few weeks ago and when we opened it finally he realized he already had it. Only big problem is we tossed the receipt. I called and talked to the manager and they spent some time and located my receipt in the computer. They let me return it and he got to get a game he really wanted. I enjoy coming to GameStop cause they have a wide selection of console games and the staff are generally very knowledgeable with any questions i might have for the most part. However, when I had a question they act like they don't even play games which i think should be a requirement when working here much less know something about a particular game maybe. I looked online for a particular game. The game was Majora's Mask. The website said they had 4 in stock. I showed up and I was told that it may be in the back. The employee went to look and came back without it. He explained the back room was too messy right now and they didn't have time to clean it. At the time I was there, there were 4 employees behind the counter talking and only 1 other costumer in the store. When they rang the item up I notice on the bottom of the package they had another price for $139.00. By law they have to honor the lower price. Ok, so I know they were busy, but customer service skill need to be at there best when the busy hits. As we get closer to Christmas I cant imagine trying to be in this store. The line was extremely long and the fun part was... it never moved the entire time I was in this store. Both cashiers were trouble shooting for single customers. Which is great for those single customers, but spending 30 min with the same customers while your line grows..... geez not thinking. Here is my suggestion, have one person dedicated to the register and the other in charge of neeeeeedy customers. So the neeeeeedy people who dont mind waiting can wait, but the people in a hurry can get out. Also even when busy I still expect a hello or welcome, this shows me you actualy care I came in your store. either teach people better customer service skills for peak hours, or waste some payroll and get more people working!!!!! read more

I gave this game stop only one star because I have to at least click one to do the review. This GameStop has the worst customer service ever. I went into the store just to pick up my pre-ordered copy of Destiny today 9/9/14 at 7:45pm. I was told by a skinny young kid with shoulder length black hair, who identified himself as the manager, but wouldn't give his name, that the store was closing at 8:00pm and they were not taking anymore customers, so I needed to come back tomorrow. He had a line of about seven people with four people working the front cash registers. I could not believe it would take them more than 15 min to take care of every customer that came in. He was rude and unprofessional. I don't know what happened to taking care of the customer but that is obviously not their priority at this store. I will never buy from this store again. I will be shopping at best buy or ottos from now on. I've never given a review online before ever, but felt so strongly about the mistreatment by this employee. I needed to speak out. read more

Actually it's the best game store in town! In this game store there games are sold for a good price. I bought this Call of Duty game for $5 and it's totally worth it. I pre-ordered black ops 2 they gave me a little advertisement of the new games from 2012-2014. The other day I bought this racing game looked scratched but in really good condition.
